February 1942, Cangyun Ridge, Jinzhong area.
The 1st Regiment of the 386th Brigade of the 129th Division of the 18th Group Army.
Li Yunlong, with his binoculars set up, lay prone in the trench, staring at the Sakata Regiment in the distance, his heart burning with hatred.
Li Yunlong was of medium height and had a very even build, except that his head was a little large.
In his own words, when he was a child practicing martial arts, his master made him practice head-butting techniques too much, constantly banging his head against stone tablets, which eventually made his head bigger.
However, he now feels that the reason his head is so big is because he saw those damn Japanese devils.
Li Yunlong also knew that the opposing Sakata Regiment was known as the elite of the Japanese army, and that a single regiment had defeated two divisions of the National Revolutionary Army in the Battle of Xinkou.
Now, his new regiment is responsible for blocking the Sakata Regiment and making a breakthrough for the main force behind them.
Li Yunlong wasn't afraid of Sakata, that little Japanese devil.
What really gave him a headache was that he had just received orders from the brigade headquarters. The brigade commander ordered his New 1st Regiment to retreat under alternating cover and break out from the direction of Yujialing. The 772nd and 771st Regiments would cover the retreat of the New 1st Regiment!
He felt that breaking out there wasn't really breaking out, so why should they retreat?
Through the ∞-shaped telescope, Li Yunlong looked at the Sakata Regiment's position. There was a hilltop with an antenna sticking out, very close to the front line.
This gave him a bold idea.
Just as Li Yunlong turned around, wanting Wang Chengzhu to come over and see if they could use a mortar to hit that hill, he suddenly found himself unable to move.
He discovered that everything in the world had stopped.
Meanwhile, his brothers from the new regiment were struck by beams of light and then disappeared.
The final beam of light struck Li Yunlong.
He felt a sudden darkness before his eyes, followed by a dizzying spin.
This scene wasn't limited to the New First Regiment.
Kong Jie's Independent Regiment, which was breaking out, and Ding Wei, who was studying, were both struck by a beam of light and disappeared from this world.
When they opened their eyes, they found themselves on a sandy field.
A gentle sea breeze blows, the waves crash and lap, and the setting sun on the horizon paints the world in a golden hue.
Li Yunlong stood on the beach, smelling the seafood in the air, feeling somewhat at a loss.
Just as he was looking around, several more beams of light descended from the sky beside him.
After the beam of light dissipated, Kong Jie's figure was revealed.
The soldiers of the Independent Regiment were breaking out when they saw the soldiers of the New First Regiment suddenly appear beside them. Some of them were at a loss, raising their guns and facing each other.
Kong Jie saw this and immediately shouted, "Don't move! Put down your guns! The people on the other side are all our own brothers!"
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Li Yunlong immediately became excited.
"Hahaha, Kong Erlengzi!"
"Li Yunlong?"
The two men immediately told the soldier to put down his weapon, and then they walked together.
Before he could speak, another beam of light descended from the sky. After it dissipated, Ding Wei was seen standing on the sand, looking around in confusion.
When Li Yunlong saw him, he immediately smiled.
"Hahaha, Kong Jie, look who's here."
What are you two doing here?
When Ding Wei saw his two old comrades, he felt dizzy.
"You're asking me? Who am I supposed to ask?"
Kong Jie, puffing on his pipe, said, "I was leading my men, just about to break through, when we were hit by a beam of light and ended up in this godforsaken place."
"If you want to ask, go ask Old Li; he got here before me."
Just as Li Yunlong was about to speak, he saw a figure dressed in white walking over.
This man was 1.8 meters tall, incredibly handsome, dashing, and a truly outstanding person.
Everyone stared warily at the man in white. Some even pointed their guns at him and asked, "Who are you?"
The man in white stopped in his tracks, looking at Li Yunlong, Kong Jie, and Ding Wei, his eyes immediately welling up with tears.
He stood up straight, saluted them, and said in a loud voice, "Li Chang'an, a descendant of the Chinese nation, salutes all the regimental commanders and veteran soldiers!"
Li Chang'an looked at these people, his eyes filled with tears.
Simply because he loves this land, loves it deeply.
During the eight-year War of Resistance against Japan, more than 50 million Chinese people were killed or wounded, and as many as 3.65 million died on the battlefield.
These are the people who, with their blood and noble souls, forged the backbone of China and demonstrated its indomitable spirit.
Li Chang'an had no choice but to respect them.
Looking at these soldiers, dressed in patched uniforms and straw sandals, they all looked emaciated and pale.
He felt a stinging sensation in his nose, followed by a sharp, piercing pain in his heart.
What kind of unit is this?
This is an iron-willed force.
Li Chang'an clutched his heart, his eyes welling up with tears.
Kong Jie and Li Yunlong exchanged a glance.
Ding Wei was also baffled. He looked at the man squatting on the ground, wailing and crying, and couldn't figure it out.
After thinking for a moment, he stepped forward and helped Li Chang'an up.
"Young man, do you recognize us?"
Li Yunlong and Kong Jie also came over, but both of them had their hands on their waists.
If the man makes any unusual move, the two of them can immediately draw their guns and fight back.
Li Chang'an calmed down for a while before he was able to release his pent-up emotions.
He looked at the three people in front of him and said, "Commander Kong, Commander Li, Commander Ding, I know you have many questions, but please let me explain them to you slowly."
