Even though it had only been a little over a year since they last met, it felt like an eternity to him.
So long that when he turns his head, he can see himself as a child, being held in his mother's arms.
Mr. Xu walked over with a stern face, saw him, and twitched the corner of his mouth before speaking.
"Have you eaten? If not, tell your mother to go home and cook you something to eat."
Looking at the marks that time had left on his father, Xu Kun suddenly felt a little wronged.
He didn't know why he felt wronged, but he just felt a lump in his throat and tears kept welling up in his eyes.
He shook his head at the old figure and said, "I'm not hungry, I just miss my father."
When Mr. Xu heard this, he was stunned for a moment. He looked at his eldest son and suddenly felt a little unfamiliar with him.
After watching for a while, Mr. Xu realized that the little child from before seemed to be a bit taller than him now.
Upon hearing this, Xu's mother began to complain.
"You, you only think about your father, you don't even think about your mother. You've wasted all those years of your mother cooking for you."
Xu Kun looked at his mother and scratched his head.
"How could I not miss you? I dream about eating a meal cooked by you all the time when I'm away from home."
After saying that, he suddenly thought of something.
"Mother, lower your head, I have something for you."
Xu's mother was a little puzzled. Before she could speak, she saw her son take out a gold hairpin from his pocket.
She stared at the hairpin, mouth agape, somewhat bewildered.
"Why did you buy such expensive things? Your mother is so old, how can she use such expensive things?"
Madam Xu quickly waved her hand, looking at the hairpin with some heartache.
"How much does this hairpin cost? You don't earn money easily, so don't spend so much money on your mother."
"Save your money; you might need it if you want to get married someday."
"You always spend money so extravagantly, how will you get married in the future?"
As Xu Kun listened to her rambling on, the corners of his mouth turned up in a smile.
It still feels familiar.
He looked at his mother's head and saw strands of white hair, which were somewhat dazzling in the sunlight.
Xu Kun's hand holding the hairpin trembled slightly.
He reached out and pulled the wooden hairpin off Xu's mother's head, then carefully threaded the gold hairpin through it.
Xu Kun was a little dazzled by the sight of his mother wearing the hairpin.
"Mom, you look so beautiful!"
