Xu's mother looked at him with reluctance, constantly giving him instructions.
"Remember to buy yourself something to eat, and take care of your health."
"You don't need to worry about Dad and Mom. These few acres of land are enough for us to eat."
"Don't spend money recklessly when you're out. Be frugal, because you still need to find a wife."
Xu's mother went on and on, repeating the phrase "take good care of yourself" over and over again.
Xu Kun listened to her rambling without getting impatient.
I just feel a little sad. Why didn't I listen to what she said before? Why did I complain that she was nagging?
Listening to his mother's repeated murmurs, Xu Kun felt a pang of reluctance.
Just as Mrs. Xu was about to give her son his fourth set of instructions, Mr. Xu came over.
He took a small cloth bag out of his trouser pocket.
He opened the cloth bag, carefully took out a piece of silver, and stuffed it into Xu Kun's hand.
"Take this money. A man should always have some money in his pocket."
"If things aren't going well out there, remember to come home."
"Don't be afraid, your father and mother are here to help you. They will help you."
Xu Kun stared blankly at the broken silver ingot in his hand for a long time.
Then he looked up at Mr. and Mrs. Xu, who were wiping away tears, and spoke.
"Okay, I understand. Dad, Mom, you can go back now."
After saying this, Xu Kun quickly turned and left, clutching the broken silver ingot tightly in his hand.
After walking out of the village, he couldn't help but sit on the ground, clutching the silver in his hand, tears streaming down his face.
