Mu Yanran couldn't figure it out, so she stopped thinking about it and just let it go. She would think about it when everything happened. She was too lazy to worry about these trivial things.
Besides, aren't there still several days left? She let her mind wander for several days. When the day he was supposed to come back came, he said he had something on hand and would be back a few days later.
She was waiting anxiously, and after hearing these words, she suddenly realized that she was actually looking forward to his return. With this discovery, she seemed to understand her own thoughts in a trance.
She was no longer troubled in an instant.
A week later, Si Hanyu came back from abroad, exhausted. The moment he saw her, he hugged her tightly. It felt like years had passed.
Obviously, they chat every day, but it always feels like they haven't seen each other for a long time.
The two of them just hugged each other, and Mu Yanran did not struggle. She leaned on his shoulder as usual. She suddenly felt that she missed him too. Perhaps because she understood his feelings, she showed a rare bit of shyness of a girl.
"Did you miss me?" Si Hanyu murmured softly, his warm palms gently stroking her silky hair, his eyes revealing endless tenderness and pampering.
It was as if time had stopped at this moment, and everything around them no longer mattered. It was just the world of the two of them. She raised her head slightly, her eyes meeting his, a hint of shyness and joy flickering in her eyes.
Si Hanyu's voice was deep and magnetic, like a warm spring breeze brushing past her ears. She felt the warmth from his fingers, and her heartbeat involuntarily quickened.
In this brief silence, their eyes intertwined, and each other's thoughts seemed to be conveyed without words.
She shyly turned away her eyes and replied awkwardly, "I don't miss you..." Her voice was as light as a feather.
Si Hanyu was not angry, and said in a tender tone: "But I miss you? I haven't seen you for more than 20 days, and you are the only thing I dream about."
Mu Yanran bit her lip and said, "I don't believe it. If you missed me, you wouldn't have been away for so long."
There was a hint of complaint in her tone, and it seemed like she was acting coquettishly. Si Hanyu curled his lips slightly: "Well, it's all my fault. Next time, I'll come back to see you earlier."
Mu Yanran blushed, "That's not what I meant."
"Well, no. I just wanted to see you earlier." Si Hanyu did not expose her, but followed her words.
Mu Yanran's heart skipped a beat, thumping. She stared at him, seeing the reflection in his pupils, and she felt a little dazed.
"Can you tell me now? Can you be my girlfriend, the only lover in my life? It doesn't matter if you don't agree. I will give you time and pursue you slowly until you agree." Si Hanyu looked at her and said directly the problem he had before going abroad.
He really liked her, and she didn't want to put so much pressure on her, but she had treated him as a brother for too long and had never thought of anything else. He was afraid that if he continued like this, he would still be just her brother until she married and had children. Instead of that, he might as well express his feelings to her earlier and take the initiative.
He, Si Hanyu, didn't want to be just a brother and sister with her, he wanted to spend all the rest of his life with her.
"Well, haven't you made up your mind yet? Are you willing to give me a chance?" Seeing her looking at him for a long time without saying anything, Si Hanyu couldn't help but ask again in a gentle tone.
Mu Yanran felt that she also liked him. Instead of going around in circles, why not just go straight to the point of being together? So what if she treated him as a brother before? Could she still treat him as a brother in the future?
She likes him, he likes her, that's not a problem.
Although there might be some brother-sister feelings involved, she felt that she did not object at all.
"Do you really like me? Or do you just treat me as a child?" Mu Yanran didn't understand why he liked her?
"Silly boy, do you think that I, a few years older than you, still don't know whether I like you or not?" Si Hanyu replied with a doting tone.
"What do you like about me? Don't you think I'm childish? Am I like a child?" Mu Yanran asked with blinking eyes.
"What's wrong with being like a child? You are only twenty years old and have just become an adult. The little princess we raised doesn't need to know the darkness of society too early. It's great to take one step at a time. You will always grow up on your own. It's just a matter of time. What's more, I'm here to support you. You can be a little princess all your life. Of course, I support you if you want to be a queen. No matter how you want to live, I will support you unconditionally." Si Hanyu said every word. Although he wanted her to be a princess all her life, she was a human being, not a plaything, and he would respect all her decisions.
"Then I want to be a little princess now." Mu Yanran replied.
"Okay." Si Hanyu said in an intimate tone, then took out the necklace he brought back from a business trip abroad from his pocket.
"This is our token of love. Don't regret it once you wear it." Si Hanyu gently put it around her neck.
"You're so stingy that you just gave me a necklace." Mu Yanran curled her lips.
"Well, if you like it, I'll buy you many more in the future." Si Hanyu said very seriously.
After all these years, watching her grow from a little girl to an adult, from her calling him brother to treating him as her boyfriend, he finally got what he wanted. He thought it would take a lot of effort on his part. Unexpectedly, heaven favored him. She only thought about it for more than 20 days before agreeing. It seemed that heaven was still kind to him.
Mu Yanran stayed with him just like that, because she didn't feel repulsed at all, but instead felt a different kind of sweetness. Although he was older than her, she didn't dislike him.
The two of them started dating openly. Mu Yanran continued to study at her own school. Later, Si Hanyu sent her to study abroad for two years. It was not until she was 25 years old that they got married successfully.
Thus, they began the next chapter of their lives.
