Chapter 7

Chapter 7

The next day, Xia Weining returned home again. Her aunt had already taken her cousin home. She missed the opportunity to apologize to her cousin in person, and her grandmother was very worried about her.

"Girl, are you okay?"

"It's okay." She smiled faintly. "I'm going to take you and Grandpa to see Chairman Mao at Tiananmen Square in Beijing."

Grandma was shocked. "We talked about this a few days ago. Not many people knew about it. How did you know?"

Of course she knew. Grandma had said before that she didn't know if she would be able to go to Tiananmen Square to see Chairman Mao in this lifetime. She patted her chest and promised that she would take her to see it when she was admitted to a university in Beijing.

Later, she failed to be admitted to a university in Beijing, and her grandmother did not live to see her. This is also a regret in her heart.

Later, she went to Beijing for work. When she first visited Tiananmen Square, she thought to herself, "Grandma, look, this is Tiananmen Square."

This time she will not let the regret continue.

Including the dog.

Xia Weining squatted down and stroked the dog's back. A tear slowly fell and mixed with the dog's hair.

The dog was very clever, rubbing against her and even licking her hand with its tongue. Grandma smiled and joked, "This dog is so affectionate to you, as if you are its owner."

After hearing this, Xia Weining felt as if her heart was pierced by dense needles, and the pain was so severe that she couldn't breathe.

All things have spirits, and the weight of life lies in all things.

This time she wanted the dog to die peacefully.

She cried and then laughed, and everyone was used to her abnormal behavior.

Grandma said she was too sentimental. She seemed very mature, but was actually very innocent at heart. She always pretended to be omnipotent and knew everything, but there was an unshakable sadness between her eyebrows.

Given her impressive performance during this period, where she cried at everyone she saw, including trees and dogs, she successfully gained fame and was nicknamed Little Walnut because her eyes were always swollen like walnuts.

Because of this nickname, she became closer to everyone, visited her grandparents almost every day, and even took on the task of tutoring Xia Li.

After a period of study, she has bid farewell to the novice period and started formal classes. In order to teach the first lesson well, she made a lot of preparations, memorized the textbooks thoroughly, and supplemented various extended knowledge points.

Her first class was the second period in the afternoon. She looked at the time again and again, her heart beating faster and faster. She arrived at the classroom early, stood at the door, took deep breaths, and made psychological suggestions. When the bell rang, she pushed open the door in front of her and stepped onto the podium amidst pairs of expectant eyes.

When she stood on the podium, she was no longer nervous. She looked at the students calmly and introduced herself generously. Everything went on in an orderly manner.

Only she herself knows how excited she is and how hard it is to control herself. This may be the magic of the podium and the natural sacredness of the teaching profession.

At the end of the class, everyone stood up and said goodbye to her. At that moment, she felt a sense of pride that her first class was a success.

He felt refreshed as if he had won the lottery, and returned to the office humming a song.

A group of people gathered around to inquire about the news. A teacher pushed her shoulder and said, "Look at how proud she is. It seems to be working well."

Xia Weining gave her a 'needless' smile.

"I told her she was fine."

"Let's have a dinner after get off work to celebrate for Teacher Xia."

Xia Weining instantly put away the smile on her face and quickly waved her hand to refuse, "This is not appropriate."

"Nothing inappropriate. It's settled. I'll book the hotel."

The teacher who was speaking was called Tan Ya, the head of the seventh grade Chinese language group. She was very capable in both speaking and doing things.

Xia Weining wanted to see the other teachers' reactions, but most of them agreed. They all said in unison, "Then we'll have to trouble Teacher Tan."

This way she couldn't refuse anymore, so she decided to go to the dinner with everyone.

After thinking about it carefully, Xia Weining suddenly smiled. It was indeed a happy thing to have someone celebrate for you.

She quite likes the working atmosphere here.

After class, several people waited for the Dean of Studies, Zhang Jimei, at the school gate. Tan Ya noticed that Xia Weining was a little nervous, so she whispered a joke to help her calm down, "The Dean is very easygoing and not a pushover. You don't have to be restrained."

Xia Weining nodded heavily, feeling surprised at her sensitivity and grateful for her rescue.

She stretched the tense muscles on her face, took a deep breath, and adjusted herself.

The main reason is that she has never been good at getting along with her superiors. She always has excessive respect for them and does not put herself on an equal footing.

The director came over and stood in front of her with a smile, "Teacher Xia, you are the star today, and we are all benefiting from you."

"It's everyone who has lifted me up, and I should thank everyone."

"We're all colleagues from now on, no need to be polite." The director pointed at the teachers and pretended to threaten them, "Don't let me catch you bullying our new colleagues."

"Director, what are you talking about? We like such a beautiful female colleague, but why would we come over?"

Tan Ya embraced Xia Weining and said, "I will protect her. No one dares to bully her."

Everyone was chatting and laughing as they walked towards the restaurant. Xia Weining's eyes were a little moist. She was flattered by everyone's attitude.

They did what they said and treated Xia Weining as the protagonist, leaving all the ordering to her. This was quite stressful for a newcomer as she had no idea what everyone liked. In the end, it was Tan Ya who stepped in to help her.

Xia Weining was very grateful to Tan Ya and secretly considered her a friend.

Halfway through the meal, the topic finally returned to the "main topic", and Director Zhang took the lead in asking, "Xiao Xia, do you have a boyfriend?"

"No."

"How old are you?"

"28"

Director Zhang nodded thoughtfully, "Do you have any requests?"

Xia Weining knew that this was an attempt to introduce her to someone, as she was already an older unmarried woman.

"I don't have any requirements, as long as it's suitable." She replied perfunctorily.

Director Zhang took it to heart and urged everyone to introduce her to anyone suitable.

Xia Weining was at a loss whether to laugh or cry. Meeting enthusiastic and lovely colleagues was also a kind of happy trouble.

After the dinner, Zhou Renting offered to take her home, but considering that they were going in different directions, he politely declined.

Xia Weining glanced at the time. It was past 9 o'clock in the evening. There were few pedestrians on the street. It was very deserted. The wind was blowing. She wrapped her clothes tightly around her body, hunched over and hurried home.

She was already very alert, especially in such a quiet and deserted environment, and any slight noise could attract her attention.

She didn't know if it was the wind or someone else, but she could always hear the sound of footsteps behind her.

The whole person instantly turned into a cat with its fur standing on end, full of vigilance.

She turned her head again and again to check, but there was nothing behind her. She didn't want to pursue it anymore and thought that the right thing to do was to leave quickly.

His steps were getting faster and faster, his feet were almost tangled together, and he almost fell down. It was true that the more nervous he was, the more mistakes he made. Xia Weining didn't care about anything else and ran away.

The wind made her face hurt and her throat was dry and sore, but she still didn't dare to relax and ran forward desperately.

The dream she feared most as a child came true in reality. Danger was approaching from behind and the road ahead was unknown. She could only run as hard as she could. If she slowed down a little, she would be caught. She didn't dare to think about it. Fear and despair enveloped her.

The footsteps behind her were getting closer and closer. She had no strength left and could only grit her teeth and persevere.

After running through the streets, the residential complex was not far away, and her body was exhausted to the extreme.

She told herself that she couldn't give up like this. She went back to the old year to change her fate, and no accidents could happen.

Xia Weining used up all her strength and fell at the gate of the community. She had only a few steps left when she was really out of strength and her whole body ached. She picked up a small stone and threw it at the iron gate of the community, shouting for help in a weak voice. Only when she saw the light at the guardhouse was on did she finally feel relieved.

There was a man standing under the light at the intersection not far away, half exposed in the light and half hidden in the darkness. He had his hands in his pockets, exuding a cold air, staring at her fiercely. Although he was wrapped tightly, Xia Weining recognized him as Wei Zhan at a glance.

She sat on the ground and backed away little by little. After regaining some strength, she propped herself up and leaned against the gate of the community.

There was no access control system installed here, so she could only bang on the iron door to make noises. The security guard got up with a flashlight in his hand and muttered, "It's so late, who is it?"

"Open the door for me."

Seeing her like this, the uncle quickly went to open the door and asked, "Girl, are you okay?"

"Someone is chasing me."

Looking in the direction of her finger, there was no one there, and Wei Zhan was completely hidden in the darkness.

Xia Weining smiled, thanked the uncle, and walked into the community staggeringly.

She was afraid that Wei Zhan was following her, so she walked around the community before going back, closing the doors and windows, and taking precautions before washing up.

This time she was really exhausted. She lay in bed for a long time before the discomfort in her body gradually disappeared. She was tired and sleepy, and fell asleep in a short while.

“Knock, knock…”

Suddenly, there were several loud bangs on the door and the sound of glass bottles breaking. Xia Weining was immediately awakened from her sleep. She didn't dare to turn on the lights or make any noise. She walked carefully to the balcony with her mobile phone and called the police.

The noise on the door became louder and louder, and people started kicking and hitting it with an axe. Every sound scared her and she trembled. It seemed that Wei Zhan was not going to let her go.

In a small county town, face is the basis of survival and is more important than anything else. He is almost socially dead and will definitely take crazy revenge on Xia Weining.

Xia Weining didn't know if this door could hold up until the police arrived, so she had to find another way. If Wei Zhan broke in, she would be finished.

She could ask for help from people around her, but if she shouted in the room and Wei Zhan heard her, he would become even more crazy, so she chose the balcony.

The balconies of the apartments here are interconnected. She didn't know who lived around her and had never seen them before. But today, the lights were on, so she decided to take a chance. She used a clothesline to knock on the window next to her and shouted at the top of her lungs, "Help, help..."

Sheng Huaizhou had just finished taking a shower. The sound of running water faded away, and the clear sound of banging on the door next door reached his ears. A soft voice asking for help came from the balcony. He immediately understood, grabbed a towel to wipe his hair, pushed the door open and walked out.

"What are you doing?"

Hearing the scolding, Wei Zhan stopped what he was doing.

"I didn't do anything." He said and was about to leave, but was stopped by Sheng Huaizhou.

"Illegally invading someone else's home and causing trouble, what do you call doing nothing?"

"Go away and leave me alone."

"Then do you know where this place is?"

Wei Zhan reacted, "Are you a policeman?"

Sheng Huaizhou ignored him and subdued him with his backhand, "Behave yourself!"

Xia Weining hid behind the door and could hear the noise outside clearly. She knew she was fine. The knife in her hand fell straight to the ground and she collapsed on the ground, scared out of her wits. It was the first time she felt the threat of death at such a close distance.

She hugged her legs and trembled, tears flowing without her knowing.

The dispatched police arrived, and Sheng Huaizhou handed the man over to them and knocked on the door softly, "It's okay, are you okay?"

Xia Weining choked back tears and responded, "I'm fine."

He laughed when he heard the sound, his voice trembling as he continued to say that he was fine.

"Pack up. You need to go to the police station to make a statement."

"Okay, wait a moment."

Xia Weining wiped her tears, washed her face, changed her clothes, and opened the door that had been smashed badly. She was stunned for a moment when she saw the person in front of her. Sheng Huaizhou's eyes were also filled with shock.

The two pointed at each other and said in unison, "It's you!"
