Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Xia Weining didn't expect that Sheng Huaizhou would be her neighbor, and Sheng Huaizhou didn't expect that she would live here. If he didn't get off work too late, he would rarely stay here.

He was very tall and had just finished a shower, so his hair wasn't dry yet. Xia Weining could smell the scent of his shampoo. She kept her head down and said, "Thank you for what you did just now. I'll go to the police station first."

"Let me drive you there."

"That would be troublesome."

She went downstairs first, not daring to get too close to him.

Xia Weining has a problem. She doesn't dare to look directly at outstanding people. Maybe it's because of her inferiority complex. Even if she meets a tall, handsome, fresh and clean boy on the street, she doesn't dare to stare at him. She always feels that such a person is not someone she can desecrate.

This is also one of the psychological shadows left by her childhood.

There was another reason. She felt that Sheng Huaizhou had seen her worst side, so she didn't want to have too much involvement with him. She would subconsciously avoid him in order to maintain her self-esteem.

Sheng Huaizhou drove the car, and she sat in the back, looking out the window quietly, and was silent all the way.

When they arrived at the police station, Zheng Rui was waiting at the door. Xia Weining got out of the car and walked straight towards him. "Officer Zheng, I'm sorry to bother you again."

"This is our responsibility. How about you?"

Xia Weining smiled bitterly and shook her head. "I just want to know if he can be sentenced to a few years?"

"Given the current situation we have, it's unlikely to be effective yet. It will take a few months at most."

Sheng Huaizhou walked over, waving his car keys. His eyes swept over Xia Weining and finally landed on Zheng Rui. "How did the question go?"

"He said he was drunk and did it unconsciously."

"That's quite good, what do you think?"

"Combined with previous cases, comprehensive analysis shows that this is a targeted act of retaliation." Zheng Rui said, looking at Xia Weining, "Ms. Xia, please take another note."

"good."

She explained the whole story clearly, then smiled at the sympathetic people around her, "Can I go now?"

"Of course." Zheng Rui stood up. "I'll arrange for someone to take you there."

"No need, I'll take her back on the way." Sheng Huaizhou stood up with the car keys in his hand.

Xia Weining did not refuse. They were just strangers who met by chance. She needed a car and he could provide help. That was enough.

As soon as they walked out of the police station, Wei Zhan's wife came rushing over. Seeing Xia Weining suddenly stop, she gritted her teeth and asked her, "What do you want in exchange for letting our family go?"

She just thought the words were funny, "I'm the victim. Why don't you go ask your husband when he'll let me go."

"You're not at fault, are you? If you hadn't called the police first, would all this have happened?"

"If your husband hadn't hurt me, I naturally wouldn't have called the police. You two are truly a match made in heaven. One is a wolf's heart, the other is a dog's lungs."

"Comrade police officer," she began to persuade Sheng Huaizhou to stand in line. "You heard it all. Her words were so vicious, which shows she is not a good person either."

"Yes, I'm not a good person, so don't mess with me again, or I'll kill your whole family."

She gritted her teeth and said the last few words, which made people tremble.

Xia Weining had a cold face and pushed away Wei Zhan's wife who was blocking her way, "Get out of here!"

"I will definitely sue you, and you will not have a good ending." Wei Zhan's wife was so angry that she cursed loudly behind him. Xia Weining raised the corner of his mouth and snorted coldly, full of disdain.

Sitting in the car, she was still as quiet as ever. Sheng Huaizhou glanced at her in the rearview mirror and asked, "Why did you say that angry thing?"

Xia Weining continued to stare out the window and replied expressionlessly, "Maybe it wasn't just an angry remark."

Sheng Huaizhou didn't say anything else, and the two of them remained silent. When the car stopped at the community, Xia Weining expressed her gratitude again, then got out of the car and went home.

She is very calm now, as calm as a robot, neither sad nor happy, doing things exactly as instructed.

After experiencing so many things in just a few days, she was able to accept what happened after a brief panic. The key is how to solve it afterwards.

Xia Weining lay on the bed and thought seriously about countermeasures. She was lucky to be rescued this time, but she couldn't always rely on others. She still had to rely on herself. She must have enough self-protection ability.

She immediately made up her mind to learn boxing, which should be more suitable for her now than Taekwondo.

The next day, as she didn't have to go to work on the weekend, she packed her things and prepared to go out to register for classes. She happened to run into Sheng Huaizhou who was also going out. The two of them briefly met, neither of them spoke, and then they left the community and walked in different directions.

Xia Weining looked for several boxing gyms for comprehensive evaluation and finally chose one near the school where he could come to practice when he had no classes.

The coach handed her the signed contract and said, "Because you are older and your body is relatively stiff, the initial training will be very tiring and difficult. I hope you are mentally prepared."

"It's okay, I can hold on."

"That's fine. Just call me before you come."

"good."

Xia Weining stuffed the contract into his bag and walked out of the boxing gym.

She has nothing to do now, so she just wanders around the street alone.

"Teacher Xia."

She was still looking for the source of the sound when a car stopped in front of her, the window slowly lowered, and Xia Li and Sheng Xuan got out.

Before she could speak, she saw Sheng Huaizhou in the driver's seat and Xia Weining became curious.

"Why are you here?"

"Uncle redeemed the reward for my final exam and took me out for dinner. I asked Xia Li to come with me."

"Uncle?" Xia Weining couldn't believe it and pointed at Sheng Huaizhou and asked, "He is your uncle?"

"Yes." Sheng Xuan pursed his lips and nodded confidently, "Teacher Xia, do you know my uncle?"

"I don't know him."

Hearing her impatient denial, Sheng Huaizhou raised the corners of his mouth slightly, snorted coldly, and honked the horn heavily.

Xia Weining took a look and urged the two children, "Go quickly."

"Teacher Xia, please come with us. Let my uncle treat us. He has money."

Sheng Huaizhou: ...

Xia Weining: Ah, so embarrassing that I dug my toes into the ground.

Sometimes the maturity and meticulousness of adults can be defeated by children's words and phrases.

"Are you going or not?" Sheng Huaizhou urged again.

Xia Weining really didn't want to go, but the two kids each pulled her arm and stuffed her into the passenger seat.

She shifted around in her seat, feeling very uncomfortable.

Sheng Huaizhou glanced at him calmly, "What's the matter, urgent?"

Xia Weining fastened her seat belt, glared at him fiercely, and turned to look out the window.

She was thinking about Sheng Huaizhou and Sheng Xuan. They were not in her life before. That is to say, because this time she changed the trajectory of the past, she met new people, but is it good or bad to interact with them?

She didn't know and didn't dare to think about it, she just hoped it was a good thing.

Xia Weining didn't know whether she was too mature or had fallen into a bad habit. She didn't dare to hope for good luck. Whenever she met a person or something, her subconscious reaction was that it was a bad thing. Then when she realized that this idea was wrong, she would spend a long time telling herself that it was a good thing. In the end, it was very tiring and she often made herself very tired.

Sheng Huaizhou noticed her expression and found it very strange. She had a sense of determination and a hint of sadness. She looked energetic, but her underlying tone was pessimistic.

The four people were in completely different moods. The two children were in high spirits, discussing what to eat. Xia Weining remained quiet the entire time, trying her best to reduce her presence. Sheng Huaizhou looked indifferent, walking at the back with his hands in his pockets.

The ordering was completely dominated by the two children. They seemed to be competing with each other. They were both very cold and looked at each other from time to time and then quickly looked away.

Sheng Xuan handed the menu to Sheng Huaizhou, "Uncle, please order, otherwise it really looks like you came here specifically to pay."

Sheng Huaizhou tapped his head gently, "Isn't it?"

Xia Weining gave him a mocking look, quite self-aware.

Sheng Huaizhou caught her smile, put down the menu, and stared at her with a half-smile, a toothpick in his mouth, "Are you a teacher?"

"Yes, what advice do you have?"

"I wouldn't call it guidance, but I think teaching and educating people is quite sacred."

"Thank you for your praise for my work. I think the people's police are great."

Although both of them were praising each other's profession, there was a sense of tension in their tone and attitude.

The two children were frightened by the aggressive look and had to lower their heads and eat in silence.

Xia Weining felt a little hungry looking at the sumptuous food. She couldn't let her stomach suffer for any reason, so she grabbed the food and started eating.

Sheng Huaizhou laughed out loud, "I thought you were above the mundane world."

"I'm splitting the bill with you. Why can't I eat the meal I bought myself?" She stared at him meaningfully, "Everyone eats. Why don't you eat?"

Sheng Huaizhou took the food angrily and ate it in big mouthfuls, as if he had some deep hatred.

The other three laughed so hard that they almost spit out laughter.

Before he finished eating, Sheng Huaizhou's phone rang. He had a temporary task. He looked at Xia Weining and said, "Please send the two children back."

"Don't worry, just get busy."

After he left, Xia Weining breathed a sigh of relief and suddenly started an exaggerated performance, "The pressure cooker is gone, and the air has finally returned to normal."

The two children laughed at her, and Xia Li explained to Sheng Huaizhou seriously, "Actually, Brother Huaizhou is a very good person."

Xia Weining found it unbelievable, "He is Sheng Xuan's uncle, is it appropriate for you to call him brother?"

Xia Li looked serious like a little adult, "I used to call him uncle, but he said it was old, so I don't need to call him the same as Sheng Xuan, we can just call each other by our own name."

"Tsk, you're quite good at flattering yourself."

Sheng Xuan's big eyes were full of questions, "Teacher Xia, did you know my uncle before, and did he offend you?"

"No." Xia Weining shook her head. Suddenly, something occurred to her. She held her face in her hands and asked in horror, "Does my relationship with him look bad?"

"Well, very bad."

The two children looked at each other and gave her an answer in unison. Afraid that she wouldn't believe them, they pouted and nodded heavily. Xia Weining was afraid that something was wrong with their heads, so she hurriedly stopped them, "Okay, okay, I believe you, stop nodding."

Xia Weining was also very confused. Logically, it was Sheng Huaizhou who saved her, and she was very grateful to him, but for some reason, she got easily irritated when she met him, and her emotions instantly rose. She thought about it carefully and thought it might be related to his attitude.
