Feng Ye arrived at the police station with practiced ease.
After all, he had already come once yesterday.
As soon as I entered the police station's courtyard, I was greeted by a young police officer in his early twenties, who looked even younger than Feng Ye.
It was none other than the junior police officer who had received his report yesterday. He didn't know the officer's name and had never introduced himself.
The junior police officer was surprised to see Feng Ye: "Hey, aren't you the one who came to report the case yesterday? Are you in such a hurry to ask about the decision on whether to file a case?"
He had barely finished speaking when he continued, answering his own question, "How could it be so fast? Our director just took the materials to the county this morning and hasn't returned yet. You need to..."
"No, I'm here today for something else."
Feng Ye quickly interrupted him, stopping him from continuing.
This young police officer is great in every way, and he's quite warm-hearted, but he's a bit of a chatterbox.
"Oh, no!"
There was still a hint of regret in the young police officer's words that he had guessed wrong.
His expression immediately turned serious, and he said, "What brings you here today? Not to report another crime, is it? What kind of case is it? Not another fraud case..."
Feng Ye had an urge to stuff the young policeman's mouth with a smelly sock; it was just too ridiculous.
Before he could even say anything, this young policeman started babbling on and on, making random, aimless guesses.
"Officer, stop, can you wait until I finish speaking?"
Feng Ye quickly made a stop gesture.
The young policeman paused for a moment, then gave an awkward smile: "Oh, go ahead, go ahead."
Feng Ye then said, "It's like this, I originally wanted to see your director today, but since you said the director went to the county and hasn't returned yet, then you can see your instructor instead."
"Oh, you're looking for the instructor? He's here. What do you need him for? Can you tell me? Actually, there are many things I can tell you; there's no need to go to the leaders. You..."
The young policeman kept talking to himself, and as he spoke, he saw Feng Ye's face darken with exasperation, finally realizing that his talkative nature had kicked in again.
He quickly shut his mouth, scratched his head, and smiled sheepishly: "Go ahead."
Feng Ye took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down, before saying, "It's like this, today when we went out to sea, we found a body..."
"A corpse?"
The young police officer gasped in surprise, then eagerly asked, "What kind of body? Male or female? How many days has she been dead? Was it suicide or homicide? Are there any wounds on her body? Knife wounds, gunshot wounds, or blunt force trauma?"
Feng Ye was speechless with exasperation.
This young policeman really can't control his chatter at all.
Moreover, he seems to be even more talkative than yesterday.
Feng Ye interrupted the young policeman: "Comrade, can you let me finish speaking first?"
The young policeman was taken aback, then scratched his head and gave an embarrassed smile: "Go on, go on."
"The body is a male corpse. I didn't find any injuries; it should be a drowning. But..."
Feng Ye emphasized, "The body was wearing a police uniform and had a gun on it. Therefore, we transported the body to the town and handed it over to your police for arrangements."
"Are you one of our police officers? No wonder you immediately asked to see our leader."
The young police officer was taken aback.
"There's no mistake, it must be the police."
Feng Ye nodded.
"Okay, I'll take you to find the instructor right away."
After saying that, the young policeman jogged towards the stairs between the two-story building.
Seeing this, Feng Ye quickly followed.
In the instructor's office on the far left of the second floor, a man in his forties was looking down at documents.
The young policeman led Feng Ye to the door, called out "Report!" and, after receiving permission, pushed the door open and entered.
"Instructor, this comrade said they found a body dressed in a police uniform at sea, along with a service weapon..."
As soon as the young policeman entered, he couldn't wait to start chattering away.
"Alright, save your breath."
The instructor interrupted him impatiently, then glanced at Feng Ye and introduced himself: "My name is Zhu Hongjun, and I am the instructor of this police station."
Then he added, "You, the person involved, should speak."
Feng Ye walked to the desk and briefly explained the situation.
After listening, Zhu Hongjun frowned and said in a deep voice, "Are you sure it's a police uniform and a service weapon?"
"Those clothes are exactly the same as what you're wearing now; what else could they be but police uniforms? As for the sidearms, they're right here."
Feng Ye nodded firmly, took the gun out of his pocket, and placed it on the table.
Why didn't you say earlier that you brought a gun?
The young policeman's eyes widened.
Feng Ye said innocently, "You didn't ask either?"
Zhu Hongjun waved his hand to stop the junior policeman who was about to speak again, picked up his sidearm and examined it: "This is indeed a police sidearm."
"I fired two bullets from here."
When Feng Ye saw that he wanted to remove the magazine to check the condition of the bullets, he admitted it first.
Zhu Hongjun didn't take it seriously and said with a smile, "Never handled a gun before? Want to try?"
He quickly disassembled the magazine, glanced at it, and said, "Hmm, two bullets are indeed missing."
“No, that’s not it.” Feng Ye shook his head. “We had a conflict with that group of people at the dock. They were blocking us at the dock with knives and iron pipes, so I fired two shots to intimidate them.”
"I hope no one was hurt? If someone was hurt, things will get complicated."
Upon hearing this, Zhu Hongjun frowned.
“No, I didn’t dare to hit anyone, for fear of something going wrong,” Feng Ye said. “So one shot was fired into the air, and the other shot hit the ground.”
