Ye Qingling, Du Guilan, and A-Can's mother were all on board the Rising Sun for the first time, and it was also their first time going to a deserted island to fish.
As the saying goes, three women make a drama.
Sure enough, the three women looked around and started chatting away.
As always, Feng Xuan was in charge of setting up the boat.
Unless it's daytime and the sea conditions are good, Feng Xuan wouldn't feel comfortable letting Feng Ye and A Can sail the boat.
Ah-Can, being a novice who had only driven a boat a few times, was filled with excitement and stayed in the wheelhouse watching Feng-Xuan steer the boat.
Feng Ye was happy to have some peace and quiet, so he found a sheltered spot and lay down.
Since buying the boat, he feels like he hasn't had a good night's sleep, and he's always very tired when he goes out to sea.
Perhaps this body's biological clock hasn't adjusted yet, and it hasn't adapted to this life of waking up early every day.
When he woke up again, the sky was already turning light, and Crescent Island was in sight.
After sailing for another ten minutes or so, the Rising Sun gradually slowed down and approached Crescent Island.
It was only a little past five o'clock, and the tide was almost back to the bottom, with the water level quite low.
Feng Xuan piloted the Rising Sun around the island and then chose a low-lying reef to dock on.
As soon as the boat stopped, Xiao Guowen and Xiao Guowu jumped off the boat, grabbed the rope, and tied it to the reef.
The three women chatted excitedly all the way, and now they excitedly carried their buckets and tools off the boat and stepped onto the rocks.
This reef is home to many mussels, and also to many snails clinging to it.
As soon as Ye Qingling reached the reef, she spotted a sea snail the size of an adult's fist.
She excitedly took two quick steps, then bent down to pick it up.
Unexpectedly, the oyster shell had a particularly strong adhesive force, and she couldn't pull it off immediately.
With another pull, the oyster shell was pulled off, but too much force was used.
"oops……"
Ye Qingling stumbled and almost fell, but fortunately Du Guilan caught her from behind.
"Ah Ling, be careful."
Du Guilan helped Ye Qingling to her feet and said with some lingering fear.
Hearing the commotion, Feng Ye quickly went to the bow of the boat and asked anxiously, "What's wrong?"
Ye Qingling shook her head: "It's nothing, I just almost tripped and fell."
Feng Ye breathed a sigh of relief: "Be careful, these rocks are not like a beach, it's dangerous to fall."
"I understand. I got a little too excited when I saw this big snail. I'll be more careful from now on."
Ye Qingling held up the oyster shell in her hand and showed it to Feng Ye.
“Such large oyster shells are rare; they’re almost impossible to find on the village’s beaches. No wonder you’re excited. But no matter how much you collect, nothing is more important than safety.”
"Um."
After saying a few words, Feng Ye stopped talking.
We're all adults; there's no need to lecture us like we're children.
After Xiao Guowen and Xiao Guowu unloaded the coal stove and other things from the boat, Feng Ye jumped off the boat, untied the mooring rope, and prepared to go fishing.
They have no interest in fishing; they make money from trawling.
However, they need to collect their longline fishing first.
We'll collect it once now, and then collect it again before we go back this afternoon.
Perhaps because Feng Ye spent several hours in this area yesterday afternoon, a lot of fish gathered there, and they were left there for a longer time.
The catch from longline fishing was much better than yesterday afternoon's catch; on average, one fish was caught every four or five hook pulls.
The fish caught this time by longline fishing were mostly barracuda and toadfish, accounting for about half of the catch.
Sea wolves can understand this; they often gather in groups, and it's possible that a school of fish has gathered there.
But toadfish don't have a distinct fishing season and mostly live alone, so how come there are so many of them?
The rest of the fish that were pulled up were a mixed bag, including black sea bream, yellow sea bream, sea bass, mackerel, eel, red snapper, and bluefin tuna...
It has everything, with more than twenty varieties.
These fish are generally not very big; the largest weighs only three or four pounds, while the smallest weighs only about one pound.
They weighed about 200 jin (100 kg) in total, and most of them were still quite fresh.
That's a good start.
After finishing with the longline fishing, Ah-Can rushed to the wheelhouse to start the boat.
Once the Rising Sun was far away from the area where longline fishing was being done, Feng Ye and Feng Xuan went to the stern deck and lowered the trawl net.
The boat speed increased slightly, reaching about 4.5 knots.
Feng Ye stood at the stern, gazing at the long water tracks plowed by the trawl net, his heart filled with anticipation.
The ocean's generosity always brings surprises, and each harvest is the best reward for their hard work.
The Rising Sun cruise ship moved slowly through the waters, a gentle sea breeze carrying the salty scent of the ocean, mixed with a faint fishy smell – the unique aroma of the sea.
After watching for a while, Feng Ye went to the driver's seat.
It's getting a bit hot under the sun!
The fishy smell in the cabin was too strong and unpleasant; only the wheelhouse provided some shade.
Feng Xuan, however, didn't mind the fishy smell and took a nap in the cabin.
After more than an hour, an isolated island appeared in front of the Rising Sun.
Without needing anyone to remind him, Ah-Can reacted promptly, adjusting his course to try and bypass the island from the left.
They hadn't gone far when Feng Ye spotted a black object protruding from the sea ahead.
No matter how the waves crashed against it, the black thing remained motionless, as if it were fixed in place.
"That's... a reef?"
Feng Ye snapped to attention and realized what was happening.
Submarine reefs are difficult to guard against, like invisible killers.
