Chapter 155 The Return Journey

In no time, Feng Ye surfaced on the sea.

Sunlight fell on his wet skin, making it glisten with water droplets.

He took off his breathing mask, took a deep breath of fresh air, and felt the sea breeze gently caressing his cheeks.

Just as he was trying to find the location of the Rising Sun, Ah-chan's familiar voice entered his ears.

"Brother Ye, you were just going down to set up the trap, why did it take you so long? I thought something had happened to you, I was just about to jump down to look for you."

His voice, a mixture of anxiety and relief, echoed in the distance.

Feng Ye looked in the direction the sound came from and saw Ah Can standing shirtless at the bow of the Rising Sun ship floating on the sea about twenty meters away, looking at him with a worried expression.

He smiled slightly and waved to Ah-Can, indicating that he was alright.

"The part that got stuck in the cage was a bit deep, so it took a little longer," Feng Ye explained.

He looked around and realized that he was now very close to the island next to him, only about a hundred meters away.

"Very deep? Isn't the water shallow where we set the traps?"

After hearing Feng Ye's explanation, A-Can asked in surprise:

Feng Ye nodded and replied, "I'm about fifteen meters below right now. The fish trap was washed down by the waves and is now hanging on the coral reef."

Ah-Can suddenly realized and exclaimed, "Oh, I see. No wonder you were gone for so long."

Feng Ye swam to the side of the boat, threw the sea cucumber he was holding onto it, and then climbed onto the boat using both his hands and feet.

Ah-Can caught the sea cucumber that was thrown onto the boat and exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, you caught such a big sea cucumber?"

Feng Ye smiled and said while taking off his flippers, "I found it in the mud and sand on the seabed. I almost missed it. I reckon there should be plenty of sea cucumbers down there."

He gazed at the sea, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

Upon hearing this, Ah-Can couldn't help but get excited: "Then why didn't you catch more?"

Feng Ye rolled her eyes at him and said irritably, "That's a really stupid question. If I had something on me, would I not arrest me?"

He shook his head helplessly, but also felt a little regretful for not being fully prepared.

He knew there were abalone and conch on the rocks below, but he didn't plan to dive and catch them today. He just wanted to try to dismantle the machinery from the sunken ship.

But seeing the dense array of seafood below the cliff made me itchy to buy it all.

Ah-Can scratched his head and laughed awkwardly, "I forgot you didn't bring anything down with you."

He sighed and said, "It's a pity there's no net or anything like that on the ship."

Feng Ye waved his hand dismissively: "There's nothing to regret. We'll make a few nets when we get back. We won't use trawling nets when we come back tomorrow; we'll take turns diving down to catch them."

"Yes, come again tomorrow."

Ah-Can's eyes gleamed with excitement, as if he could already see the scene of returning home with a full load tomorrow.

“It might not be safe here anymore. To avoid being caught by the people from Longtail Island again, we need to catch all the abalone and other fish here in the next few days and then move to another area.”

"Yes, it's better to avoid it. We were lucky these two times. If it happens again, we're probably doomed."

Ah-Can nodded, a worried look on his face.

The hostility of the people on Longtail Island towards them is already obvious. They have already come seeking revenge once, and it is hard to guarantee that there won't be a second time.

Two ships sank in succession. Although they were not directly responsible, they had undoubtedly created a deep-seated hatred between them.

If they are found again, the consequences will be unimaginable; they will certainly not have a good time.

Besides, even if they manage to escape again, the secret of the reef is very likely to be lost and stolen.

Therefore, the most urgent task is to take advantage of the time while the people on Longtail Island are still living like savages on the island, and then quickly clear out all the seafood on the reef and leave the area.

"If you had known this would happen, you should have asked Xuan-ge to buy an extra set of diving gear, then we wouldn't have had to take turns diving," Ah-chan sighed.

They only have one set of diving equipment, so they have to take turns diving, which greatly reduces their efficiency.

But what's done is done, and regret won't help.

"Sigh, who would have thought they would come seeking revenge?"

Feng Ye shook his head, looking helpless, and then said, "It's no use talking about this now. Let's hurry up and pull up the cage, then go back."

We were delayed by the people on Longtail Island, and it took us almost an hour to help the orca untangle its fishing nets. Now it's quite late.

That's all we can do for today. We don't even have time to dive down again to dismantle the shipwreck's machinery. We can only leave it to soak in the water.

The next group of ten traps clearly became the highlight of the day, yielding a much richer harvest than most of the traps caught earlier.

Especially those earth cages that fell into the cliff, returned laden with their catch, bringing pleasant surprises.

When Feng Ye and A Can opened the cages, they were both stunned by what they saw.

They captured more than thirty of the small green dragons alone.

These small green dragons are plump and full of vitality, clearly the finest of the sea.

In comparison, although there were only a dozen or so sea cucumbers, each one was plump and firm.

The smaller ones weigh about two ounces, while the larger ones weigh three ounces, enough to satisfy anyone.

Sea cucumbers move relatively slowly and hide deep on the seabed, so it's quite lucky that the trap can catch so many.
