The Chinese horseshoe crab has been recorded more than a thousand years ago.
In his book "Lingbiao Luyi" written during the Tang Dynasty, Liu Xun wrote: "Horseshoe crabs have shells that are smooth and clean like celadon bowls. They have flat backs, eyes on their backs, and mouths on their bellies... Inside their bellies are eggs the size of mung beans. Southerners take them, break up their flesh and legs, mix them with sauce, and eat them. There is a pearl in their tail, which is chestnut-yellow in color. The females are smaller. When placed in water, the males float while the females sink."
"Wow, that's amazing! I'll take them home and raise them," Feng Xidong said excitedly.
Feng Ye shook his head: "We can't keep them at home. Horseshoe crabs need a specific living environment."
"Can it be sold for money?"
Feng Xidong changed his mind again.
Feng Ye hesitated before saying, "I think it should be okay."
Logically, it should be possible, but he's never sold this before, so he's not really sure.
He knew that this creature would be a protected animal in later generations, but he wasn't sure if it would be now.
But after thinking about it, he still said, "However, let's release it. After all, it's not easy for them to live for hundreds of millions of years, and there are relatively few of them now."
"All right."
Feng Xidong nodded with some disappointment.
Fearing that someone else would find them, Feng Ye forcefully threw the two horseshoe crabs into the distant sea.
The two then continued their search for seafood in the rocky area.
There was indeed more seafood in the rocky area than on the beach.
Besides blue crabs, they also found some stone crabs, mantis shrimps, prawns, sea urchins, and various kinds of shellfish and snails.
As for fish, only a few rock goby fish were found.
I didn't see any other fish. I don't know if they weren't stranded or if someone picked them up.
The two walked and stopped along the way, and before they knew it, the small snakeskin bag had grown quite heavy.
"That's enough, let's go back."
Feng Ye glanced at the sky and decided it was time to go home.
Moreover, the tide has started to rise.
Although Feng Xidong was still somewhat reluctant to leave, he obediently nodded and followed behind Feng Ye.
