Chapter 197 Skeletonized Corpse, Samurai Sword

Ah-Can quickly ran into the cabin and came out with a set of domestically made diving equipment that he had stolen.

The two quickly dressed and checked themselves before jumping into the azure sea.

The underwater world is tranquil and mysterious, with light filtering through the seawater, creating a soft and hazy effect.

They slowly descended to the seabed and searched along the trails left by the trawl net.

The trawl net had been dragging underwater for over an hour, making it impossible to pinpoint where the Thousand-Mile Eyes statue had been caught. Now, the only option is to search back along the trawl net's trail.

Although it was quite difficult and physically demanding, both of them understood that this was currently their only clue.

They were like two fish in the sea, constantly darting through the water, their eyes peering through their breathing masks at every inch of the seabed.

However, before they could make any discovery, an embarrassing incident occurred.

Their breathing tubes weren't long enough.

Feng Ye felt a slight pulling force on his head, and was startled. He quickly signaled to A-Can to stop immediately.

He pointed to the straightened breathing tube and then made a floating motion.

Upon seeing this, Ah-Can understood the current predicament, nodded, and quickly responded.

The two slowly and deliberately swung their flippers to float up.

"This won't work. The snorkel is too short. We can't swim very far on the seabed before we have to surface and bring the boat over so we can continue. We need to think of another way."

The moment Feng Ye surfaced, he took off his mask and said to A-Can.

"Why don't we go to the boat and get a buoy, and tie the other end of the breathing tube to the buoy?"

Ah-chan immediately thought of the method those people on Long Tail Island used to dive and catch abalone.

"No, the waves are a bit big today. The buoy is likely to be capsized by the waves, and then seawater will get into the snorkel, which will be troublesome."

Feng Ye shook his head, rejecting A-Can's suggestion.

"Then what should we do?"

Ah-chan frowned, unable to think of a better solution for the moment.

Feng Ye pondered for a moment: "The only option is for one person to dive down and search, while the other person stays on the boat and follows slowly."

“Brother Ye, I…”

Just as Ah-Can was about to say he would go down to look for it, Feng Ye raised his hand to interrupt him: "You go and steer the boat, I'll go diving."

Ah-Can opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but Feng Ye said again, "Don't even think about arguing with me. Your diving skills aren't as good as mine. If there's any unexpected situation, I can handle it, but you might not be able to."

Seeing Feng Ye's determined gaze, Ah Can knew he couldn't win, so he could only nod dejectedly: "I'll go start the boat."

After returning to the ship, Ah-chan took off his diving equipment and went into the wheelhouse to start the diesel engine.

Once the Rising Sun started moving and the breathing tube loosened, Feng Ye plunged back into the water.

Ah-Can kept an eye on the snorkel's condition and carefully steered the boat, moving slowly near the area where Feng Ye might be diving.

Feng Ye quickly dived back to the seabed and continued his search by following the trail of the trawl net.

He stared intently, carefully searching every inch of what might be unusual.

After swimming for more than twenty minutes without stopping, Feng Ye wanted to go up to get some fresh air and rest.

Just then, he suddenly noticed something unusual among the water plants to his left.

He quickly swam over, which startled the fish and shrimp darting among the water plants, causing them to scatter and flee.

Feng Ye didn't think much of it, swam to the unusual spot, and parted the water plants.

When I finally saw what was hidden among the water plants, I was startled and a chill ran from the soles of my feet to the top of my head.

"Damn, how come there's a corpse here?"

His heart pounded instantly, almost bursting out of his chest, and without thinking, he stepped back.

Only after he retreated a distance and could no longer see the person did the fear in his heart gradually dissipate.

He had an urge to float straight up, but he was also somewhat unwilling to give up.

Because in that fleeting glimpse, he had seen something that looked like a box on the corpse.

After resting on the mud and sand at the bottom of the sea for a while, he also pondered for a moment, and finally decided to go up and take another look.

Composing himself, Feng Ye took a deep breath and mustered his courage to step forward again.

As he approached the patch of water plants, fear gripped him once more.

However, this time, because I was mentally prepared, it wasn't as intense as before.

Moreover, his intense curiosity also reduced his fear to some extent.

He carefully parted the water plants, and the corpse came into view once again.

This is a completely skeletal corpse, half-buried in the mud and sand, and even its clothes have completely rotted away.

At the waist of the corpse, a small box covered with a layer of mud and sand was tightly held by a pair of skeletal hands.

This shows that the box was very important to the body during its lifetime.

"I'm sorry to bother you, please don't take offense!"

Feng Ye clasped his hands together and bowed three times to the skeletal corpse.

He swallowed hard, mustered his courage, and carefully removed the bones from the box one by one before gently lifting it up.

The box wasn't big, but it was very hard and cool to the touch, like it was made of some kind of metal. It was also very heavy and had a lock on it.

"Damn it, what's with the lock?"

Feng Ye cursed inwardly, thinking that he had no choice but to take it up and open it.

Just as I was about to surface, I caught a glimpse of something else buried in the mud next to the body, with only a tiny bit showing in the seawater.

After silently repeating "Don't blame me" a couple more times, Feng Ye cleared away the mud and sand and dug the object out.

It was a long sword, and the scabbard rotted the moment he picked it up.
