Chapter 23 Selling at a High Price

"Mr. Qin, do you recognize this?"

Feng Ye thought of the goose barnacles in the bucket, and since he had just run into President Qin, he wondered if there was an opportunity to promote them.

"Buddha's hand snail? These are cheap, how come you..."

President Qin frowned, his unspoken meaning clear.

"So even President Qin doesn't know him."

Feng Ye looked disappointed, thinking to himself that it was probably really impossible to sell them.

"Isn't this a Buddha's Hand snail?"

President Qin looked at Feng Ye with a strange expression.

Feng Ye shook his head: "This is a goose barnacle, not a Buddha's hand snail."

President Qin suddenly exclaimed excitedly, "Goose barnacles? They really are goose barnacles?"

"Mr. Qin, have you heard of goose barnacles?"

"I've heard of it, but I've never seen it. I've heard that it's very popular abroad, especially in Europe, and is known as 'seafood from hell'."

“I found it by accident yesterday, and then risked my life to dig it up, but unfortunately no one recognized its value and they all thought it was a basil.” Feng Ye sighed and added, “It seems I can only take it back and taste this ‘seafood from hell’ myself.”

Feng Ye certainly didn't really want to bring it up again; he was just trying to provoke him.

"Wait a moment." After saying that, President Qin waved to the security guard, "Xiao Han, go and call the head chef."

"Yes, Mr. Qin."

Security guard Xiao Han responded and jogged towards the kitchen.

"Mr. Qin, are you the owner of Jinghong Hotel?"

Feng Ye feigned sudden realization, but in reality, he had already guessed it.

What puzzled him was how Feng Jiafa knew the owner of Jinghong Hotel.

Even if Feng Jiafa is one of the suppliers of Jinghong Hotel, he can only have contact with the kitchen and purchasing departments at most, and he can't contact General Manager Qin.

A big boss and a middleman from a fishing village—there was absolutely no possibility of them crossing paths.

"What boss? He just has a small stake and makes a little money."

President Qin learned it on the spot and laughed at himself after saying it out loud.

"I don't ask for much, just a little money is enough."

Feng Ye smiled in response.

He was now absolutely certain who this Mr. Qin was.

President Qin is Qin Aijun, the current major shareholder of Jinghong Hotel and the future major shareholder of Jinghong International Hotel.

He had heard about this person's legendary experiences in his past life and had even seen his photos online.

However, Qin Aijun in the photo is already over 70 years old, and his appearance is quite different from his current appearance, which is why he did not recognize him at all.

He remembered watching a TV series called "Raging Storm" in his previous life. The characters Gao Qiqiang and Qin Aijun were quite similar. They both started as fishmongers and were involved in organized crime, but their fates were worlds apart.

Qin Aijun was smarter and luckier than Gao Qiqiang. He cleaned up his act early on and not only successfully avoided the crackdown on organized crime, but also became a well-known entrepreneur in the county, city and even province.

However, although Qin Aijun is no longer involved in organized crime at this stage, he has not been completely exonerated.

What puzzled Feng Ye was why Qin Aijun was so easy to talk to and chatted so enthusiastically with him, a nobody.

“Little by little, it’s just a little bit more, it’s just a little bit more,” Qin Aijun said cheerfully.

After chatting with Qin Aijun for a few more minutes, the head chef, wearing a chef's hat, arrived and immediately said to Qin Aijun, "President Qin, you wanted to see me?"

Qin Aijun pointed to the goose barnacles in Feng Ye's bucket: "Master Liu, do you recognize what this is?"

"This isn't a Buddha... no, this is... a goose barnacle!"

Master Liu looked surprised.

"Are you sure it's a goose barnacle?"

“I’m sure, this is a goose barnacle. I’ve seen it abroad. But I haven’t seen it since I returned to China, so I didn’t recognize it at first.”

"Young man...wait, I don't know your name yet."

"My name is Feng Ye, Mr. Qin can just call me Xiao Feng."

"Xiao Feng, right? What's your relationship with Feng Jiafa?"

"According to seniority, I should call him Uncle. Mr. Qin, how come such a big boss like you knows Uncle Fa?"

Feng Ye still voiced the question that had been bothering him.

“You’ll have to ask him about that, if he’s willing to tell you.” A flash of recollection crossed Qin Aijun’s eyes, then his expression turned serious. “Let’s not talk about him. Let’s talk about the goose barnacles in your bucket.”

"There are four jin and eight liang of this in total. What price is Mr. Qin willing to offer?"

Qin Aijun did not answer, but instead turned his gaze to Master Liu.

"Domestic prices are definitely not comparable to those abroad. First, the brand is not well-known; second, the quality is unknown; and third, not many people know about it, and even fewer are willing to spend a lot of money to eat it."

After considering it for a moment, Mr. Liu said, "As for the price, I can only offer 50 yuan per jin at most."

Whether out of fear of President Qin or fear that Feng Ye thought the price he quoted was too low, he quickly explained, "If it weren't for the fact that there are a few foreigners staying at the shop, I wouldn't recommend accepting it."

"Okay, that's the price."

Feng Ye's tone appeared somewhat unwilling, but in reality, he was overjoyed.

He didn't know exactly how much this thing was worth, only that decades later, the good quality ones could sell for four or five thousand yuan per kilogram, and the top-quality ones had been auctioned off for nearly ten thousand yuan per unit.

He can't compare to later generations; he's already quite satisfied with selling it for 50 yuan a unit these days.

"Xiao Han, go again and tell Fatty Nie to come down and settle the bill."

General Manager Qin instructed the security guard to run an errand, and Master Liu carried the bucket to the back kitchen.

A short while later, Fatty Nie came down.

It was none other than the well-dressed, chubby purchasing manager who had come before.

"Mr. Qin, you wanted to see me?"

Fatty Nie trotted up to President Qin, bowing and scraping like a lackey.

"Fatty Nie, you'd like to pay for the goose barnacles that Xiao Feng brought earlier."

"Ah, that really is a goose barnacle, not a bergamot? Mr. Qin, I'm sorry, I was too ignorant and almost missed out on something good."

Fatty Nie's round face immediately turned into a bitter face.

"Remember, next time you encounter something you don't recognize, ask Master Liu to come and take a look. Don't just refuse to buy it outright."

"President Qin's words of advice are well-founded; I will certainly keep them in mind."

Fatty Nie nodded repeatedly, looking meek and obedient.

Then, he turned to Feng Ye and bowed slightly: "Mr. Feng, I was wrong before, please forgive me."

The more arrogant they were before, the more humble they are now.

Feng Ye was stunned by the fat man's actions.

This fat guy is so flexible and adaptable; it's a waste of his talent to be a purchasing manager.

"Manager Nie, there's no need for that. I was also wrong before; I didn't explain things clearly."

What else could Feng Ye do but forgive him?

"Little Feng, if you catch anything rare in the future, you can send it over. Just go to Fatty Nie, and he'll definitely give you a good price."

"Yes, Mr. Qin."

"That's settled then, I'll go up now."

After Qin Aimin left, Fatty Nie readily settled the bill with Feng Ye.
