After five rounds of CPR, Feng Ye checked his carotid artery, but there was still no pulse.
"How about it?"
The woman looked on with hopeful eyes.
Feng Ye shook his head: "Continue."
As he spoke, he continued chest compressions.
The woman suddenly collapsed, wailing, "Will this method even work? Husband, wake up..."
"Don't worry, there's still time. Only if the heartbeat doesn't return within half an hour can death be declared."
Feng Ye pressed down hard while trying to comfort her.
"Guixiang, stop crying. Didn't we say there was still time? Quickly wipe your tears and get ready to blow air into your man."
"Yeah, crying won't solve anything. Cheer up."
"Yes, yes, we have no other choice but to believe in him. Don't give up, just hang in there a little longer."
People in the surrounding crowd, whether they knew the woman or not, all offered words of advice.
Upon hearing this, the woman named Guixiang stopped crying, wiped away her tears, and forced herself to cheer up.
But her heart was sinking, and she no longer held much hope.
After another round of CPR, just as Feng Ye was about to continue compressions, he heard someone suddenly shout excitedly, "He moved! He moved! I saw his fingers move!"
"I saw it too!"
Others with sharp eyes also noticed and quickly chimed in.
All eyes were on Feng Ye, their eyes filled with hope.
"Really? It really moved?"
Gui Xiang said excitedly, her heart filled with conflicting emotions. She was both happy and afraid, afraid that it was just an illusion and that they had misjudged her.
Feng Ye was also delighted and immediately reached out to check the man's carotid artery.
Sure enough, there was a pulse!
"His heartbeat has indeed returned; he's temporarily alive."
Hearing him say that, everyone breathed a sigh of relief and their faces lit up with joy.
They actually saved him!
Gui Xiang burst into laughter through her tears: "That's wonderful, that's really wonderful..."
"Don't get too excited, keep going, his heart could stop beating again at any moment."
Upon hearing this, everyone was startled once again.
Gui Xiang's heart also jumped into her throat.
She was truly afraid that this was just an illusion, or perhaps a final burst of energy before death.
After speaking, Feng Ye clasped his hands together and continued to count silently while pressing the buttons in a certain rhythm.
Even after heartbeat and breathing have resumed, they may stop again, requiring continued intervention.
It wasn't until two more rounds of CPR that the man finally opened his eyes, and his face and lips, no longer cyanotic or purple, regained their rosy color.
This indicates that the CPR was successful!
"My goodness, I finally managed to save her. I was almost exhausted."
Feng Ye finally breathed a sigh of relief and plopped down on the deck.
He didn't feel it while performing CPR, but once he stopped, he realized that his hands were not only sore and painful from the excessive force, but also trembling.
Gui Xiang, on the other hand, burst into tears of joy, hugging the still bewildered man as she cried and laughed.
"You're amazing! You actually managed to bring the dead back to life."
"It's a good thing you were here today, otherwise Ah Yi would have been finished."
"Yes, they were really lucky to be alive. Luckily, Ah Ye knew how to do CPR, otherwise we would have had to prepare for the worst."
"This method is really amazing; we all thought it was useless..."
Those around him watched from beginning to end, witnessing firsthand how Feng Ye brought a person back to life after their heart had stopped beating and breathing. They were all incredibly excited, praising and discussing the story.
Feng Ye was so tired that he didn't want to say a word, and kept shaking his aching hands.
"Ah Ye, could you teach me your CPR technique?"
A man from Dongtou Village approached Feng Ye and asked with a hopeful look.
His words were immediately echoed by everyone, and they all wanted to learn from him.
"No problem, this method is quite simple, the pressure points..."
Feng Ye roused himself and explained the key points of CPR, as well as the signs of success.
Everyone listened attentively and took careful notes.
After all, this is a method to save lives, and it might come in handy sometime.
Gui Xiang calmed down and stood up to express her gratitude to everyone, saying that she would definitely visit them to thank them when she got back.
After introducing himself, Feng Ye said, "Although your husband has been saved, it's best to take him to the county hospital for a check-up to avoid any long-term effects."
"Thank you, thank you. I'll take him to the county office later. We're so grateful to you today. We'll come to thank you in person when we get back."
Gui Xiang nodded repeatedly, her eyes filled with gratitude.
Just then, someone suggested, "Why don't we go to the county to sell the fish together? We've almost caught enough, and the containers are nearly full. Maybe we can get a better price in the county."
"Yes, we caught too many fish today. The vendors in the village might not be able to handle them all, and they might even try to lower the price, which would result in a huge loss for them."
“I agree. With so many of us going together, we can look out for each other and won’t have to worry about those thugs at the docks.”
"If we can earn a little more, then let's go together."
"Together, together..."
Everyone agreed and returned to their own ships.
Feng Ye also returned to the Rising Sun and continued to sit slumped over, swinging his arms.
"Brother Ye, you're awesome."
Ah-chan gave a thumbs up, then asked curiously, "Where did you learn CPR?"
"I saw it in a newspaper before, and I thought it was useful, so I wrote it down."
