Chapter 340 Whale Shark

"Ah Can, bring the crane over here. I'm going to get it up here today."

Feng Ye was furious.

Ah-Can had just untied the safety rope. Upon hearing this, he didn't say much, ran a few steps, and pulled the crane over.

With the crane saving their energy, both of them felt much more relaxed and no longer had to exert so much effort.

Feng Ye and A Can worked together to pull the rope that had passed through the pulley system, and the hand-thrown net was gradually pulled out of the water.

Sure enough, there was a sailfish in the net, which looked to be over two meters long.

The hand-thrown net was already beyond repair, completely ruined by the sailfish.

Even the sailfish's head was sticking out of the net instead of being inside.

However, its huge dorsal fin was tangled in the fishing net, otherwise it really would have escaped.

Once out of the water, the sailfish struggled even more fiercely, constantly twisting its body in an attempt to break free of the fishing net that bound it.

Feng Ye and A-Can watched with great concern, fearing that the hand-thrown net would not be able to withstand the force, and all their efforts would be in vain.

Fortunately, the hand-thrown net held up, and its quality was better than they had expected.

Despite the sailfish's incredible strength, it tore the gash even wider as it struggled.

But in the end, the sailfish didn't get away.

Looking at the sailfish still struggling on the deck, both men's eyes gleamed with excitement.

Feng Ye wiped the sweat from his forehead and let out a long sigh of relief.

"Ah-chan, go get a knife. We need to cut off the long jaw of this sailfish first, so we don't get hurt."

Ah-chan nodded, strode towards the cabin, and took out a sharp long knife.

Feng Ye took the long sword, stared at the still writhing sailfish, and took advantage of its slightly weakened struggle to aim at its long jaw and slash down hard.

The sharp blade instantly severed the sailfish's long jaws, depriving it of its most dangerous weapon.

Its struggles intensified, but without its long jaws, it became significantly less threatening.

Only then was it killed and bled to remove acid.

"Damn, no matter how tough you are! We still beat you to a pulp..."

Ah-chan kicked the sailfish while cursing.

"Alright, you can continue casting the net. There shouldn't be any danger now."

After Feng Ye finished speaking, he turned around and went back into the driver's seat.

Ah-chan also picked up a hand-thrown net and started tidying things up.

Without the marlin causing trouble, the herring school, which had scattered, was driven back together by the barracuda.

However, it's no longer in the original position; it's shifted a short distance.

Feng Ye could only determine the center of the fish school by the density of the seabirds.

He drove the Rising Sun after them, trying to trawle the nets at the edge of the area so as not to disturb the herring school.

Ah-chan stood on the side of the boat again, diligently casting net after net.

As time passed, more and more fish came to hunt the herring, no longer limited to the barracuda.

Among the creatures they saw above the surface were sharks and dolphins, and Ah-chan even caught a few mackerel.

There must be many more kinds of fish in places that are not visible underwater.

Fortunately, no more dangerous sailfish or equally dangerous swordfish were seen.

This put their minds at ease.

Swordfish and marlin are both too dangerous.

The fact that the previous one was caught was mostly due to luck.

If that sailfish had been any bigger, Ah-chan probably would have been dragged into the sea in the very first round.

However, the good times didn't last long, and another unexpected event occurred.

Suddenly, a violent wave surged on the sea, as if some enormous creature was churning underwater.

Ah Can and Feng Ye exchanged a glance, both feeling a sense of foreboding.

Before they could think any further, a huge mouth appeared, looming in the seawater, next to the giant cocoon formed by the herring.

With a sudden, powerful suck, a large chunk of the giant cocoon was sucked into its gaping maw.

The two people on the boat were stunned.

"Holy crap, what kind of fish is that? Its mouth is so big! Over a meter wide, it looks really creepy."

Ah-chan couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.

"It should be a shark, or a whale or something like that."

Feng Ye wasn't certain either, but this was the only guess he could make.

After all, only large creatures could have mouths that big.

“I can understand whales, they’re supposedly the largest fish in the sea, but what kind of shark has such a big mouth?”

"Let me correct you, whales are not fish, they are mammals."

Ah-Can scratched his head: "Really? Did I remember wrong?"

"You must be in the wrong. How could I be in the wrong? It's because you didn't study properly when you were in school."

Feng Ye shook his head and continued, "Most sharks don't have mouths this big, but some filter-feeding sharks, such as whales and basking sharks, have quite amazing mouths."

"I've heard of whale sharks and basking sharks, but I've never seen one."

Ah-chan nodded thoughtfully.

"You've only been at sea for a few days; there are many things you haven't seen yet."

"Tch, aren't you the same? You've only been at sea for a few days."

“But I won’t be like you, ignorant and incompetent, not even knowing that whales aren’t fish.”

"Brother Ye, you might be able to fool others, but you can't fool me. I've heard that back in your school days, you always got zero on tests and never passed."

At this point, Ah-Can couldn't help but say with a hint of pride, "Although my grades aren't good either, at least I've never gotten a zero."

Having his secret exposed, Feng Ye felt a pang of embarrassment. Just as he was about to say something in rebuttal, he saw the giant mouth beneath the sea move again.
