At 7:00 AM sharp, the market opened another gate, beginning its daytime business hours.
Customers flocked in to make purchases.
Some head straight for a particular stall or shop with a specific goal in mind, while others wander around without a clear destination...
The market began to bustle and become very lively.
Several customers with specific goals also arrived at the entrance of shop number 13.
These are all vendors who come to buy dried fish to sell, and they ask for dozens or even hundreds of kilograms at a time.
Feng Ye wasn't very familiar with these vendors; he only vaguely remembered some of them, and had never seen others before.
His father, on the other hand, was quite familiar with Feng Jialing. While busy weighing the goods for them, he also made sure to chat for a bit.
After all, these people come to restock every few days, and some don't even stock up, preferring to make the trip every day.
To Feng Ye's surprise, among this group of vendors was actually a remarkable person.
At first, the man didn't show any desire to buy the goods; he just looked around and asked questions.
Feng Ye was helping to move the dried fish out to weigh them, and didn't have time to explain in detail, just giving perfunctory answers.
When people ask about the price, he quotes the current wholesale price.
When people asked if they could get a discount for larger quantities, he stubbornly insisted that the price was the same no matter how many they wanted.
He thought this person was just an ordinary vendor, and no matter how much more he wanted, it would be at most three or four hundred pounds.
With such a small quantity, how could he possibly offer a lower price?
Unexpectedly, the other party replied directly, "Give me 5,000 jin!"
In an instant, the two pairs of fathers and sons who were working were stunned.
Even the vendors who came to buy goods were shocked by this extravagant spending.
"No, what did you just say? Say it again."
Feng Ye thought he had misheard and stared blankly at the short, stout middle-aged man in front of him, dressed in a crisp shirt and trousers and carrying a briefcase.
"I told him to give me 5,000 catties of dried fish. If it sells well, I'll come back later."
The middle-aged man repeated it.
"5,000 jin? Boss, are you kidding me?"
Feng Ye still couldn't believe it.
"Playing games with you? I don't have time for that."
The middle-aged man said with a serious expression, "I'm serious. 5,000 catties of dried fish, I think you should have that much in your shop, right?"
Feng Ye then realized that the other party was serious, and was immediately overjoyed.
Five thousand catties of dried fish, that's a huge order.
If the deal goes through, the shop's inventory will be depleted quickly, and there will be no need to worry about it anymore.
His father and son, Ah-Can, were also overjoyed, their hearts filled with an unbelievable excitement.
"5000 jin..."
Feng Ye took a deep breath, trying to remain calm. "There must be that much. The shop should still have more than 6,000 jin (3,000 kg) left. What kinds of dried fish does the boss need?"
"Only 6,000 jin? In that case, I won't bother choosing the variety, just weigh it all for me."
Upon hearing this, Feng Ye and the others were startled once again.
Before they could even utter a word, the vendors who had come to buy goods were already unhappy.
"Sir, if you want them all, what else do we need to buy?"
"Yes, boss, if you do that we won't have any products to sell."
"How about you wait a bit, boss, and we'll get our goods first, then you can buy the rest?"
"this……"
Feng Ye was also a little embarrassed. "Boss, what do you think of this...?"
He actually wanted to sell them all to middle-aged men, since they were big customers and he had to satisfy them first, plus it would save him trouble.
But without the support of these vendors, his dried fish business would not have been so successful.
"Alright, you guys weigh them first."
Middle-aged men don't go to extremes for themselves.
Upon hearing this, the vendors were overjoyed and urged them to weigh the goods quickly.
"Thank you for your understanding, boss." Feng Ye breathed a sigh of relief. "My name is Feng Ye. What is your surname, boss?"
"My surname is Zeng."
"Mr. Zeng has a good eye. These dried fish were all caught by our own fishing boats and dried by ourselves. They're completely organic..."
Feng Ye quickly shut up, almost accidentally blurting out another joke about later generations.
He paused for a moment before continuing, "Yes, they are all very beautiful and smell very good."
"Hmm, it does look pretty good, dry and not too salty."
The owner, surnamed Zeng, nodded. "To be honest, I've already tasted it and learned about it, which is why I dared to order so much at once."
"Oh, I see. Mr. Zeng is truly a man of great courage."
As Feng Ye spoke, he glanced around.
I just realized that even after all this time, there wasn't a single table or chair in the shop.
When guests come, there isn't even a place to sit, let alone drink tea.
He immediately said somewhat embarrassedly, "I'm sorry, Mr. Zeng, we don't even have a place to sit here, nor can we make you a cup of tea. We're really sorry for the inconvenience."
"It's alright, I understand. I've also heard about the situation at your store..."
Mr. Zeng waved his hand, "Just weigh the dried fish quickly, I'm a bit pressed for time."
"There are only a few people left. We'll be able to weigh Mr. Zeng soon."
After Feng Ye finished speaking, he immediately asked, "Where did Boss Zeng make his fortune?"
"What wealth? Just a small business."
Mr. Zeng answered casually, seemingly unwilling to talk more about his business.
"Mr. Zeng is being modest."
Since the other party was unwilling to say more, Feng Ye did not press further.
But you can probably guess what that means.
If someone wants so much dried fish all at once, they're definitely not doing retail; it must be wholesale.
