Hao Aiguo complained as he quickly hung up the line.
He is really preparing to change positions.
"Tch, Lao Qin, it's clearly your own bad luck that's causing this, and you're blaming it on your position."
"It's just a matter of location; I need to find a better spot."
"Mr. Qin, fishing requires patience. It's only been a few minutes. Lots of people fish and sit there all day without catching a fish."
Feng Ye couldn't help but say something as well.
"Patience? What good is patience? Look at you two, you only caught them because you were lucky, didn't you?"
Hao Aiguo retorted defiantly, putting away the remora and moving it to the other side.
Feng Ye shook his head helplessly, said nothing more, and focused on reeling in the wire.
When the car the remora hitched a ride on surfaced, he was surprised.
"Holy crap, what a huge fish!"
"What kind of fish is this? I've never seen it before."
Qin Aijun stuck the fishing rod on the stand and curiously leaned over, "There are a few whiskers, it looks a lot like a catfish."
"Because it's called a sea catfish. Mr. Qin, even though you're a big boss, there are plenty of fish you haven't seen before."
The Chinese sea catfish, also known as the Chinese sea catfish, is a carnivorous benthic fish belonging to the genus *Catella* in the family Catalidae.
The body is elongated, broad and flat at the front, and laterally flattened at the rear;
The head is large and flat, covered with granular protruding bony plates;
It has a large mouth, three pairs of barbels, is naked without scales, has smooth skin, and a deeply forked tail fin.
Its back is lead-gray, its belly is white, and all its fins are light yellow.
Their body color varies slightly depending on the sea area they live in.
This stuff doesn't taste very good; it's fishy and the meat quality is poor. It's usually processed into salted dried products.
However, sea catfish have detoxifying and diuretic effects, and are used in folk medicine to treat chronic skin ulcers, hydrocele, and other ailments.
In addition, there is an interesting story about sea catfish.
It is said that the people of the West Indies accidentally discovered that the skull of a dried sea catfish resembled the image of Jesus' crucifixion.
Therefore, the sea catfish was regarded as a "divine fish," and its skull was used as a talisman to ward off evil and disaster.
Moreover, brightly colored sea catfish skulls are sold in antique shops in the West Indies and Georgetown, and they are quite expensive.
Of course, Feng Ye doesn't believe in Jesus; he believes in Mazu. Just listen to these things and don't take them too seriously.
"That's true, in this respect we can't compare to you fishermen."
Qin Aijun exclaimed in surprise, "But this fish is really big. It looks like it's a meter long. It must weigh several dozen kilograms, right?"
"It weighs at most twenty-odd pounds. This fish looks quite long, but it's actually not very heavy."
This was precisely what surprised Feng Ye.
As far as he knows, the largest sea catfish can reach 900 mm in length and weigh 18 jin (9 catties); the average length is 600 mm and the weight is 4 jin (2 catties).
This one, however, has clearly broken through the growth restrictions.
But no one can say for sure what happens in the sea; maybe it has mutated.
Fortunately, the Japanese had not yet discharged nuclear wastewater at this time, otherwise he would not have dared to accept it.
As Feng Ye answered, with Xiao Chen's help, he scooped up the catfish that the remora was clinging to.
This remora probably couldn't find a large fish to attach itself to, which is why it lingered in the water for so long before finally reluctantly choosing this sea catfish.
Seeing Xiao Chen about to grab the sea catfish with his bare hands, Feng Ye quickly stopped him: "Don't move, this fish is poisonous, go get gloves."
The hard spines on the dorsal and pectoral fins of sea catfish have reverse hooks and are poisonous.
"Oh? It's poisonous!"
Xiao Chen was startled and quickly withdrew his hand.
"It's best not to catch unfamiliar fish with your bare hands, as many of them are poisonous."
"oh……"
The equipment on the Wind Chaser was quite complete. Soon after, Xiao Chen came out wearing a pair of stab-proof gloves, grabbed the sea catfish, and used a screwdriver to pry the tightly attached remora off.
Feng Ye quickly threw the remora back into the sea.
This is the biggest remora ever; we can't let it die so easily.
In the blink of an eye, it leaped into the water and disappeared, leaving only the reel spinning continuously to let out line.
"It's a pity we've come at the wrong time. The sea catfish doesn't have any roe yet, which is a delicacy comparable to caviar."
Feng Ye sighed as he watched Xiao Chen carry the catfish into the cabin.
You know caviar?
Qin Aijun was surprised.
Caviar is a high-end food, quite expensive, and only popular abroad.
In China today, although such places exist, they are all in high-end venues and are for the enjoyment of the wealthy.
The key point is that the fish roe used to make caviar is generally produced by freshwater fish, not saltwater fish.
How could a fisherman by the sea know about such a high-end product as caviar?
"What's so special about that? I also know that the best caviar is made from sturgeon roe."
Feng Ye said dismissively, "Actually, the so-called caviar is just hyped up by foreigners. I think it's not as good as mullet roe."
He's had caviar before, and he thought it tasted just so-so, nothing amazing.
"You're right. Caviar is fishy and salty, with a flavor that's hard to describe. But it's expensive, which is what happens when our country doesn't produce it."
Feng Ye chuckled to himself upon hearing this.
This stuff is ridiculously expensive now; it's a luxury food that only the wealthy can afford.
However, in another twenty years or so, caviar will fall from its pedestal, become commonplace, and its price will plummet to rock bottom.
"In a few months, when the sea catfish spawn, you can try buying some fish roe to taste."
