The next morning, Feng Ye and A-Can drove the Rising Sun into the city.
I had been here a few days ago, so this time I easily found my way to the dock.
Feng Ye knew the location of the Trade Plaza.
It is located in the northwest of the city, in the middle of an avenue called Zhongshan Avenue.
That place has remained unchanged for decades.
Even if a new one were built elsewhere in later generations, it couldn't drive these vendors and customers away; they remained loyal to this old place.
However, he really didn't know how to get there or which bus to take.
There's no need to take a taxi; they're not in a hurry, so there's no need to waste money.
"Ah Chan, how did you get to the Trade Plaza the other day? By bus?"
"no."
Ah-chan shook his head, "We walked there."
"You walked there?" Feng Ye asked, somewhat surprised. "How long would that take?"
Ah-Can thought for a moment and said, "It took about an hour. We walked and talked, and we didn't feel tired at all."
Feng Ye nodded. An hour or so wasn't too long, and along the way, they could see the city and learn about the changes in the city now compared to decades later.
"Let's walk there together then. Do you remember the way?"
"I'm not bad with directions, of course I remember."
Following the route Ah-chan remembered, the two walked through busy streets and bustling markets, heading towards the Trade Plaza.
Along the way, Feng Ye would stop from time to time to observe the appearance of the city, compare it with later generations, and feel the passage of time and the changes of the era.
After walking for more than an hour, the two finally arrived at the location of the Trade Square.
This area consists of low-rise buildings of two or three stories, with narrow streets crisscrossing the landscape, much like it was decades later.
The only difference might be that the signs on the storefronts were very simple, unlike the fancy ones that would come later.
At this moment, the trade square was bustling with activity and filled with noise.
The shouts of vendors and the haggling of customers mingled together, creating a noisy atmosphere.
A dazzling array of goods were on display, making it difficult for anyone to take their eyes off them.
From daily necessities to food, from handicrafts to home appliances...
If it's available in the market, you can find it here.
Feng Ye and A-Can weaved through the crowd, their eyes sharp, searching for potential business partners.
"Brother Ye, there's a dried fish shop over there, wanna go check it out?"
Ah-chan pointed to a bustling shop and said.
Feng Ye looked through the bustling crowd in the direction Ah Can was pointing.
The shop was filled with all kinds of seafood, from dried fish, shrimp, dried shrimp, mussels to kelp and seaweed.
The shop owner and two assistants were busy serving customers, weighing and packing items, their movements swift and skillful.
This shop seems to be doing quite well, with a constant stream of customers.
"Let's go take a look."
Feng Ye pulled A-Can along, squeezed through the crowd, and arrived at the shop.
"Boss, how much is this dried fish?"
Feng Ye pretended to be a customer and asked the shop owner.
He was referring to dried mackerel, a very cheap type of dried fish; he wholesaled it for only 80 cents a pound.
However, the taste is quite good and it is very popular.
"It depends on how much or how little you want?"
The shop owner glanced up and saw that they were two young people, but didn't pay much attention to them, assuming they were just casual customers buying some food to take home.
"How many kilograms is too many?"
"Over ten pounds is the wholesale price, 85 cents; under ten pounds is one dollar. How much do you want?"
"What about this kind?"
Feng Ye changed to a different variety and continued to ask.
"One dollar and fifty cents."
"Where's the filefish?"
...
"You keep asking me, are we going to buy it or not?"
Seeing that Feng Ye was only asking about prices but not paying, the shopkeeper became a little impatient.
"Boss, we're not actually here to buy dried fish. It's like this, we..."
Feng Ye quickly explained his purpose to the shop owner.
However, before he could finish speaking, the shop owner started to kick him out.
"Go away, stop messing around. I'm busy, I don't have time to listen to your nonsense."
The shop owner waved him away, his face full of displeasure.
"Boss, listen to me, our dried fish..."
Feng Ye tried to persuade the shop owner again, but the owner ignored him and started attending to other customers, treating them like air and completely disregarding their existence.
What a bad start!
Faced with this situation, Feng Ye had no choice but to leave with A-Can.
Although somewhat disappointed, it was within expectations, and they were not discouraged by it.
It's normal to be rejected; you can't expect to succeed on your first try.
If business were this easy, there would be no such thing as business failure.
However, Feng Ye also reflected on his behavior.
Perhaps part of the reason he was rejected was because his asking too many questions annoyed the shop owner.
But there's nothing we can do about it.
He was unfamiliar with the wholesale market conditions in the trade square and needed to understand them before he could quote prices to people.
Therefore, he had no choice but to resort to this desperate measure.
However, I understand it pretty well now.
In terms of wholesale price, it is generally a little higher than the price they sell to other parts of the county.
They visited several more stores, but the results were largely the same.
They were either directly rejected or brushed off by the shop owner who said they were too busy and didn't have time.
"Damn it, why is it so difficult? Did I come all this way for nothing?"
