When Feng Ye returned to the dock, the tide was still rising.
There were only a few small wooden boats moored at the dock, probably used for placing fish traps; they had finished collecting their catch and were returning.
As for mechanically powered fishing boats, there wasn't a single one.
Large fishing boats usually return at high tide, firstly because it's easier to dock, and secondly because they can catch an extra net and earn more money.
Naturally, there were hardly any people on the dock.
This was exactly what Feng Ye wanted; being constantly surrounded by a large group of people watching the spectacle was really quite annoying.
He's not a monkey in a zoo.
Feng Jiafa sat with his legs crossed on a recliner at the entrance of the purchasing point, a cigarette between his fingers, taking a puff now and then, but his eyes were fixed on the dock.
Seeing Feng Ye's small wooden boat dock, I was wondering why he had returned so early and whether he had no goods when I heard Feng Ye calling out, "Uncle Fa, push my cart over here."
Feng Jiafa was startled.
If we have to use handcarts to haul it all, won't there be a lot of goods?
"They're here, they're here."
He jumped up quickly, threw away the cigarette he hadn't finished smoking, shouted back, and pushed the cart next to him as he ran wildly toward the dock.
"Ah Ye, what good stuff did you get your hands on?"
Before the person even arrived, Feng Jiafa's voice came first.
See for yourself.
Feng Ye pointed to the cabin.
"My goodness, such a big red clover!"
When Feng Jiafa saw the large red chevron on the boat, his eyes widened in astonishment.
Zhang Hong isn't expensive, but its size is undeniable.
Any fish, as long as it's big enough, is enough to attract attention.
He understood why they had asked him to pull the cart over.
This big red clover is really troublesome to carry without a cart; it won't fit in a basket, and it's quite difficult to lift.
Looking at the other goods, they were all ordinary items, nothing special.
If I had to name one, it would be that big blue dress weighing over ten kilograms. It's not common to see dresses that big, but it's still eye-catching.
"Ah Ye, you've struck it rich again."
"Let's make a fortune together," Feng Ye said with a smile. "Give me a hand and lift it onto the cart."
Even without Feng Ye asking, Feng Jiafa would help.
Fortunately, the ropes hadn't been removed yet, making it easier for the two of them to lift.
One person held a rope and lifted Da Zhanghong off the boat, then put her on a cart.
"Tsk tsk, this is the first time I've ever seen such a big red croaker. The largest one I've ever seen before was only about a meter long."
Feng Jiafa circled around Da Zhanghong, looking at it again and again, even touching it while making clicking noises.
After loading the other fish into the car, Feng Ye said, "Stop touching them, hurry up and push them over to be weighed. After you buy them, you can sleep with them tonight."
"Get lost, you're the one who sleeps with a fish at night."
"This is money; sleeping with it is like sleeping with money in your arms."
"If it were a mermaid, that would be more like it; I could even sleep with it in my arms."
"What a wishful thinking, a mermaid, indeed."
The two chatted and laughed as they pushed the cart to the entrance of the purchasing point, then carried Da Zhanghong into the shop.
Feng Jiafa pulled a tape measure out of the drawer of the broken table and measured it: "One meter four and eight, almost one and a half meters, damn big!"
Then came the weighing, and Feng Jiafa exclaimed once again, "138 jin and 6 liang, that's damn heavy!"
What price are you prepared to offer?
Feng Ye stared intently at Feng Jiafa.
"Two pieces?"
Feng Jiafa tremblingly extended two fingers.
"Think it through, and don't make any rash bids."
Feng Ye's eyes widened.
"Two yuan two... two yuan four... two yuan five, just two yuan five, that's the highest I can go."
Under the pressure of Feng Ye's gaze, Feng Jiafa frequently changed his story.
"Uncle Fa, this is where you're wrong. I've always sold my goods to you, but you keep trying to lower the price for me."
Feng Ye put his arm around Feng Jiafa's shoulder, took a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, put one in his mouth and lit it, then lit one for himself as well: "Come on, let's have a smoke and think it over before we talk."
Feng Jiafa's mouth twitched.
These are my cigarettes!
“Nephew, it’s not that I’m trying to lower the price, this is Zhang Hong’s price, I also need to make a profit.”
Feng Ye shook his head: "Ordinary Zhang Hong might be this price, but mine is almost 1.5 meters long and weighs more than 130 kilograms, so it will cost extra."
"Two dollars and eighty cents, that's the highest price I can offer."
"Just three cents? Uncle Fa, you're too stingy."
Feng Jiafa's eyes widened: "Three mao is too little? The whole fish would cost forty or fifty yuan."
Feng Ye curled his lip: "Don't think I don't know. No matter what kind of fish it is, once it exceeds a certain size, the price will skyrocket."
"Wow, you've got some knowledge! You even know this much?"
"He's from the coast, so he should know a thing or two."
Feng Ye exhaled a cloud of smoke and continued, "Uncle Fa, if you really can't offer a higher price, I'll take this fish to Jinghong. I think President Qin Aijun will definitely give me a good price."
Feng Jiafa asked in surprise, "You know Qin Aijun?"
Feng Ye said smugly, "Of course I recognize them. Do you remember the goose barnacles from last time?"
Feng Jiafa thought for a moment: "You mean the Buddha's Hand snail that your father brought over to show me late at night, and then took back?"
“What Buddha’s Hand Snail? That’s called Goose Neck Barnacle.” Feng Ye nodded. “You don’t know its value, but President Qin does. He bought it for 50 yuan a pound.”
"So expensive?"
Feng Jiafa's mouth dropped open.
"Of course, otherwise how could it be called a good thing?" At this point, he suddenly remembered that Feng Jiafa also knew Qin Aijun, and his gossip fire immediately ignited, "Uncle Fa, how did you meet Qin Aijun?"
