Chapter 69 Sharks Fighting for Food

Tuna start to bite between 5 and 7 a.m., and now is the perfect time.

Feng Ye baited the hook and threw it into the sea. He then ran to the icehouse and took out some of the sardines he had caught the night before, throwing them into the sea one by one as if they were free.

To catch tuna, you have to be willing to spend a lot of money and keep throwing bait into the sea to attract them.

Otherwise, relying solely on the bait on the hook, the probability of catching a tuna is close to zero.

Of course, there also has to be tuna in this area; otherwise, the bait will be wasted.

Therefore, tuna fishing is extremely expensive, and often the catch does not cover the costs.

He wouldn't have dared to do this if he hadn't caught a large number of sardines last night.

Tuna is very famous, but the price is only so-so.

Even bluefin tuna, in later generations, would normally fetch around two hundred dollars (excluding those that could be auctioned), while yellowfin tuna would be even cheaper, only a few dozen dollars.

Not to mention in this day and age, the price will only be lower.

However, the tuna are huge, often weighing over 100 or 200 pounds, and you can make a lot of money from just one.

"Xiao Feng, what are you doing? Why are you constantly throwing sardines into the sea?"

Qin Aijun didn't understand the strategy for fishing for tuna, and he looked completely bewildered when he saw Feng Ye's actions.

When Feng Ye explained how to fish for tuna, everyone's eyes lit up.

Xiao Chen was very dedicated. Without waiting for instructions, he hurriedly ran back and forth several times to deliver the sardines to the group.

Sardines were thrown off the yacht and slowly sank into the sea.

"We've caught a fish."

With a loud shout from Yang Chenghe, breakfast began.

Feng Ye cast a surprised glance at him.

This guy is lucky.

Last night was his first catch, but it got away. Today he caught his first fish again.

"I wonder what kind of fish it will be?"

Feng Ye muttered to himself.

Qin Aijun watched from the side, occasionally offering a few pointers. More than half an hour later, a small yellowfin tuna weighing only fifty or sixty pounds floated belly up on the surface of the sea.

Before they could even pull it up, Qin Aijun had already caught a fish.

Without giving Yang Chenghe any further instructions, he hurriedly went to lift the fishing rod and set the hook.

Then, fish also took the bait on Song Jianguo's and Hao Aiguo's fishing rods.

Everyone was in a flurry of activity. If it weren't for Xiao Chen, Yang Chenghe would have been completely at a loss.

Just as Feng Ye was wondering why everyone else was catching fish while he wasn't, he saw his fishing rod dancing.

The key is not just one fishing rod, but that two fishing rods caught fish at the same time.

Everyone else was completely numb.

He quickly lifted the fishing rod with the smaller bend and used it to hook the fish, then ignored it and took the other fishing rod off and stuck it on his belly.

Judging from the force transmitted through the fishing rod, the fish wasn't very big, maybe only twenty-odd pounds at most.

Before long, Feng Ye pulled him down.

"Damn, I got all excited for nothing."

His face darkened the moment he recognized the fish.

It turned out to be a tarpon.

Sea bream has rotten meat and many bones, and is commonly known as "rotten meat shuttle" in the coastal areas of Guangdong Province, which shows how much fishermen dislike it. It is usually used to make salted fish.

This is the worst fish he's caught so far, even worse than a bullhead trevally.

But Feng Ye didn't intend to let it live; at worst, it could be used as bait.

After pulling the tarpon up, he threw it on the deck and hurriedly went to pull up another fishing rod.

The fish is still there; it didn't escape.

This fish was even smaller, weighing only about ten pounds. When we pulled it up, we found it was a red snapper.

"Not bad, not a waste of time."

Since it was still worth some money, Feng Ye accepted it.

After re-hooking the tarpon, he cut it into eight pieces and threw it back into the sea.

That's about all it does.

While no fish were biting, Feng Ye looked back at the other four.

Qin Aijun and Hao Aiguo were still playing with the fish, while Song Jianguo had already pulled it up. It was also a red snapper, but it was a bit bigger, and he estimated it to weigh about 20 pounds.

Just as I turned my gaze away, I noticed another fishing rod dancing.

"Yo ho, finally we've caught a big fish."

When you lift the rod to hook the fish, you'll find that the pulling force is very strong.

After a long and arduous struggle, Feng Ye emerged victorious.

"Yellowfin is not bad either."

This yellowfin tuna weighs only about 100 pounds, which is considered relatively small.

Just as Feng Ye was about to ask Xiao Chen for help, a large fish head jumped out from underwater and bit off most of the yellowfin tuna's body in one bite.

"Holy crap, a shark..." Feng Ye was shocked at first, then extremely frustrated, "Damn it, my tuna..."

After painstakingly luring a yellowfin tuna to its death, a shark snatched the bait.

"Xiao Feng, what happened?"

Feng Ye's exclamation attracted the attention of others.

He pulled the fish head, which still had some body attached, up to the surface and said dejectedly, "The shark ate it all, leaving only the head."

"Xiao Feng, your luck is incredible, haha..."

Recalling Feng Ye's ordeal last night, Qin Aijun laughed so hard he almost fell over.

"There's still a little bit of meat left on this head, just enough for breakfast."

Song Jianguo also suppressed a laugh.

Feng Ye sighed, "There are sharks down there, so we can't fish here. Let's go somewhere else. We're having breakfast anyway."

It would have been better if Feng Ye hadn't mentioned it, because his words made the group quite hungry.

After glancing at the tuna heads, I knew it was impossible to catch them, so I reeled them all in.

Xiao Chen took the fish head to the kitchen, and then went to wake up Yao He, who had just fallen asleep after his night watch, to set sail.
