They do look very similar, but a closer look will quickly make them distinguishable.
First, look at the location of the gills. The sawshark's gills are on the sides of its head, while the sawray's gills are on its ventral side.
Secondly, look at their "saws". Saw sharks have a pair of barbels on their "saws", while saw rays do not have barbels on their "saws".

Alternatively, they can be distinguished by size.
Sawsharks are generally small, with a body length of about 1.5 meters.
Sawfish are among the largest fish in the ocean, with the largest species reaching 9 meters in length and weighing over 1,000 kilograms.
Even the relatively small common sawfish is nearly 3 meters long, much larger than the sawshark.
Given its size, this sawfish is undoubtedly a large species. Its back is olive-colored in the seawater, and its dorsal fin is yellowish-gray.
As the sawfish darted out of the net, a large number of fish and shrimp of all sizes also fell out through the holes.
Most of them were dead fish and shrimp, and many were even incomplete or broken pieces.
However, some survived and managed to escape.
The fallen fish and shrimp acted as bait, exciting the surrounding sharks, who rushed forward to snatch them.
Another shark targeted the sawfish, opened its massive jaws, and charged at it.
Judging from its shape and size, this shark should be a great white shark.
The sawfish may have become aggressive because it was trapped in the net.
It was equally unyielding, swinging its enormous "saw" and hacking at the shark.
In an instant, the "saw" sliced through the shark's body, leaving a deep wound, and blood gushed into the sea, where it was quickly diluted by the seawater.
The blood further enraged the sharks, making them even more frenzied. They turned and attacked the wounded great white shark, not sparing the sawfish as well.
In an instant, the sharks crowded and bit each other on the sea surface, and the seawater was churned up as if it were boiling.
The sawfish was also rampaging through the area, constantly wielding its large saw-like appendages to hack and slash at the sharks...
