Chapter 95 The Giant Catfish That Jumps High

The Rising Sun didn't sail too far. Only after confirming that Lan Xinping could steer the fishing boat back did Feng Xuan turn the rudder and head towards the waters for longline fishing.

Because they had been wandering aimlessly in the sea with the Lan Xinping brothers, they had strayed far from their course. It was more than an hour before they finally found their longline fishing buoy.

The longline fish was left in the sea all night, and it's so late to retrieve it; I wonder how many of the fish are still fresh.

"I hope we don't hook a sea snake again today?"

Feng Ye hesitated, wondering if he should just ask his older brother to act as a go-between.

The thought of the sea snake I caught on my longline fishing hook yesterday sends chills down my spine.

Feng Xuan offered, "If you're worried, I'll take care of it."

Feng Ye thought for a moment, then shook his head: "I'll do it. If there really are sea snakes, then you can pull them out, brother."

He prefers to be in the front pulling the fish rather than sitting in the back unhooking and reeling in the hook.

That sense of anticipation filled with the unknown is even more exciting.

I hooked the buoy up, tried pulling it, and it didn't take much effort to pull the small anchor up. Then I started reeling in the line.

The fish was hooked on the very first line, and Feng Ye quickly pulled it up.

It was a sea bass, not very big, only about two pounds, but unfortunately it was already dead.

I opened the gill cover and saw that it was still fresh, so it must have only recently died.

Seeing that they had found something on the very first post, all three of them were invigorated, and Feng Ye sped up his reeling in the line.

The next few lines also caught fish, all of them sea bass, the larger ones weighing four or five pounds and the smaller ones only a little over a pound.

Sea bass isn't expensive, but there's a lot of it, so even small profits add up.

Feng Ye and the other two didn't mind and untied the fish one by one, throwing them into the basket.

After about half an hour, Feng Ye suddenly felt a great weight in his hand, very heavy.

He was overjoyed and excitedly exclaimed, "The big guys are here?"

"Dead or alive?"

Upon hearing this, Feng Xuan and A-Can were overjoyed, their eyes shining as they stared at the sea.

For the first half hour, there wasn't much good stuff, and the items weren't very big either.

The largest sea bass weighed only about eight pounds, and more importantly, it was dead and no longer fresh, which made the three of them quite disgusted.

"I could feel it struggling; it's alive."

No sooner had the words left his mouth than a large white fish, nearly a meter long, leaped out of the sea.

If it hadn't been hooked by the longline, it could have jumped even higher.

He knew that tarpon could easily leap two or three meters out of the water.

"What a huge tarpon!" Feng Xuan exclaimed in surprise.

"Still so energetic, it must have just hooked up not long ago, right?"

Ah-chan looked delighted.

Big fish are eye-catching, regardless of whether they are expensive or cheap.

Silver carp are cheap, but their size is eye-catching enough.

This fish can be caught not only in the sea, but also in some freshwater estuaries.

Sea bream have a migratory habit, among which the most famous is the "fishhook leap"—swimming and jumping between freshwater and seawater.

"It must have been a short time, otherwise how could he jump so high?"

Feng Ye grinned, finally having caught a big fish.

The giant tarpon struggled, splashing water everywhere, but was still slowly pulled to the side of the boat.

Before Feng Ye could remind him, A-Can stretched the net into the water and scooped the whole fish into it in one go.

"Brother Xuan, give me a hand, this fish is so heavy."

Ah-chan pulled, feeling very strained, and with the tilapia still struggling in the net, it was even more difficult.

Feng Xuan stepped forward, and together the two of them pulled the giant tilapia onto the boat.

As soon as I emptied it from the landing net and removed the hook, it started hopping and jumping on the boat, seemingly about to leap back into the sea.

Holy crap!

Ah-Can yelled, threw down the net, pounced on the fish, and pinned it down.

"Brother Xuan, quickly get a knife and kill this fish!"

The big bream is very strong; Ah-Can couldn't hold it down by himself. He could only prevent it from jumping.

Feng Xuan quickly went to the driver's seat, took out the knife, walked to A-Can's side, and stabbed the bighead carp in the eye.

The giant tarpon's strength suddenly diminished considerably. Although it was still struggling, it was already at its last gasp.

Seeing this, Ah-Can got up, panting heavily, and looked at the giant tilapia that was still struggling to survive with lingering fear.

That giant tarpon was incredibly strong; I almost couldn't hold it down. If it had actually jumped off the boat back into the sea, I would have regretted it so much I would have banged my head against the wall.

Watching the two of them frantically trying to do something, Feng Ye shook his head speechlessly.

Once the big fish is on board, the first priority is to kill it before proceeding to the next step.

Ah-chan is still a newbie, so it's understandable that he doesn't know.

But my brother has a lot of experience at sea, thanks to his father-in-law's family. How could he make such a basic mistake?

After reminding the two, Feng Ye continued reeling in the line, and fish were pulled onto the boat every now and then.

Some of the fish were no longer fresh and had to be thrown back into the sea, but most of them were still in pretty good condition.

Compared to yesterday, the time spent reeling in the longline today was much shorter.

Perhaps because many of the fish were already dead, there was no need to worry about them getting off the hook, making it much faster to pull them up.

After pulling in the last hook, Feng Ye stood up, stretched, and looked at the sun's position: "It's almost noon. Let's eat first, then we'll haul in the net and head back."

"Um."

The three carried their catch into the cabin, then each took out their lunchboxes and began to eat the now-cold food with gusto.
