After a hurried journey, the Rising Sun finally arrived near the shore of the island.
At that moment, the other ship had just arrived and was lowering lifeboats into the sea.
It was a cargo ship, over 50 meters long, making the Rising Sun look like a little brother in comparison.
Feng Ye had seen it while fishing, and more than once. He could see it every few days, and it seemed to have a fixed route.
The cargo ship was too big and the draft was too deep, so we couldn't get too close. We could only stop in the deep water and launch lifeboats to pick up people from the island.
On the shore of the island, nine people stood waving and waiting for rescue.
"Thank goodness, we made it in time."
Fang Yi patted his chest and breathed a sigh of relief.
They arrived just in time; if they had been a few minutes later, the lifeboat would have picked them up.
"Yes, if we had been a step slower, we don't know what the consequences would have been."
Feng Ye also felt fortunate.
They then began shouting at the cargo ship, demanding that it stop and keep its distance.
Although they shouted with great effort, their voices sounded weak in the sea breeze.
Fortunately, it still caught the attention of the people on the cargo ship.
Although they couldn't hear it very clearly, they stopped what they were doing and looked curiously in the direction from which the sound came.
Seeing this, Feng Ye hurriedly told A-Can to steer the boat toward the cargo ship.
Once they got close, he and Fang Yi jumped onto the cargo ship's deck and quickly explained the situation.
Fang Yi, dressed in uniform, was quite convincing and did not face any doubts.
The people on the cargo ship were especially startled when they heard that the people on the island were from Longtail Island.
Generally speaking, there are many people on cargo ships, and the identities of the cargo owners and ship owners are unclear, so the people of Changwei Island basically dare not touch them.
Therefore, the cargo ship had always sailed smoothly and had never encountered anyone boarding and robbing it.
However, people have also heard about the evil deeds of the people of Longtail Island.
When they learned that Fang Yi had brought people to arrest those people, everyone felt a surge of exhilaration.
The captain generously offered to lend them his lifeboats.
The tide is still receding, making it difficult for even the smallest ship, the Asahi, to dock.
After all, they were unfamiliar with the water depth and were afraid of running aground on reefs and being stranded when the tide went out.
With lifeboats, things become much more convenient; they can be driven directly to the shore.
Fang Yi thanked the captain, and once the other ship arrived, he quickly organized his men, armed with weapons, to board lifeboats in batches and land on the island to carry out the arrest.
When the people on the island saw the police appear, they sensed that something was wrong and naturally did not stay on the shore to wait to be arrested. They scattered and fled, trying to use the island's complex terrain to evade capture.
But all of this was in vain. The island was only so big, and it was surrounded by water on all sides. Where else could they hide?
It simply delayed things a little and made the arrest operation more difficult.
Feng Ye and A Can also wanted to go to the island to participate in the arrest, but Fang Yi refused them without hesitation.
He said that arresting criminals is the job of the police, which involves a certain degree of danger, and it is not something that ordinary citizens should get involved in.
Although the two were somewhat unwilling, they knew that he was telling the truth.
They are not professional law enforcement officers, and their rash involvement may backfire or even cause unnecessary trouble.
So they stayed and chatted with people on the cargo ship.
We are all people who make a living on the sea, so we have common topics and are inseparable from the ocean and ships.
Feng Ye and A-Can shared their interesting fishing stories, while the people on the cargo ship recounted some strange and wonderful things they encountered at sea.
Time passed slowly in relaxed and pleasant conversation, and people were gradually brought back.
The first two people to be captured were escorted by four armed men and returned to their original ship in a lifeboat.
"These are the people of Longtail Island. They all look like weasels with shifty eyes. They don't look like good people at all."
"Yes, they're all desperate criminals. They should have all been arrested and executed long ago."
"It's not too late now. At least they've been caught, and it will be much safer at sea in the future."
"They looked quite disheveled; they must have suffered a lot on the island."
"Of course! When dealing with these villains, who would show mercy? I'd love to kick them a couple of times."
"That's right, that's right..."
The people on the cargo ship were talking amongst themselves, their voices filled with disgust and indignation.
Listening to their discussion, Feng Ye smiled and turned to ask, "Ah Can, aren't your hands itching?"
Ah-Can looked at his hands and said, puzzled, "It doesn't itch!"
He didn't understand what Feng Ye meant.
"I mean, do you want to hit someone?"
Feng Ye pointed to the two Longtail Islanders who were forced to kneel on the deck.
"Oh, you mean this?"
Ah-Can suddenly realized, "Then it's not just my hands that are itchy, my feet are itchy too."
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go stretch our legs."
"Let's go, let's stretch their muscles."
The two jumped off the cargo ship and landed on the ship they had stolen.
They cracked their knuckles, a cold smile on their faces, and slowly walked toward the two long-tailed islanders.
There were three people guarding the two men on the deck: one police officer and two auxiliary police officers.
Seeing Feng Ye and the others' actions, they understood what they were planning to do, but the three of them did not stop them.
Only the police officer cautioned, "Don't go too far, or it will be difficult to explain and cause more trouble."
Feng Ye smiled and said, "Don't worry, we know what we're doing."
"It's best to target the limbs; they're fleshy and won't break them."
