Feng Ye was taking advantage of the situation.
When he reached under a rock, his hand touched something slippery and long.
Feng Ye instinctively pulled his hand back; experience told him that it was either a sea snake or a moray eel.
Both sea snakes and eels are highly aggressive. Sea snakes are venomous, and although eels are not venomous, a bite from one can tear off a large chunk of flesh.
So in murky water, where it's unclear which way is which, it's best to be careful to avoid getting bitten.
Feng Ye carefully put his hand into the water again and touched it immediately.
This time, being mentally prepared, I didn't pull my hand back.
However, the creature, whose nature was currently unknown—whether it was a sea snake or a moray eel—was startled and darted out from under the rocks, darting about in the water and splashing around.
"Thank goodness, it's a moray eel, not a sea snake."
Feng Ye calmed down considerably.
"Holy crap, where did that eel come from? It scared the crap out of me."
Xiao Guowen had just caught a fish and was about to grab it when he caught a glimpse of a long, dark shadow swimming over.
“I was driven out from under the rocks.”
Feng Ye seized the opportunity and swiftly grabbed, but unfortunately missed his head and had to throw him away with all his might.
"Holy crap, it's a red eel."
Xiao Guowen exclaimed in surprise.
Feng Ye threw the eel into a dry pile of pebbles, revealing its true form.
"Red eel? Where is it?"
The group's attention was immediately drawn to this, and they looked around.
"here."
Feng Ye walked out of the water, grabbed the red eel from the pile of pebbles, pinched its head with one hand and grabbed its tail with the other, and showed it to everyone.
"It's so big, it must weigh three or four pounds."
"Tsk tsk, such a big red eel, there's quite a lot of stuff in this puddle."
Red eels are not uncommon or expensive by the sea, and everyone just glanced at them and continued to fish in troubled waters.
"Look what I caught!"
Suddenly, Ah-chan triumphantly grabbed a fish and held it high in the air.
This is an oval-shaped, purplish-black fish. It's not very big, probably less than a pound and nine ounces.
"Holy crap, Black Hair!"
They all gasped in surprise.
Black hairy fish, scientifically known as *Hemiberlesia lataniae*, also called melon seed bream, is commonly known as black hairy fish or vegetable hairy fish. It has an oval-shaped body, a purplish-black color, many small black spots on the scales on its sides, and many dark spots scattered at the base of each fin. Apart from these, there are no other obvious markings on its body.
This is also a valuable fish, which could sell for several hundred yuan per kilogram in later generations.
Ah-chan happily put the fish into the bucket.
"Three knives and black hair, how come this puddle is hiding so many good things?"
The crowd became even more excited.
Before long, everyone had caught some fish.
There were black sea bream, sea bass, and three more black hairy fish were caught, each weighing only about six or seven ounces. Stone Nine caught a lot, no less than ten.
"Ah Ye, come quick! There's a fish hiding in this crevice. Help me move this rock."
Feng Xuan had just caught a fish, but unfortunately he couldn't hold on to it and it got away, hiding in the gap between two stones that were placed together.
What kind of fish?
Feng Ye walked over, asking questions as he bent down.
"I touched it, but I don't know yet."
The stone is quite large.
It took the two of them, and they used every ounce of their strength, to lift the smaller stone.
A dorsal fin covered with brown spots flashed across the water's surface, sending ripples spreading outwards.
"Tiger-spotted?"
"Did you see it clearly?"
"I couldn't see it clearly, but the dorsal fin looks very similar."
The two exchanged a glance and quickly gave chase.
The fish was very agile, wandering around the bottom of the pit and attracting Ah Can and the other two. Finally, they forced it to a shallow spot where half of its back was exposed, and its body was still wriggling.
"It really is a tiger grouper!"
They all gasped in surprise.
Tiger stripes are named for their yellowish-brown coat covered with brown spots, resembling tiger skin.
Xiao Guowen was the closest and was the first to pounce on it, grabbing the tiger-spotted cat's head and pressing it into the mud until its struggles lessened, at which point he pulled it out of the water.
Tiger grouper are not easy to catch. The sharp spines on their dorsal fins are not for decoration, but for protection. They can prick you.
In fact, many sea fish are difficult to catch. Some have sharp spines, some are poisonous, and some have both.
Therefore, when catching sea fish, especially those you don't recognize, it's best to be careful.
"This tiger stripe must weigh more than 2 pounds."
Xiao Guowen weighed it in his hand, then put the tiger-spotted tiger into the bucket with a smile.
"Hurry up and search again, the tide is coming in."
Feng Ye glanced at the tide not far away and offered a reminder.
Instead of going to the bottom of the puddle, he went to the pile of rubble to turn over stones.
After searching for a while, I found a blue crab weighing about seven or eight ounces and a few oyster shells. The tide was only three or four meters away from the puddle.
Given the distance and the horizontal orientation, the tide will rise in just two or three minutes.
"Let's go, the tide is coming in."
Feng Ye called out and went up first.
"So fast?"
Xiao Guowen shook his head, still feeling unsatisfied.
"Fast? Don't you even know what time it is?"
"Oh, is it so late?"
Xiao Guowen glanced at the sun that was about to disappear and belatedly said.
After going up, everyone counted and found that the puddle was not big, but it contained quite a lot of goods.
One three-knife fish, one tiger grouper, one red eel, four black sea bream, three black sea bass, two sea bass, and more than a dozen rock eels...
