Unsurprisingly, Song Guomin was ruthlessly driven away; he didn't even get to see the elderly couple.
Song Guomin was leading his two children home when he ran into Zhuo Huai again. Zhuo Huai had replaced the bicycle chain and gave Song Guomin a cold snort.
"funny!"
Song Guomin sighed, "I..."
Zhuo Huai immediately reached out to stop him, "Stop, don't say anymore. If rumors start spreading again, I won't be able to tolerate it."
Zhuo Huai pushed the cart home.
Helpless, Song Guomin took his two children home. As soon as they arrived, Song Guomin suddenly coughed.
Song Guomin has been coughing for quite some time now, and if he keeps coughing like this, the people in the office won't be able to stand him.
Left with no other option, Song Guomin took his two children to a nearby clinic for IV infusions.
Before we knew it, it was time for school to start again.
Mr. and Mrs. Qin chose a day when both Song Yingying and Xu Guiying were present to pay their respects.
Grandpa Qin had told Grandma Qin before he came.
You are not allowed to talk nonsense in a moment.
Grandma Qin nodded quickly in agreement, but when she saw the environment of Heping Lane and the gate of the Song family, her eyebrows furrowed deeply.
Qin Zheng coughed out from the side.
Grandpa Qin glared at his wife.
Grandma Qin said impatiently, "I know, I know."
Today is a formal visit to the Song family. They brought the clothes they bought for Song Yingying earlier, and also added many new items to the Qin family's room. They also prepared gifts for Song Rongrong and Song Jianmin.
Qin Baohua knocked on the door of the Song family.
When Song Jianmin saw that it was the Qin family, his eyes widened, and he shouted, "Mom and Dad!"
When Xu Guiying came out and saw who it was, she was also stunned.
"Please come in, please come in."
Old Master Qin smiled kindly, "I should have informed you in advance of our arrival."
"Where have you come from? Please have a seat." Xu Guiying called to Lao Wu to make tea.
Xu Guiying straightened her clothes and then called Song Xinfu out.
Song Yingying also came out of the house; she hadn't expected her grandparents to come today.
Song Yingying became much more familiar with them as she spoke. "Grandpa and Grandma, why didn't you tell me beforehand?"
Qin Zheng: "I just happened to be free today, so I was thinking of trying my luck and seeing if you guys were home."
Song Xinfu was also surprised. After regaining his senses, he quickly wiped the chairs and offered them to sit down. Old Master Qin stopped him, saying, "Xinfu, what are you doing? The chairs are perfectly fine and you can sit on them."
Grandma Qin showed no sign of disgust this time. She held Xu Guiying's hand and reminisced, "You must be Guiying. Yingying always tells me that her aunt treats her like her own daughter. You've all worked so hard over the years."
Xu Guiying quickly said, "You're exaggerating. She's my daughter, so it's no wonder she's working so hard."
Xu Guiying quickly told her fifth son to go out and buy vegetables and meat so they could have a good meal that evening.
The Song family was large and their home was lively and bustling, full of local flavor. Grandpa Qin thought Heping Lane was really nice, and the whole family ate hot pot together that evening.
Grandma Qin didn't like the food, but she endured it and ate only vegetables and beef.
It got dark quickly, and a group of people gathered around the stove. Xu Guiying spoke frankly and without hesitation. Grandma Qin had nowhere to vent her scheming thoughts, and she carefully observed the way Song Yingying and the Song family interacted.
Song Rongrong and Song Jianmin would bicker every now and then, and Song Jianmin would get scolded by Song Xinfu and Xu Guiying. They kept talking throughout the meal.
It was incredibly lively.
Grandma Qin felt a mix of emotions. The Song family was so lively; no wonder Yingying didn't want to go home to live.
The Qin family elders went to see Song Yingying's room again.
Song Yingying didn't want her grandparents to say anything unpleasant, so she said in advance, "I'm staying here very well. My fourth sister sleeps with me at night, so I have company."
Grandpa Qin patted his granddaughter's head. "Grandpa didn't say anything."
The Song family members stood in the courtyard.
Qin Zheng couldn't help but glance at Song Rongrong, his expression extremely casual. He asked, "I heard from Yingying that you found a job at a newspaper?"
Song Rongrong glanced at Qin Zheng, who was a head taller than her, and nodded, "Go to work early to ease the burden on the family."
After her second brother got into trouble, Song Rongrong no longer wanted to go abroad; she thought it would be better to just start working after graduation.
Qin Zheng pursed his lips and didn't ask any more questions.
Around eight o'clock, Grandpa Qin and Grandma Qin decided to leave.
The Song family saw them off at the edge of the alley and watched them get into the car before going home.
Song Jianmin touched his nose. "Yingying, your grandparents are quite easy to get along with."
Song Yingying nodded. Apart from her aunt, no one in the family knew what her grandmother had said about her mother.
The Qin family came to visit the Song family, and all the neighbors in the alley knew about it. Song Guomin heard the Qin family go in and then hear them leave.
Liu Aimei said sarcastically, "It's been so long, they just don't want you as their son anymore."
It's been months already. If he really cared about Song Guomin and his two grandsons, he wouldn't have needed to act all high and mighty for so long!
Liu Aimei raised her thin eyebrows and said, "Not only do your parents not want you, but Zhuo Huai also looks down on you."
Zhuo Huai now avoids Song Guomin's house altogether, even bypassing the Song family's gate, and the whole Heping Lane knows about his attempts to avoid suspicion.
Song Guomin stared at Liu Aimei, "I've said it many times, I have nothing to do with Zhuo Huai! Liu Aimei, don't spread rumors!"
Liu Aimei was deliberately picking a fight, saying, "Oh dear, are you getting angry? Song Guomin, let me tell you, no one but me would even look at you! And no one would be willing to have your child!"
Song Guomin pointed at Liu Aimei, so angry he could hardly breathe. He kept babbling on and on, then suddenly everything went black and he collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
