Song Yangmin earns 62 yuan a month. He gives 30 yuan back to his mother, 20 yuan to Qian Yu'an, and saves the remaining 12 yuan.
Qian Yu'an felt some pressure about owing her mother 1,000 yuan. She had to pay back 30 yuan every month, which would amount to 360 yuan a year, and it would take her more than two or three years to pay it off.
Aside from the initial morning sickness, Qian Yu'an has had no other symptoms, and her cheeks have become rounder.
"Just focus on your studies. If you feel unwell later, we'll ask you to stay home. At worst, we can take a year off from school."
Qian Yu'an: "It should be fine."
She seems to be in good health, and the child looks robust too.
A few days after Song Yangmin bought the house, Grandpa Song returned to his hometown, while Grandma Song stayed with the Song family, spending most of her time taking care of Qian Yu'an and occasionally visiting Song Anmin.
Before they knew it, it was early December. Song Jianmin, Chen Zhou, and Qian Yu'an were facing their final exams and had heavy study loads. Chen Zhou spent less time working in the Phoenix Pavilion and more time reading in the school library.
Song Jianmin receives a monthly salary, so he goes to work at the factory on weekends. His salary is higher than Chen Zhou's. Occasionally, when he runs into Chen Zhou in the canteen, there are hardly any pieces of meat in her bowl.
On December 13th, Song Jianmin and Qian Yu'an arranged to have lunch together at the cafeteria. They arrived early, and there weren't many people in the cafeteria, so Chen Zhou sat at a long table by himself to eat.
"Zhouzhou."
Chen Zhou looked up, his face full of surprise, and greeted Qian Yu'an and Song Jianmin.
The two of them got their food and came over quickly. As usual, Song Jianmin got an extra meat dish and pushed the bowl in front of Chen Zhou.
"I've had too much, you should help me eat some."
Qian Yu'an's eyes darted around slightly. "Fifth brother, have you gained weight recently?"
Song Jianmin: "Second sister-in-law, don't even mention it. I have a roll of fat around my stomach. I need to lose weight. Chen Zhou, please, please help me eat more."
Chen Zhou was tired of hearing the same excuse every time. She muttered, "Then why don't you give less money?"
Song Jianmin chuckled, "Just want to try it, I really want to eat it."
Qian Yu'an smiled and said, "I'll try some too."
Chen Zhou was touched. She received a scholarship every year and worked at Phoenix Pavilion, saving some money, but she never dared to spend it recklessly.
After the three finished their meal, they went to the library together. After class in the afternoon, they returned to Heping Lane together.
Today is Friday, and Song Yangmin will be back tomorrow. The couple decided to go to the repair shop tomorrow evening, as they haven't seen their older brother for a while.
The next day, Song Yangmin returned home at noon. Only Grandma Song was at home. Xu Guiying and Song Xinfu went to see the new store.
After lunch, Song Yangmin and Qian Yu'an took a two-hour nap. Around 5 p.m., they went to the car repair shop.
The repair shop isn't very big; it mainly repairs cars and motorcycles, and occasionally it also helps repair trucks.
After asking the security guard to call for help, the couple waited outside the gate.
Qian Shurong came out of there very quickly.
“Yu An, Yang Min”.
"Big brother, let's go eat."
Qian Shurong usually eats alone in the factory canteen, and occasionally goes out with his coworkers. Several other coworkers follow him out; they are all familiar faces.
Qian Shurong looked his younger sister up and down: "Cheng, Yu'an, have you gained weight recently?"
Qian Shurong was unaware that Qian Yu'an was pregnant, and with her thick clothes on, it was even less noticeable.
Qian Yu'an rubbed his belly and laughed, "Big brother, I'll tell you later."
Qian Shurong's eyes widened immediately. Just as he was about to speak, a voice came from the side, "Qian Shurong, is this your relative?"
The speaker was Lü Peng, a coworker of Qian Shurong. The two shared the same mentor and lived in the same dormitory, and their relationship was usually quite good.
There were several other people standing next to Lü Peng; they had gone out to eat together, and now they were all looking over.
Qian Shurong explained, "This is my sister and my brother-in-law."
Clothes make the man, and a saddle makes the horse.
The Song couple, Song Yangmin and his wife, were handsome and beautiful, and dressed respectably. It was unexpected that Qian Shurong, a farmer from the countryside, had relatives in the city. His wife had married into a good family.
Song Yangmin remained expressionless as he looked at the group of people, but they all looked away.
Lu Peng patted Qian Shurong on the shoulder, "I'm going to eat now, you guys come too."
Qian Shurong nodded.
On the way to the restaurant, Qian Yu'an couldn't help but ask, "Big brother, are you on good terms with that person from earlier?"
“His name is Lü Peng. We get along well; we're roommates, taught by the same master. He seems like a reliable person.” Qian Shurong, recalling what had just happened, hurriedly asked, “Yu’an, are you pregnant?”
Qian Yu'an and Song Yangmin exchanged a glance. She smiled and said, "Yes, it was found out at the end of October. I forgot to mention it last time I came. It's been three months now."
Qian Shurong laughed and said, "I'm going home tomorrow night. My parents will definitely come to see you when they find out."
Qian Shurong is off this Monday. He will go back tomorrow night and come back Monday evening.
After arriving at the restaurant, they ordered a few dishes. Qian Shurong stopped drinking alcohol after starting work at the factory. Before, when he helped people cut and carry trees in Biandan Village, he would have a couple of drinks with every meal.
After finishing their meal, the three of them walked back. When they arrived at the entrance of the repair shop, Qian Shurong said to the other two, "Take care on your way back, the road is slippery."
Song Yangmin: "Big brother, don't worry, I'm here."
Qian Shurong nodded and waited until the two had walked away before turning back.
The security guard greeted him, "Qian Shurong, is that your relative?"
"My sister and brother-in-law," Qian Shurong said cheerfully. He was efficient and unassuming in his work, and his coworkers in the factory all had a good impression of him.
"She's really good-looking."
Qian Shurong smiled but didn't say anything.
The repair shop's dormitory was a two-story building with six rooms on each floor, and two people lived in each room.
