The hot pot restaurant is right across from the Hunan cuisine restaurant.
We ordered too much food tonight, and after a heated discussion about who would eat eight, who would eat two, who would eat seven, who would eat three, who would eat six, who would eat four, the two of us finished all the food.
I was too tired to walk after eating, so I sat down and rested for a while.
Outside, you can see the Hunan restaurant across the street through the glass window.
Chen Zhou nudged Song Jianmin's arm. "That guy is so fierce."
Song Jianmin was in a daze when he looked in the direction of the sound.
In the restaurant across the street, a middle-aged man in a suit was scolding a waitress. The sound was too far to hear, but the man was pointing and spitting as he spoke. The waitress, a young girl, was stunned and speechless as she was being scolded.
Song Jianmin didn't care. "Not necessarily. Maybe the little girl did something wrong."
Chen Zhou sensed something was wrong and continued to stare at the other side.
The little girl cried for a while, then went back to work.
The Hunan restaurant wasn't doing very well; there were only two tables occupied.
Song Jianmin and Chen Zhou sat for another ten minutes or so before leaving.
Song Jianmin: "Let's go buy some fruit."
Chen Zhou didn't want to move and told him to go by himself. Song Jianmin grinned mischievously and pulled Chen Zhou across the street. The fruit stand was right next to the Hunan restaurant.
Song Jianmin was a good family man and had a knack for choosing fruit. While Song Jianmin was selecting apples, Chen Zhou noticed the little girl who came out to throw away the trash. She was the waitress who had just been scolded and cried.
He looks like he's not even twenty.
Chen Zhou thought back to when she first started working, she was often scolded to tears by her boss. After coming to Phoenix Pavilion, Xu Songyuan was strict in his management, but he was fair and never made personal attacks.
Chen Zhou handed her a piece of paper. "Are you alright?"
The little girl sniffed, took it, and said, "Thank you."
Chen Zhou didn't know what to say, not knowing whether the other person was working part-time or full-time. After a long pause, he finally said, "You get paid for the work you do. If you cry, that's a different price."
The little girl's tears never stopped. "There was clearly a cockroach in the food, and the customer asked for a free meal. What does that have to do with me? He scolded me, why doesn't he scold the chef or himself for not managing the kitchen properly?"
Song Jianmin arrived at that moment, "What's wrong?"
Chen Zhou glanced at him, telling him not to talk nonsense.
The little girl moved her lips and said, "Thank you, sister. I'm going in now."
Song Jianmin put his hand on Chen Zhou's shoulder and said, "Chen Zhou, you're pretty good. You can even comfort people."
"Song Jianmin, get out!"
