The three of them kept their eyes fixed on the opposite side.
Before finally stepping into the restaurant, Mr. Tan glanced to his left and right.
Song Jianmin and the other two immediately lowered their heads and continued eating their noodles.
Song Anmin looked up and saw Tan's father calmly enter a private room.
It's not even noon yet, and apart from a few waiters, there are no other customers in the Hunan restaurant.
Song Anmin swallowed hard, then cursed and muttered, "I know, it must be the Hunan restaurant's doing."
Song Jianmin slammed his fist on the table again, "Damn it! If you're so capable, compete with your skills. What kind of hero uses underhanded tricks!"
The two brothers were furious and cursed in hushed tones.
Chen Zhou tugged at Song Jianmin's clothes, "Stop cursing, let's think about what to do next."
The three men's expressions were filled with suspicion and uncertainty. Song Anmin frowned and said, "Find someone to cause trouble and test the relationship between Tan Rongguo and them first."
Song Jianmin: "Third Brother, what do you mean?"
Song Anmin lowered his voice, "Tan Rongguo isn't the owner of that run-down shop. Why would he need to put his daughter in danger and send her to the hospital? Money alone might not be enough to sway Tan Rongguo."
Song Jianmin slapped his thigh. "You mean the second boss?"
They recognized the owner of the Hunan restaurant, a middle-aged man with a southern accent, whose father was a local.
Chen Zhou stroked his chin. "They're either the second or third boss, so their relationship is definitely not ordinary!"
Song Jianmin: "Then who should we look for?"
Song Anmin: "I have connections."
Song Anmin took Song Jianmin and Chen Zhou back to the brewery and found Jiang Chenggang, a coworker who was off work that day.
Jiang Chenggang used to share a dormitory with Song Anmin. When Song Anmin was framed by Zhao Zhao, it was Jiang Chenggang who came to Heping Lane to fetch him.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Chenggang immediately burst into laughter.
"Sure."
Song Anmin patted his good fellow worker on the shoulder, "Gangzi, I'll take care of your meals. Once this is done, my uncle will reward you handsomely."
Jiang Chenggang chuckled, "You said it yourself, kid, no cheating allowed."
Song Jianmin: "Don't worry, don't worry, we're all listening."
Jiang Chenggang was also a witty person. He felt it was strange for him to go out to eat alone, so he went to the textile factory next door and called his girlfriend.
The play must be performed realistically.
Jiang Chenggang's girlfriend is named Tao Zhi, a round-faced girl who loves to laugh. "Sure, we'll take care of it."
Song Anmin: "Thank you, thank you, thank you."
Song Anmin and his two companions continued to huddle in the noodle shop across the street, until they saw Jiang Chenggang and his companion enter the Hunan cuisine restaurant.
It was already noon, and there were four tables of customers in the Hunan restaurant, plus Jiang Chenggang and his group, making a total of five tables.
Jiang Chenggang and his companion sat at the doorway.
It's fine to run away.
They ordered a few specialty dishes and were ready to eat. Apart from a few waiters, there was no one else in the restaurant. There were three private rooms, one of which had its door closed, while the other two had their doors open.
Suddenly, Jiang Chenggang slammed his chopsticks down with a dark expression and slammed his hand on the table: "Where's the boss! Get the boss over here!"
The waitress, a young girl, quickly stepped forward. "What's wrong? Is there a problem?"
"So, you're just bullying your customers because you're a big restaurant, huh? What kind of lousy food is this? Can't you see this huge worm?!"
Tao Zhi's face flushed with anger. "This is a cockroach! What's wrong with your shop?! Someone poisoned Phoenix Pavilion, and now you've found a cockroach in your food. Is your night market even safe to eat anymore? You have so many problems! If you don't want to stay in business, just close down! You think the customer is always right? You've really spoiled yourselves!"
Jiang Chenggang: "Call your boss out here right now, we can't eat this meal anymore, let's think of something to do!"
The cockroaches were caught by Song Anmin and his colleagues at the canteen before they left the factory; they were old hands at it.
The chef from the shop immediately came out.
"Impossible, there's absolutely no way there could be cockroaches!"
The waitress glanced at the chef silently.
Why couldn't it be possible?
She found one in her food a few days ago, which led to her getting scolded by her boss.
The cook was sweating profusely with anxiety. "Impossible! Our stove area is spotless; there's absolutely no way there could be cockroaches!"
Not far away, Chen Zhou murmured, "So it was her."
Song Jianmin recognized it too, and scoffed, "There's no way there could be cockroaches! Just a few days ago, the customers were clamoring for a free meal."
Phoenix Pavilion is very strict about kitchen hygiene; it cleans every day and sprays cockroach bait.
Song Anmin: "You two know each other?"
Chen Zhou whispered about what happened that day.
Song Anmin: "Alright, you're a habitual offender."
Jiang Chenggang's voice was almost a roar, and his angry shouts came through.
"Get your boss out here!"
The other customers in the restaurant stopped eating and started checking the dishes on the table for any problems.
Soon, the two people in the private room came out.
Song Anmin clenched his fist. "That guy in the blue jacket, that's the boss!"
The other person wearing a plaid shirt was Tan Rongguo.
Song Jianmin: "Goodness!"
The shop owner in the blue jacket kept trying to persuade Jiang Chenggang, politely offering to give him a free meal, but Jiang Chenggang refused and demanded compensation. Only then did Tan Rongguo join in trying to persuade him.
"Forget it, young man, when you're in this business, you should probably just give up."
Jiang Chenggang's eyes widened. "Hey, brother, you're here to eat too. Have some consideration for my feelings. I'm a customer. My friend said your Hunan cuisine is authentic, so I came here. Is this your attitude?! And you're even taking the boss's side?!"
Tan Rongguo's expression changed slightly. "No, no, young man, we sincerely want to make amends. How about this meal is on the house, and next time you come, we'll give you a 30% discount."
Tao Zhi tugged at Jiang Chenggang, "Let's forget about it."
