Chapter 377 Suspecting an Accomplice

Song Anmin narrowed his eyes slightly, telling Wang Ya to pay more attention, and suggested that she move into his new house.

Wang Ya stared at Song Anmin in shock.

"Big brother, you're not kidding, are you? I'm going to stay at your place?"

Song Anmin nodded: "That's right, and you don't have to pay rent. The house is big, so it's convenient for you to live there."

Wang Ya's ears burned. She turned her face away and coughed lightly. "No, it's not good if someone sees us. Besides, even if something happens, our police station can respond quickly. You should go now. Don't you still have to go to the factory?"

Song Anmin nodded, "Then I'll come find you after get off work."

Wang Ya waved her hand impatiently: "Bye-bye-bye."

Song Anmin: "..."

A day passed in the blink of an eye. Today was Saturday, and Song Anmin's factory didn't require him to leave at 5:30. He could leave as soon as he finished his work. He left the factory at 3:00. Thinking that he hadn't seen Guoguo for a while, he bought some fruit and went to Dongguan District Middle School.

Guoguo has adapted well to her new home and can already walk. Children don't remember things easily, so she didn't quite remember Song Anmin at first, but after Song Anmin held her for a while, she became familiar with him.

Song Anmin did not leave until 4:30 pm.

He walked slowly, thinking about taking Wang Ya out for stewed chicken tonight. Just as he passed the traffic light, he stopped and casually looked ahead.

Just then, I caught a glimpse of a figure running past out of the corner of my eye.

Song Anmin frowned almost imperceptibly.

He glanced in that direction again.

Apart from a few scattered passersby, there was nothing there.

Song Anmin pursed his lips, walked a few quick steps after crossing the traffic light, then stepped to the side and stood close to the wooden door on the side of the street.

Then the figure reappeared.

It seems like he's the one they're looking for.

Song Anmin frowned even more. He stared at the man's face, which was completely unfamiliar. He was a young man, who looked to be in his early twenties. He was covered in dust and looked not wealthy. After about ten meters, the man went to another street.

Song Anmin stepped out, but the man was no longer on the street.

He hasn't been doing anything lately.

Why would anyone be watching him...?

When Song Anmin arrived at the police station, Wang Ya was not there, nor was Officer Zhao.

Xiao Zhou poked his head out from behind the stage, "It's Song Anmin."

Where is Wang Ya?

Xiao Zhou chuckled again, "Wang Ya went to a meeting at the Municipal Public Security Bureau with Officer Zhao. She specifically told you to wait for her; she should be back soon."

Song Anmin said "oh" and, since he had nothing else to do, he just found a seat and sat down.

Xiao Zhou even scavenged some cookies for him.

"Here, this is what Wang Ya left for you."

Song Anmin laughed, "So you're treating me like a child."

Xiao Zhou: "You guys have upgraded your status without anyone noticing, from VVVIP to internal family members."

Xiao Zhou gave Song Anmin a thumbs up.

Song Anmin touched his nose, realizing that everyone already knew.

Taking the opportunity, Song Anmin asked, "You're a professional, so let me ask you, under what circumstances would a law-abiding citizen suddenly be targeted?"

Xiao Zhou: "Are you being watched?"

Song Anmin: "...No, it's just a friend of mine. Never mind, it's just me. I didn't do anything. He's just a stranger. On my way here, I was trying to tackle him, but he ran away pretty fast."

Xiao Zhou: "What does it look like?"

Song Anmin gave a brief description.

Xiao Zhou: "Have you met any strangers recently?"

Song Anmin: "I just started school, but everyone I know is from my class, so there's nothing suspicious about it."

Xiao Zhou frowned. "If you have any further developments, you can tell us."

Song Anmin pursed his lips and asked about last night.

"What happened with Wang Ya catching that thief?" He hadn't had a chance to ask in detail that morning.

Speaking of this, Xiao Zhou also found it strange.

Last night, Xiao Zhou was on duty. He wasn't in the dormitory building behind the building. Another police officer lived in the building, but he went out drinking last night. Only Wang Ya was in the building.

Around 10 p.m., Xiao Zhou suddenly heard Wang Ya shout. Xiao Zhou grabbed a stick and rushed over, but there was no one there. After a while, Wang Ya returned angrily.

She said they didn't catch the kid, but it must be the same guy who came over the night before last.

Song Anmin: "Is there anything valuable in your dormitory building?"

Xiao Zhou chatted with him casually: "What's there to it? It's just a temporary place to stay. People who don't have time to go home at night stay in the dormitory."

The police officers and administrative staff at the station are all locals, and they usually go home after get off work. Only Wang Ya has been living in the building behind the station during this period.

The temporary accommodations are mostly for toiletries and clothes, nothing of value. And this place is right behind the police station, so it's not worth taking the big risk to steal from here.

Song Anmin also found it strange.

He glanced at Xiao Zhou, then thought, "Never mind, I'll ask Wang Ya when she gets back."

They waited until after six o'clock before Wang Ya and Officer Zhao returned.

Officer Zhao was going home for dinner, so Wang Ya and Song Anmin took Xiao Zhou, who didn't know what to eat that night, to the night market for barbecue. They knew there wouldn't be any seats left for stewed chicken at this hour.

On the way, Song Anmin told Song Anmin about being followed that afternoon.

Wang Ya's expression changed; she looked haggard and her complexion was not good. She said the same thing as Xiao Zhou, telling Song Anmin to be careful when he went out and to report back if anything happened.

While Xiao Zhou was choosing vegetables, Song Anmin couldn't help but ask Wang Ya, "Do you think we might be being watched by someone, like the group behind Skinny and his gang?"

After all, it was Song Anmin and Wang Ya who delivered the message.
