Early this morning, Song Anmin took Song Liyun and Song Mingzhou, the brother and sister, to school.
The two of them still had the dried fruit that Chen Zhou had bought for them yesterday in their bags.
Song Anmin had been giving instructions all the way, and now he couldn't help but remind her again, "Song Liyun, eat less. If you ruin your teeth, Dad will have to take you to get them pulled."
Song Mingzhou had already had it pulled once, and upon hearing this, he immediately covered his mouth and screamed, "Ah! It hurts!"
When Song Liyun saw her brother like this, she looked frightened and said, "Dad, I'll eat less, I'll eat less."
Song Anmin: "Yes, Mingzhou, you heard that too. You can't give your share to your sister, understand?"
Song Mingzhou glanced at Song Liyun discreetly.
Song Liyun: "Don't look at me! Don't look at me!"
Song Mingzhou: "..."
You are so smart.
After the siblings entered the school gate, Song Anmin prepared to go to work.
She was reluctant to come, but when she arrived in the classroom and saw her good friend Tongtong, Song Liyun was overjoyed.
"Junjun!"
Song Liyun divided the dried fruit that her fifth aunt had given her into two pieces for Tongtong, and then, like a puppy hiding a bone, immediately stuffed them into her schoolbag.
"You should try it!"
Tongtong took a bite, and her eyes lit up!
"Junjun, it's so delicious! Where did your fifth aunt buy it? Can you take me there?"
Song Liyun nodded, "I know! It's with Uncle Cornbread!"
The corn tortilla stall is the place where Song Mingzhou took Song Liyun and ran away from home a few years ago.
Tongtong: "I only have five yuan, is that enough?"
Song Liyun: "I have two yuan, and my brother has two yuan. We can lend it to you, but you have to pay it back tomorrow."
"Okay, okay!"
In the afternoon, Song Mingzhou was very unhappy that he couldn't go straight home and had to detour to buy dried fruit. Most importantly, his sister, who was known for her big mouth, had inexplicably lent him two yuan!
Song Mingzhou glared at Song Liyun.
Song Liyun didn't understand, and blinked her big eyes. "Brother, let's hurry up and go home soon!"
Song Mingzhou had no choice but to take two yuan out of his pocket and give it to Tongtong.
"Here you go."
Tongtong: "Thank you, Brother Mingzhou!!!"
Song Mingzhou smiled and gritted his teeth, saying, "You're welcome."
Left with no other choice, they had to change their route. Instead of taking the back roads, they followed the main road with the large group of students leaving school and headed towards the night market.
Zhuang Chenghao, who had been waiting near the school, frowned and followed them as they walked away from their planned route.
They were walking on a busy main road, so they had no chance to make a move.
Zhuang Chenghao's face grew increasingly dark as he watched the three people in front of him enter the night market.
The corn tortilla vendor recognized Song Liyun and Song Mingzhou, and when he saw them arrive, he gave each of them a free corn tortilla.
Song Liyun, her mouth greasy from eating, said, "Thank you, Uncle."
"You're welcome."
It was only a little before five o'clock, and the Phoenix Pavilion flagship store across the street wasn't too busy yet. When Mao Cheng saw Song Lijun and the others arrive, he walked over.
"Uncle Orange!"
The three little radish heads called out in unison.
Mao Cheng chuckled and asked them what they had come for today.
Song Liyun honestly replied, "Uncle Orange, we're going to buy dried fruit, it's over there!"
Mao Cheng looked in the direction Song Liyun was pointing, and the first thing he saw was Zhuang Chenghao, who was acting suspiciously not far from the dried fruit shop.
Zhuang Chenghao casually entered the dried fruit shop, seemingly oblivious to anything amiss.
Mao Cheng frowned and asked Song Mingzhou, "Mingzhou, do you know that person from earlier? When he comes out of the shop later, take a good look at him."
Song Mingzhou didn't know what was going on. He nodded and asked, "Uncle Orange, are there any bad guys?"
Mao Cheng chuckled, "It's nothing, I just wanted to take a look."
A short while later, Zhuang Chenghao came out, his hands empty; he hadn't bought anything.
Song Mingzhou glanced at Zhuang Chenghao's face, and only after the man had walked away did he say to Mao Cheng, "Uncle Chengzi, I don't know him."
Do you know each other?
Song Liyun and Tongtong shook their heads again.
Mao Cheng led the three into the dried fruit shop, and he casually asked the owner if the young man who came in earlier had said anything.
"No, he just came in and took a look. He ignored me when I asked him anything, looked around, and left. What kind of person is he? If you're not going to buy anything, don't come in!"
Mao Cheng's heart pounded with apprehension. "I'll go."
"What's wrong, Brother Mao? Something's not right?"
They've known each other for over ten years, but Mao Cheng's expression clearly wasn't right.
Mao Cheng forced a smile, "It's alright, I'll take them back first."
Mao Cheng was suspicious and didn't dare to let Tongtong go home alone, so he went back to the shop first to say hello and then sent Tongtong home.
Tongtong's parents were quite surprised to see that it was Mao Cheng and his group who brought her back.
Mao Cheng: It's nothing. We just happened to run into the child and brought him over on our way. We'll be going now.
"Goodbye Junjun, goodbye Mingzhou, goodbye Uncle Chengzi."
On the way back, Mao Cheng took one child in each arm and sent them to the police station. Wang Ya wasn't on field duty, so she stayed at the station.
Mao Cheng told Wang Ya everything that had just happened.
Wang Ya was greatly shocked, but quickly came to her senses.
The first person she thought of was Zhuang Chenghao!
Upon seeing this, Mao Cheng couldn't help but ask what had happened.
Wang Ya: "This matter is complicated, but it is somehow related to Liu Aimei."
Upon hearing this, Mao Cheng didn't ask any further questions. He figured the parents already knew what was going on. Wang Ya thanked Mao Cheng again, and Mao Cheng waved and left.
Wang Ya was still shaken and decided to find someone to pick up the brother and sister from school for the time being, so that they wouldn't have to walk around on their own.
Seeing his third aunt's worried expression, Song Mingzhou stopped his joking and grabbed Wang Ya's police uniform hem, asking, "Third aunt, are there bad people around?"
Wang Ya sighed and nodded, "Yeah, there are bad guys. Don't walk home from school by yourselves for a while."
Song Liyun opened her mouth wide, "Mom, are there bad people? I didn't see any."
Wang Ya: "It's the person your Uncle Orange was talking about. If you see him in the future, run as fast as you can and run towards a crowded place. If he's waiting for you at the school gate, don't leave the school, okay?"
