After the college entrance examination, the money rewarded by their parents and relatives, plus bonuses and other miscellaneous gifts, meant that each of the twins had at least 200,000 yuan.
This summer vacation was quite lively at the Song family home. Grandpa Qin and Grandma Qin even made a special trip to give red envelopes to the twins.
As Song Yingying and He Sui's son grew up, Qin Zheng, who was already in his late thirties, was still unmarried. Grandma Qin was worried about this, and when she held Xu Guiying's hand and spoke to her, she couldn't help but tear up.
Xu Guiying couldn't really judge the family's affairs, so she just said the best of both worlds.
"Good things come to those who wait. Besides, these things are all about fate. Qin Zheng is such a good person. He's efficient and capable, managing such a big company. Maybe the right person is still to come."
Grandma Qin has been comforting herself with these words for many years.
She sighed, no longer able to hold back. "You know, he's not interested in marriage. I almost thought he didn't like women anymore. But when I asked him, he said he doesn't like men either!"
Xu Guiying: "This..."
"Tell me, he's such a grown man, and his grandfather and I still have to worry about him. Look how old his sister's child is already. Does he really intend to wait until he's as old as He Sui to get married?"
"Don't believe the saying that men get more desirable with age. That's just something people say when they can't find a wife! What decent man doesn't get married and have children early? I'm not saying how early, but when he was in his early twenties, we didn't pressure him. Now his grandfather and I are practically on our deathbeds, and we probably won't even see our granddaughter-in-law!"
After Grandma Qin rattled off so much, Xu Guiying finally had a chance to speak.
"Has Qin Zheng never met a suitable girl in his daily work or life?"
"He doesn't pay attention to any of that. In his eyes, women are treated like men, and everyone is the same gender as him!"
Xu Guiying: "Aunt Qin, this can't be rushed. Who knows, one day when we can relax, Qin Zheng will bring home a wife."
Grandma Qin sighed again and started talking to Xu Guiying about other things.
Grandpa Qin was talking to Grandpa Song, Song Xinfu, and Xu Songyuan outside. It was quite a lively conversation. Everyone in Heping Lane heard that the Song family had some important relatives, and people frequently passed by to peek inside.
If Grandpa Qin sees them, he'll happily greet them.
The elderly couple were about the same age as Grandpa Song and Grandma Song. Grandpa Qin was not as robust as Grandpa Song, but Grandma Qin's legs were better than Grandma Song's.
They stayed there until evening. Mo Hong came over after get off work, and the third and fifth brothers were also granted special permission to come into the house.
Song Liyun was taken to swimming lessons by Wang Ya today. As soon as she returned to Heping Lane in the evening, she stretched out her hands to show her grandmother the swimming style she had learned.
"Grandma, Grandma, this is the doggy paddle! This is the breaststroke! This is DDD..."
Wang Ya added, "Butterfly stroke!"
"Yes, yes, yes!"
Xu Guiying laughed heartily, holding her adorable granddaughter, overjoyed.
Grandma Qin was also envious. She made Song Liyun stand in front of her, pinched the child's cheek, and said, "Oh my, you two are both so tall. Liyun will definitely be tall and beautiful in the future! She's so cute and well-behaved. If Qin Zheng had a daughter like this, tsk tsk tsk, I can't even imagine it."
Xu Guiying and the others laughed.
Song Lijun didn't quite understand, but she laughed along and called Tom over to introduce him to Grandma Qin.
Grandma Qin: "Good child."
Not long after, Song Yingying arrived with her son. He Sui was busy with company matters and didn't come today. Shortly after Song Yingying, Qin Zheng also came after get off work.
Qin Zheng was dressed in a suit and wore gold-rimmed glasses. In the words of later years, he was a "refined scoundrel".
What Grandpa Qin disliked most was Qin Zheng's carefree and irresponsible manner; he found fault with everything about him.
After dinner, the group dispersed.
The Song family all came to the alley entrance to see Grandpa Qin and the others off.
As Song Liyun led Tom along the alley, she couldn't help but look up at Qin Zheng with curiosity.
Qin Zheng found Song Liyun quite amusing and asked her, "What are you looking at?"
Song Liyun chuckled, "Uncle Qin Zheng, may I wear your glasses?"
Qin Zheng: "No."
Song Liyun pouted: "Why? I just showed you how to swim! I just learned it today, and even my brother didn't see it!"
Song Mingzhou's classmate is having a birthday party today, and Song Jianmin took him to his classmate's house early this morning. Lao Wu will have to pick him up later.
Wang Ya: "That's for people with nearsightedness, you're not nearsighted."
Qin Zheng looked at Song Liyun with a blank expression and said, "If you wear glasses, you'll ruin your eyes."
Upon hearing this, Song Liyun immediately widened her eyes, covered them, and peeked at Qin Zheng through her fingers.
Qin Zheng found the child amusing and deliberately took off his glasses to tease her, "Want to wear them? Here, Uncle will put them on for you."
Song Liyun turned and ran away with a cry of surprise.
Qin Zheng couldn't help but laugh. He had even had a few drinks tonight. It was rare for him to do that. Looking at Song Liyun, he understood his grandparents' feelings. If there was a lively character like Song Liyun in the family, how lively it would be.
Thus, without anyone noticing, Song Liyun briefly assisted Uncle Qin Zheng in his marriage.
Ever since Qin Zheng scared her, Song Liyun stopped going inside to watch TV and sat obediently on the sofa. Qin Zheng was the first person she had ever seen wearing glasses, and she didn't want to ruin her eyesight!
Even when Song Mingzhou got too close to the TV, Song Liyun would pull him back.
After the summer vacation, Song Liyun was promoted to the third grade and became the class's little expert at correcting eyesight. Whenever anyone got too close to their homework, Song Liyun would pull their collar.
During the third-grade mid-term parent-teacher meeting, the homeroom teacher gave special praise to Song Liyun.
