The first time Song Yingying met He Sui was shortly after they had been recognized as relatives. She was taken to the He family by her grandparents to attend He Chenggong's grandfather's birthday banquet.
He Chenggong was very noisy, saying he was afraid of his uncle, and then he pointed it out to Song Yingying.
“Look, that’s my uncle.”
Song Yingying only saw a very tall figure, even taller than her third brother. When He Sui turned around and met that expressionless face, Song Yingying felt that He Chenggong was right. Her uncle was really scary.
Song Yingying looked away and continued listening to He Chenggong's rambling.
The next time I saw Uncle He was at home. He had come to my house to find my grandfather, and they were drinking tea in the tea room.
Upon seeing He Sui, Song Yingying was reminded of He Chenggong's terrified face.
She was also very flustered when she saw He Sui.
His eyes were dark and deep, able to see into people's hearts. In front of him, Song Yingying seemed to be transparent.
After calling out to her uncle, she hurried upstairs.
The subsequent meetings were all very rushed. After she went abroad to study, she forgot about these things. When she returned to China for the first time during winter break, Grandpa Qin sent a car to pick her up at the airport.
As soon as Song Yingying loaded her luggage into the car, she heard another noise. She turned around and saw a familiar face behind the crowd.
Are you back from your business trip?
Song Yingying hurriedly got into the car. She probably didn't see her. She didn't see her.
As the car drove away, Song Yingying didn't see He Sui's gaze directed in their direction.
Every Chinese New Year, Song Yingying would visit the He family with Qin Zheng. Qin Zheng would chat with the elders, while Song Yingying was mostly quiet and was dragged around by He Chenggong.
He Chenggong went on and on, telling her about how he and Qin Zheng used to climb trees, swim, catch snakes, and steal bird eggs here when they were kids.
After walking around the long corridor, Song Yingying saw He Sui talking to someone at the end of the corridor, amidst He Chenggong's duck-like voice.
He Sui glanced at the two of them, then continued with his official duties.
He Chenggong hurriedly called out "Uncle," then pulled Song Yingying and changed direction.
"Didn't my uncle say he wasn't coming back today? Why is he suddenly back?"
Song Yingying felt cold and urged He Chenggong to come inside, saying vaguely, "Maybe something's wrong."
He Chenggong muttered a few words and then said nothing more.
Song Yingying met He Sui again in Jingdezhen.
It just so happened that her fourth sister was going to Jingdezhen to film a program. Song Yingying had never been to Jingdezhen before, so she took advantage of the winter vacation to go and have a trip there.
Song Yingying arrived at an inopportune time, just as Song Rongrong was not at the hotel. She wandered around with her bodyguard, carefully navigating the potholes on the ground. She picked up a few pieces of porcelain to take back as souvenirs, but unexpectedly ran into He Sui again.
Having dinner alone with He Sui was something Song Yingying never expected to happen.
He Sui acted like a gentle elder, showing concern for Song Yingying's trip here, inquiring about her recent studies abroad, and her future plans.
Song Yingying always had an indescribable feeling whenever she faced He Sui.
Like a student being closely watched by a teacher, He Sui asked a question, and Song Yingying answered it.
I couldn't resist sneaking a glance at He Sui, and I got caught again.
She coughed lightly: "Uncle, I'm full."
He Sui seemed to have a good temper. "Then let's go, I'll take you back."
"No need, I can go back by myself."
He Sui raised an eyebrow slightly. "There's no reason for you to go back on your own."
Song Yingying fell silent.
They walked one after the other, and finally arrived outside the hotel. He Sui then said that they would have another meal together the next day. Before Song Yingying could react, she subconsciously nodded and said okay.
After a night of mental preparation, Song Yingying felt inexplicably nervous.
She comforted herself, telling herself it was alright. After this meal, she was going to prepare to go abroad, so she wouldn't see He Sui for at least the next few months. If she deliberately avoided him during the summer vacation, she would see him even less.
Perhaps because of yesterday's experience, this meal was much more relaxed. When the two parted, Song Yingying felt a great weight lifted off her shoulders and happily waved to Chao He, telling him to take care on his way.
He Sui's smile was faint, but his eyes held emotions that Song Yingying could not decipher.
But Song Yingying didn't expect that her reunion with He Sui would happen so soon.
It happened in May. The weather was getting warmer. After finishing her afternoon classes, Song Yingying left school and was invited by a Chinese-American female classmate she got along with to go shopping. She was going back to China for summer vacation soon and wanted to buy some gifts for her family.
After strolling around for a while, the two also had dinner together.
As I was leaving the restaurant, I unexpectedly bumped into people on the street outside.
He Sui stood by the car, and his secretary opened the door for him. A young woman in business attire stood next to him.
Song Yingying doubted that she was imagining things, so she rubbed her eyes.
The female classmate asked her, "Yingying, what's wrong?"
He Sui had already looked over.
When Song Yingying saw his face, her eyes widened in disbelief. She saw He Sui smile as his face drew closer.
He Sui stood in front of her.
"What a coincidence."
Song Yingying hesitated, "Uncle?"
He Sui chuckled and nodded to the female classmate next to Song Yingying.
"...Uncle, hello, I am Yingying's classmate."
He Sui hummed in response, "Hello."
"Yingying, I'll be going now. See you tomorrow."
Song Yingying waved to her, "...See you tomorrow."
Only two people remained in the same spot.
He Sui raised an eyebrow. "Where do you live? I'll take you back."
Song Yingying gave the address, still looking incredulous, "Uncle, are you here on a business trip?"
He hummed in agreement.
He Sui got into the car with Song Yingying, much to the surprise of his secretary and driver.
