He Mingzheng blinked. "Hello, sister. My name is He Mingzheng. My mother is Song Yingying, my father is He Sui, and this is my uncle, Qin Zheng. I am three years old and currently attending Green Apple Kindergarten. I speak Chinese, a little English, and can play the piano. I'm also currently taking horseback riding lessons..."
Qin Zheng interrupted He Mingzheng, "That's enough."
He Mingzheng looked up at Qin Zheng, said "Oh," and then turned to look at Zhang Qinghua with longing eyes.
Zhang Qinghua, seeing no one laughing, reached out and patted He Mingzheng's head.
"You're so cute."
He Mingzheng blushed. "Thank you."
Qin Zheng added, "My sister and brother-in-law aren't in the capital. I'm bringing them with me today. I hope you don't mind."
Zhang Qinghua shrugged. "No, not at all."
Bringing her nephew to a blind date—whether it shows she values family or not—Zhang Qinghua didn't mind. She casually remarked, "You seem to value family a lot."
Qin Zheng: "...It's alright."
Zhang Qinghua glanced at him again. "If you don't want to go on a blind date, why did you come? Were you forced to? Actually, it was me too. My dad told me that my blind date is an incredibly handsome guy."
From the moment Zhang Qinghua said that, Qin Zheng's expression changed repeatedly. When the words fell, he raised an eyebrow, as if to ask, "What does that mean?"
You think he's ugly?
Qin Zheng curled his lips into a sneer, "Miss Zhang, am I not good enough for you?"
Zhang Qinghua spoke with a slight Hong Kong accent, and shook her head. This time she spoke directly in Cantonese, "I thought my dad would introduce me to a pretty boy."
Qin Zheng: "And Miss Zhang, if you didn't want to go on a blind date, why did you come?"
Zhang Qinghua smiled and said, "I just happened to come to the capital for tourism, but I ended up being tricked into coming here."
"And now?"
Zhang Qinghua has large eyes. She blinked slowly and said, "Please, gentlemen, give your opinions first."
Qin Zheng smiled and said, "Why don't we order first? Miss Zhang, please go first."
In the back-and-forth, neither side gained the upper hand.
Zhang Qinghua ate mostly Chinese food when she was a child. During her years studying abroad, the Chinese chefs she hired were not very good at cooking, so she ate Western food more often. Now that she's in the capital, she still eats Western food. She pursed her lips and casually ordered some dishes.
He Mingzheng looked at the pretty older sister, then at his uncle.
The meal was quite enjoyable overall.
Both of them had studied abroad, so their conversation about their experiences abroad was quite lively. Zhang Qinghua studied psychology, and after returning to Hong Kong a couple of years ago, she traveled around and didn't have a proper job. She plans to open a psychological clinic in Hong Kong after returning, hire a few experienced psychologists, and do something more substantial.
Qin Zheng nodded. "Miss Zhang's plan is excellent."
Zhang Qinghua ignored Qin Zheng's perfunctory words and said, "We've almost finished eating, let's go."
Qin Zheng glanced at his watch. "It's still early, how about we watch a movie?"
Zhang Qinghua raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Sorry, I have other plans later."
Hearing this, Qin Zheng smiled and accepted, "Do you need me to give you this?"
Zhang Qinghua: "If you have the time, it's not impossible."
So Qin Zheng drove Zhang Qinghua and He Mingzheng to the bar street.
To prevent He Mingzheng from seeing anything he shouldn't, Qin Zheng parked the car some distance away.
Zhang Qinghua got out of the car with a leisurely gesture and waved to Qin Zheng, "See you."
Qin Zheng smiled and stared at Zhang Qinghua's retreating figure.
He Mingzheng asked him, "Uncle, where is this?"
Qin Zheng turned the car around. "Her hotel is nearby."
He Mingzheng: "But I didn't see a hotel."
Qin Zheng: "Ahead."
After the car drove away, Zhang Qinghua stopped in front of her, turned her head to look at it, and snorted softly.
Just then, another car stopped by the roadside.
"Miss."
Zhang Qinghua got into the car. "Back to the hotel."
I came here merely to test Qin Zheng's attitude.
Qin Zheng, you know.
She wasn't as old-fashioned as she had imagined.
Qin Zheng's family didn't have He Mingzheng's toiletries, so they had to send him back to the Qin family home. As soon as he got home, Qin's grandparents started asking him what happened next.
Qin Zheng pinched the bridge of his nose. "It was just a meal."
Grandma Qin could tell from Qin Zheng's expression that it hadn't worked out, but thankfully she hadn't held out much hope anyway.
That's settled then.
Grandpa Qin tapped his cane in exasperation.
Qin Zheng coughed lightly, "I'm going to sleep now."
After seeing his uncle leave, He Mingzheng rubbed his eyes as well.
"Great-Grandma, I'm sleepy."
Grandma Qin said, "Alright, let's go, let's take our little Mingzheng to bed."
He Mingzheng was a sensible child. After lying in bed, he heard his great-grandmother ask him if he had fun tonight.
He Mingzheng nodded: "It's fun, and you're beautiful, sister."
He Mingzheng is a sucker for good looks.
I've liked pretty things since I was little.
Grandma Qin hadn't originally planned to ask in detail, thinking she wouldn't get any results, but after He Mingzheng spoke, Grandma Qin asked again, "So what did they say?"
He Mingzheng couldn't remember, and he was sleepy again.
Grandma Qin tucked him in and left.
After that, Qin Zheng and Zhang Qinghua never saw each other again.
Both families believed that the relationship had not worked out.
The following year, Qin Zheng went to Hong Kong on business and, by sheer coincidence, was on the same flight as Zhang Qinghua.
The two exited the airport one after the other.
Zhang Qinghua's older brother, Zhang Muyuan, was waving when he saw Qin Zheng.
"President Qin?"
At thirty-five, Qin Zheng was mature and composed, making him stand out in the crowd. He clearly saw Zhang Muyuan and walked over to him.
The Zhang family's businesses mainly involve shipping and finance. They control several important ports and wharves in Hong Kong. Zhang Muyuan had met Qin Zheng when he came to the capital on a business trip a couple of years ago, but they were just nodding acquaintances. Later, the family suggested arranging a blind date for his sister. Since the eligible men in Hong Kong were all unreliable, the Zhang family turned their attention to the north and took a liking to Qin Zheng. However, Zhang Qinghua was not satisfied, and Qin Zheng was not interested either.
Since that's the case, the Zhang family won't force them.
Now that they've met, Zhang Muyuan, for business reasons, has to stop Qin Zheng and exchange pleasantries.
The two shook hands, and Qin Zheng asked in surprise, "Is Mr. Zhang waiting for someone?"
Zhang Muyuan smiled and said, "I'm picking up my sister."
Qin Zheng retrieved Zhang Qinghua's face from his memory and was about to speak when he heard that slightly coquettish voice behind him.
"Big brother."
As she got closer, Zhang Qinghua noticed the person standing next to Zhang Muyuan.
Zhang Qinghua's eyes widened. "Qin Zheng?"
Qin Zheng smiled. "What a coincidence, Miss Zhang."
Zhang Qinghua: "Could it be that we're on the same flight?"
Zhang Muyuan spoke first, "President Qin, since we've run into each other, let's do our best to be hospitable and have dinner together tonight?"
Qin Zheng smiled faintly, "It would be impolite to refuse."
Zhang Muyuan asked Qin Zheng where the hotel was. After exchanging a few words, Qin Zheng declined Zhang Muyuan's offer to take him. The driver was waiting not far away. He glanced ahead and out of the corner of his eye, he saw Zhang Qinghua's puffed-up cheeks.
He found it somewhat amusing, and after bidding farewell to Zhang Muyuan again, he left.
Zhang Muyuan patted his sister's head on the spot.
"Control your expression. Qin Zheng hasn't said anything, and you, a local, are already upset."
Zhang Qinghua: "I'm not going home tonight. You can entertain him if you want."
