The other residents of the building all witnessed the strong man's brutality.
The burly man was estimated to be over 180 centimeters tall, with a muscular physique and a fierce look on his face; he was clearly not someone to be trifled with.
At that moment, a male homeowner in the same building was outraged and wanted to go out and argue with the burly man: "This is outrageous!"
But his wife grabbed him. The husband was often away at work, and the woman was always in the neighborhood with the child. Naturally, she recognized the man grabbing the old man: "That's the Ma family's scoundrel. Getting involved with him is just trouble. Your child is so young. What if something happens to you when you go out... what will happen to me and the child?"
The man fell silent after hearing this.
Everyone in the building knows the Ma family's character.
In the end, no one in the stairwell dared to stand up for the old man.
Just as the old man was pleading desperately, Ma Xiaotiao's voice came from behind the burly man. While searching for food in the old man's house, he said to the burly man, "Every time Grandma and I play downstairs, this stinky old man makes trouble for us. He either says we litter or that I'm wrong to steal other kids' toys. I hate this stinky old man so much! Dad, throw him downstairs right now!!!"
The burly man was Ma Teng, Ma Xiaotiao's father, when he heard his son Ma Xiaotiao say this.
Without the slightest hesitation, he glanced coldly at the old man and immediately released his grip on the old man's neck.
The old man instantly fell to the ground floor, which was filled with zombies.
They were devoured by the zombies waiting downstairs.
Seeing this scene, Ma Xiaotiao clapped his hands happily: "You old geezer, you deserve it! Let's see how you talk about me and Grandma now!!!"
Ma Teng changed his fierce look from before, reached out and rubbed his son Ma Xiaotiao's head, and said to Ma Xiaotiao in a very doting voice: "Which family do you still hate? After the old man finishes eating his food, your father will go to that family to get revenge for you."
Ma Teng's voice was clearly full of doting affection.
But they could hear other residents in the hallway expressing their fear.
Although Qiao An'an, who was across the street, couldn't hear the conversation in the stairwell, she still felt the danger. Although she had reinforced the wall, it was only four meters high. If someone wanted to, they could still climb over the wall with a ladder or other tools.
Such walls can only keep out zombies.
There is simply no way to guard against someone as ruthless and insane as Ma Xiaotiao's father, Ma Teng.
She had to do something.
We can't wait until Ma Teng has ransacked the entire neighborhood across the street.
She and Ya Ya will be in danger then.
Qiao An'an was thinking this, and didn't even notice Ya Ya calling her.
It wasn't until Ya Ya's chubby little hands started shaking her shoulders vigorously that she realized what was wrong. She looked at Ya Ya, who had a worried expression, and asked softly, "What's wrong?"
Ya Ya seemed anxious, grabbing her hand and pulling her into the room: "Box... chick!!!"
Qiao An'an was pulled to the cardboard box by Ya Ya and discovered that one of the chicks had hatched and several others were already trying to push their way out of the shell.
Qiao An'an smiled and asked Ya Ya, whose face was flushed with anxiety, "Ya Ya wants to tell Mommy that the baby chicks have been born, right?"
Ya Ya nodded emphatically.
Then she lifted the cloth covering the cardboard box, wanting to take out the chicks that had just hatched: "The chicks are so cute."
Qiao An'an quickly stopped Ya Ya: "The box is electrified! It will bite Ya Ya's hand!!!"
It will bite your hand if it hears that.
Ya Ya was so scared that she didn't dare to put her hand inside.
But his eyes were still lingering on the chick inside the cardboard box.
Qiao An'an avoided the power lines, took out the first fluffy chick that had hatched, and placed it in Ya Ya's hand: "Ya Ya wants to touch the chick, doesn't she?"
Ya Ya nodded vigorously and curiously touched the fluffy little chick.
Qiao An'an told Ya Ya that the chicks were very small and could only be touched gently, otherwise the chicks would be hurt. She then used the professional knowledge she had learned from the book to explain to Ya Ya: "Chicks will recognize the first person they see as their mother. Now you are the mother of this chick. Now Ya Ya's mother is going to the kitchen to get something to feed the chicks. Can the mother of the chicks take good care of them?"
After hearing this, Ya Ya held the chicks carefully in her hands, not daring to make any big movements: "Don't worry, Mom, I will definitely take good care of the chicks."
Just as Qiao An'an was scolding Ya Ya for reaching into the cardboard box to take the baby chicks because of the electricity, she suddenly remembered that she had a lot of leftover wires when she renovated the old wiring in her house. If she used these wires to make an electric fence for the yard, it would be a good way to prevent bad guys like Ma Teng from getting away with it.
When she brought water and rice up from the kitchen, all ten or so eggs had already hatched into chicks.
After feeding the chicks with Ya Ya, she went downstairs for their dinner: garlic-flavored pork belly and cold dandelion salad.
Yaya has been eating these two dishes for many days and has no appetite. In addition, she is thinking about her baby chicks, so she only takes a couple of bites and says she is full and wants to go upstairs to see the chicks.
After dinner, Qiao An'an gave Ya Ya a quick wash before allowing her to go upstairs.
Ya Ya insisted on sleeping with her baby chicks.
Having no other choice, Qiao An'an placed the box containing the baby chicks next to Ya Ya's pillow.
After Ya Ya fell asleep.
Qiao An'an went downstairs in the dark and first measured the length of the wall in the yard.
Then she went to the warehouse on the first floor, closed the warehouse doors and windows and drew the heavy curtains, and took out her phone and turned on the flashlight function.
Using the dim light of her phone's flashlight, she rummaged through the storeroom and found the leftover wires from the previous wiring work. Using pliers she had bought when repairing the house, she bent the extra thin wires into semicircular shapes. Then, she strung these semicircular shapes together with wires at half-meter intervals to form a wire mesh with wires. After making the wire mesh the same length as she had measured, she brought out a ladder from the storeroom and placed the semicircular wire meshes one by one on the courtyard wall, finally plugging in the plugs.
