Chapter 34 Forced to Leave by Companions

When Shen Zhou saw the arrow, he realized that the people in the courtyard across the street had saved him.

After climbing into the pickup truck, he nodded slightly towards the small courtyard before entering the residential area.

When the zombies behind him lost their target, they became enraged and frantically rammed into the pickup truck at the entrance of the residential area.

Fortunately, the group had previously added a lot of heavy objects to the back of the pickup truck as a barrier, making the entrance to the residential area very sturdy. When the zombies realized they couldn't break through, they dispersed after a while.

However, the residents of the community began to feel nervous.

Even Su Xinran, who had been urging the men to go out and rescue the sunken boat, unconsciously took a step back.

Although Shen Zhou returned, he had many wounds on his body, and it was unknown whether he had been bitten by zombies.

Seeing everyone's confusion, Shen Zhou said, "It's just a scratch."

Upon hearing Chen Zhou say that he only had scratches, Aunt Fang and Aunt Zhang immediately jumped out to refute him: "The people who entered the East Suburbs Shelter also said that they only had scratches, but what happened later?"

The East Suburbs Shelter is a community covering nearly 500,000 square meters.

It is a large community that integrates hospitals, schools, and armed rescue personnel.

You can even contact other people there using a landline.

Until it was conquered by a few people who concealed their infection, it was a source of comfort for everyone in the apocalypse.

Many of those present had escaped from the eastern suburbs shelter.

They had all witnessed the entire process of that large community going from prosperity to complete destruction. Although they respected Shen Zhou very much, they dared not take the risk: "Brother Shen, I'm sorry, we cannot let you into the community until we are sure that the injuries on your body are really just abrasions."

That means he should leave.

Chen Zhou glanced at the outside of the courtyard wall with some difficulty. There were zombies outside. How could he survive if he went out?

However, people did not sympathize with the sinking of the boat because of this.

Even Su Xinran, who had always admired Chen Zhou, turned her face away.

The people standing on the second floor of the small courtyard had a complete view of everything.

Qiao An'an silently put down the binoculars and said disappointedly, "It seems you shot that arrow for nothing."

Even Grandpa Gu Bei, who had witnessed too much of the coldness and warmth of human relationships, was heartbroken. What a good child he was, just like that... sigh.

Chi Xiaoyu simply watched all of this in silence.

Gu Bei was still just a kid at heart.

Unable to bear such injustice, her face was filled with indignation: "He only had a scratch, and he risked his life to save these people! How could these people have the nerve to kick him out?!"

Ya Ya was the only one who didn't know anything; she just tugged at Qiao An'an's clothes, wanting milk.

Ya Ya has finished her milk powder.

Children have a high need for protein.

Fortunately, Gu Bei found some plump soybeans among the ones he had planted before. After drying them, he ground them into soy milk every day, added sugar, and put it into a baby bottle for Ya Ya to drink.

When she heard Ya Ya say she wanted milk, Qiao An'an went downstairs to the kitchen to heat up some soy milk for Ya Ya.

The others remained upstairs, keeping an eye on the situation in the opposite residential area.

Chen Zhou was exhausted from drawing away the zombies, and could only retreat in the face of their intimidation. He tried to explain, "This is really just a scratch..."

They refused to cooperate when they saw the sunken boat.

One of the men had already drawn his weapon: "Brother Shen, don't blame us for being heartless. The time it takes for the corpse poison to take effect after being bitten and not dying immediately is uncertain. None of us dare to take that risk. After all, it concerns everyone's safety. It's better for you to die than for us all to die together, don't you think?"

Chen Zhou understood what they were afraid of.

After all, that's how the eastern suburbs shelter was destroyed in the first place.

Even if he guaranteed with his integrity, these people wouldn't risk their lives. He sighed and prepared to leave the food in his backpack behind.

Everyone knows about Chen Zhou's abilities.

Suddenly seeing Chen Zhou put his hand on his waist, they assumed he was about to kill someone to save his own life, and they all took a step back in fear.

They all breathed a sigh of relief when they saw that Shen Zhou had only left behind the food he had on him.

The duty of a JUN person has made Chen Zhou accustomed to taking the protection of others' lives as his own responsibility.

But the expressions on everyone's faces still sent a chill down his spine. As he turned to climb onto the pickup truck blocking the entrance to the residential area, a mocking smile crept onto his lips. So this was how his comrades, who had been through thick and thin with him for so long, viewed him.

Before Shen Zhou could even climb onto the pickup truck, someone grabbed his shoulder. Shen Zhou turned his head in surprise and saw that the person holding his shoulder was none other than Li Jianguo, who was usually the least liked by everyone.

While holding Chen Zhou down to prevent him from leaving, Li Jianguo shouted at the crowd in his loud voice, "Let's see who dares to force Chen Zhou to leave!!!"

Everyone looked at Li Jianguo with disbelief, as if he were a lunatic.

Su Xinran even screamed, "Li Jianguo, are you crazy? Do you know what you're doing? Chen Zhou... he might..."

Unlike those hormone-fueled fools who blindly obey Su Xinran, Li Jianguo despised such manipulative women. He coldly interrupted Su Xinran, saying, "Shut your stinking mouth. He might get bitten, but he might not. I trust Chen Zhou's character; he wouldn't lie to us!"

The crowd was alarmed: "We can't afford to take chances with this. What if Brother Shen himself doesn't even know he's been caught by zombies?"

Li Jianguo left no room for argument: "I'll take responsibility if anything happens!"

The crowd panicked, and several people immediately drew their weapons, trying to grab Li Jianguo: "Who are you? What right do you have to take responsibility? How can you take responsibility?!"

Li Jianguo kicked over the man charging at the front, pulled a dagger from his waist, glared at the crowd, and shouted, "I said I'd take responsibility, and I will! Come at me if you have a problem with that!!!"
