Chapter 137 Will Not Survive

Li Jianguo's life was a gift from Chen Zhou.

If it weren't for the bag of biscuits and the bottle of water that Chen Zhou handed him, he might have starved to death long ago.

At first, Li Jianguo trusted Shen Zhou a lot. Even though Shen Zhou and the others were unwilling to take him along, he insisted on chasing after the car.

Later, Li Jianguo single-handedly protected the entire community, ensuring Shen Zhou's entry into the community. In order to prevent Li Jianguo from being devoured by zombies, Shen Zhou disregarded the objections of the community members and fired his gun to pave the way for Li Jianguo. In Li Jianguo's heart, he and Shen Zhou were already brothers who had risked their lives for each other, so when he heard that Shen Zhou wanted to stay, he chose to stay without hesitation.

Even so, Li Jianguo had to admit that his brother was a bit too selfless.

Looking back, Li Jianguo saw many of Shen Zhou's decisions as major mistakes. Li Jianguo chose to follow Shen Zhou because he valued their brotherhood. However, while he was loyal, he was not foolish and would not blindly follow Shen Zhou's decisions knowing they were wrong: "The prison belongs to everyone. Whether or not to let people in should be based on everyone's opinion."

While Shen Zhou and Li Jianguo were climbing the outermost outer wall, Qiao An'an had already quickly arrived at the balcony on the second floor with the best view, and was observing the situation outside with binoculars.

Outside the prison.

Fang Yuyang's car was already very close to the prison, and the number of zombies had increased. Aunt Fang had no choice but to shrink back into the car and close the sunroof. Fang Yuyang kept stepping on the gas and desperately ramming the zombies that were rushing towards him. He wanted to get to the door as soon as possible to save Nan Qiao, who was curled up in pain in her seat.

But the zombies surrounded his car, even climbing onto the windshield and smashing the windows frantically.

The worst part was that the car suddenly stalled.

This was just a drivable car they found on the roadside.

Glass is not bulletproof.

The glass could be smashed by a zombie in the next moment.

Qiao An'an saw all of this and spoke into the walkie-talkie to Shen Zhou and Li Jianguo, who were arguing: "Half of Aunt Fang's body is outside the car window. The car is very low. Several zombies pounced on the car and were thrown off. It's hard to determine whether Aunt Fang has been infected by the zombies."

Even if Aunt Fang wasn't infected by the zombies, the car had already stalled and there was no way to drive it to the prison gate. If we forced the gate open under these circumstances, it would let in a lot of zombies. The second gate was just an iron mesh and couldn't withstand the impact of a large number of zombies.

Personally, I don't think opening the prison gates at this time will necessarily save Aunt Fang and the others; on the contrary, it will put our entire prison in danger.

His words were reasonable and logical.

This left Chen Zhou speechless.

But as his comrade's vehicle drew closer, how could he bear to watch him die without offering help?

The moment the zombie crashed into the windshield of the car, Chen Zhou could no longer remain calm. He placed the retractable ladder they had used to climb the prison wall outside the prison, and then shot the zombie in front of the car window in the head.

The dead zombies blocked the car window, easing the attack from the zombies behind.

Without further hesitation, Fang Yuyang opened the sunroof and carried Nan Qiao up the ladder, saying, "Qiao Qiao, hold on tight and don't let go!"

Seeing things had turned out this way, Li Jianguo could only help shoot at the surrounding zombies to buy time for the people in the car.

Fang Yuyang placed Nan Qiao on the wall and asked Chen Zhou to help take care of her: "Qiao Qiao is having a difficult childbirth..."

He then tried to turn around to meet his mother, Aunt Fang, but Aunt Fang's calf had already been bitten by a zombie. Even though Li Jianguo blew the zombie's head off, a deep tooth mark was still left on Aunt Fang's leg.

The skin around her gums quickly turned black, and she knew she was infected; death was only a matter of time.

At this moment, the ladder had already been knocked down by the zombies.

If Li Jianguo hadn't held on tightly, they might have been knocked to the ground by the zombies.

Even without the ladder, Yu Yang and the others could still jump down, but what about her pregnant daughter-in-law? She took one last deep look at her son and daughter-in-law, shouted, "Yu Yang, you must take good care of Qiao Qiao and my unborn grandson," and then jumped into the horde of corpses.

The zombies, who were frantically crashing into the ladder, all chased after Aunt Fang because of her actions.

Fang Yuyang's eyes reddened instantly, and he tried to stop Li Jianguo from taking down the ladder: "Don't take it down! My mom's still down there!!!"

Li Jianguo's hand froze as he retracted the ladder. Fang Yuyang's appearance inexplicably reminded him of his mother dying before his eyes because there was no medicine. But now was not the time to grieve. If he didn't retract the ladder now, the zombies would finish devouring Aunt Fang and then come crashing into it, making it difficult to retract it later. Thinking of this, he muttered, "Aunt Fang is dead... My condolences..."

The word "death" deeply affected Fang Yuyang. If Chen Zhou hadn't been holding him tightly, Fang Yuyang might have jumped off. Fearing that if Fang Yuyang continued struggling, they would both fall, Chen Zhou could only yell at him, "Wake up! Your wife is still in labor!!!"

The sound of the sinking boat brought Fang Yuyang back to his senses.

Fang Yuyang turned to look at Nan Qiao, who was in so much pain that she couldn't make a sound, and finally stopped struggling.

When Nan Qiao was carried to the second floor of the prison, she was already not very lucid, and her face was terribly pale.

After examining the baby, Qin Chengguo shook his head repeatedly: "The baby is breech. Aunt Fang is a nurse, she should have already tried to correct the position but failed. The amniotic sac broke, the baby hasn't been born yet, and the pregnant woman is unconscious. There's nothing I can do..."

Fang Yuyang had already lost his mother; he couldn't afford to lose his wife and children too. He grabbed Qin Chengguo and said, "You're a doctor, how can you not be good at this?"

Just because he's a doctor doesn't mean he knows everything!

Qin Chengguo explained, "I'm a surgeon, not a gynecologist..."

Fang Yuyang insisted that Qin Chengguo save Nan Qiao: "A cesarean section is a surgical procedure, and besides, you performed surgery on Grandpa Gu before. My mother said that Qiao Qiao's baby is breech, and if she insists on delivery, it could very well result in the death of both mother and child. Only a cesarean section might save the baby. We risked our lives to come back to prison so that you could perform a cesarean section on Qiao Qiao. You can't just stand by and watch her die!!!"

Qin Chengguo tried his best to explain to Fang Yuyang: "I did an appendectomy for Grandpa Gu, but that was a minimally invasive surgery. A cesarean section requires cutting open the abdomen and uterus, a total of eight layers of flesh. While pulling the baby out, you also have to pull out the intestines and put them back in. Not only is the surgery more difficult, but it is also very likely to cause massive bleeding in the patient. I don't have any blood plasma, so I don't have the conditions to do such a major surgery."

When Fang Yuyang and his group entered the prison, the people inside gathered around them.

Even though they weren't doctors, they realized that Nan Qiao's current condition was extremely dangerous.

Qiao An'an saw that Nan Qiao's face was covered in cold sweat, so she took out a handkerchief to wipe it off for her.

As she was wiping, Nan Qiao suddenly woke up. In a hoarse voice, she said to Qin Chengguo, "I know I'm not going to live. Please, save my child."
