This sudden change came too suddenly.
Qiao An'an didn't react for a moment until the zombie sales clerk suddenly collapsed to the ground.
A man's figure appeared outside the fitting room.
Qiao An'an recognized the man as the one who had tried to break into her small courtyard and was electrocuted by the electric fence. She vaguely heard people in the community calling him Chen Zhou.
Previously, Qiao An'an had only seen Shen Zhou from a great distance and only thought that the man was thin.
Upon closer inspection, one sees that he has broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and a strong physique. His features are sharply defined, with a cool, pale complexion and an appearance that leans towards the ascetic type. If he were in the pre-apocalyptic world, he would definitely be a heartthrob.
But in this situation, making eye contact with him always gave Qiao An'an the feeling of being targeted by prey.
Qiao An'an looked at Chen Zhou behind the door, and at that moment Chen Zhou also saw Qiao An'an. Their eyes met, but neither of them spoke first.
Just then, a voice suddenly came from behind Shen Zhou: "Brother Shen, what happened inside? What was that sound just now?"
Qiao An'an thought that Shen Zhou would expose her.
To everyone's surprise, Chen Zhou turned around and used his tall frame to block the door to the fitting room. He then said to the person who came in, "Nothing happened. There was a zombie that had escaped, and I took care of it!"
Hearing Shen Zhou's words, the man was relieved and turned to walk outside, saying as he went, "There are only clothes and blankets here, nothing much to take. There's plenty of food ahead, Brother Shen, hurry up and come to the front!"
Chen Zhou responded and followed the man's footsteps forward, without even glancing at Qiao An'an in the fitting room.
Qiao An'an was completely bewildered. Just now, she and Shen Zhou were less than a meter apart. At such a close distance, unless someone was blind, anyone could see her, right? Why did Shen Zhou pretend not to see her and even help her cover it up?
As Chen Zhou left, he paused briefly: "Thank you for the arrows."
It turns out he was repaying a debt of gratitude for the arrow he had received.
Qiao An'an breathed a sigh of relief, finally certain that Chen Zhou wouldn't hurt her. She never expected that Chi Xiaoyu's small act of kindness would save her life.
While Shen Zhou and the others were collecting food in front of the food shelves outside, she gathered all the quilts and down jackets together, then hid behind the shelves and waited for everyone outside to leave.
After making sure everyone outside had left, Qiao An'an started walking outside. When she got to the kitchenware section, she put all the plastic wrap on the shelf into bags.
If we really need to build a greenhouse, and there isn't enough plastic film, could we use cling film instead?
Right now, in the woods across from the supermarket.
They waited a long time for Qiao An'an to come out, and they couldn't reach her through the walkie-talkie either.
Chi Xiaoyu couldn't wait any longer and wanted to rush in to save people, but Grandpa Gu Bei held her down: "Right now, only An'an is exposed. If you rush in, won't we all be exposed?"
Chi Xiaoyu didn't care about any of that; she was only worried about Qiao An'an. She pushed Grandpa Gu Bei away.
Grandpa Gu knew from the moment she shot the zombie that bit the girl who was jumping off the building, even though it exposed her own location, that this girl was incredibly stubborn, and that once she made up her mind about something, no one could stop her.
Seeing this, Grandpa Gu Bei could only soften his tone and say, "I know you're not afraid of death, but have you thought about how if we're exposed, the courtyard will be exposed too? If your actions implicate Ya Ya, what will your sister An An think? I don't think she'll forgive you even if she's rescued."
When Chi Xiaoyu heard Grandpa Gu Bei mention Ya Ya, she suddenly stopped in her tracks.
She got to know Qiao An'an through Ya Ya's videos.
In the video, Ya Ya's parents divorced when she was three years old and she lived with her mother. This was very similar to her own experience. The difference was that Ya Ya was happier than her. Ya Ya received all the love from her mother that she never received. She liked Qiao An'an's videos because she envied Ya Ya, and then she liked Qiao An'an as her mother.
She has watched all of Qiao An'an's videos.
She knew how much Qiao An'an cared about Ya Ya.
When Grandpa Gu Bei saw that Chi Xiaoyu had stopped, he knew that his words had worked, so he continued to persuade Chi Xiaoyu, "Why don't we wait and see what's going on?"
Chi Xiaoyu did not speak.
This can be considered an acceptance of Grandpa Gu Bei's plan.
The two waited in the woods opposite the supermarket for a while before they saw the group of people who had just entered the supermarket come out. Each of them was carrying large and small bags, obviously having taken a lot of good things from inside. After they all left, they still didn't see Qiao An'an.
Chi Xiaoyu was very worried.
Grandpa Gu Bei, however, said it was good that they hadn't seen anyone: "An'an is a smart child. The fact that we haven't seen An'an means that these people haven't noticed her!"
That's true.
But what if something has already happened to Sister An'an?
Chi Xiaoyu was a little worried. As soon as the group disappeared from sight, she went straight to the supermarket to pick up Qiao An'an. As soon as she walked out of the woods, she saw Qiao An'an carrying a mountain of cotton quilts and down jackets, walking out of the woods with difficulty.
Seeing that Qiao An'an was alright.
Chi Xiaoyu breathed a sigh of relief and hurried forward to help Qiao An'an carry her things.
Although Grandpa Gu Bei kept reassuring Chi Xiaoyu that Qiao An'an was alright, he himself wasn't entirely sure. After spending so much time with the two children, he had come to regard them as family. Seeing Qiao An'an return safely, his anxiety finally subsided. He nodded to Qiao An'an, picked up the sprouted sweet potato, and turned to walk home, saying, "It's good that you're alright, it's good that you're alright..."
Qiao An'an brought back a total of four quilts this time.
