Chapter 7: One sentence makes Qin Jiahuai lose his temper
Chu Yao pursed her lips, looked at her, and said nothing.
Cheng Yiyi grabbed her arm and wanted to say more.
But before he could open his mouth, a cold and indifferent voice came from behind him:
"You're so excited, your dad is dead too?"
Cheng Yiyi looked towards the door.
Qin Jiahuai stood outside the kitchen, his shirt sleeves slightly rolled up, his slender fingers clutching a bottle of mineral water, his eyes heavy and with obvious coldness.
Cheng Yiyi had always been inexplicably afraid of him, and her tone immediately weakened a bit. She said with a puffed face, "Brother-in-law, what are you talking about? How can you talk to your elders like that..."
Qin Jiahuai remained calm and said in a relaxed tone, "Well, I have no manners."
"..." Cheng Yiyi really couldn't utter a word.
Qin Jiahuai walked to Chu Yao and took her hand: "Let's go back."
Chu Yao looked at Song Huiping deeply, but she did not try to keep her.
Chu Yao nodded and left with Qin Jiahuai.
Song Huiping watched them leave the door.
After closing the door, Song Huiping turned back to comfort Cheng Yiyi: "Your brother-in-law is indeed like this. People with ability tend to have a bad temper. But your sister won't ignore you. After all, it was because of her that you suffered from depression, and she has to be responsible for you. I'll call your sister again tonight."
Cheng Yiyi nodded.
Song Huiping didn't notice the sarcastic smile in Cheng Yiyi's eyes at all.
-
In the elevator.
Qin Jiahuai leaned against the elevator, lowered his eyes slightly, and stared at Chu Yao with a half-smile.
"You're sharp-tongued with me, but you're silent with them. You argued with me even when you were wrong, but now that you're right, why are you so quiet?"
Chu Yao's throat moved, and she choked and said, "Thank you."
“…” Qin Jiahuai suddenly stalled.
Chu Yao didn't say anything else, staring blankly at the numbers on the elevator gradually jumping down.
In fact, she was not thanking him for what happened just now.
When Cheng Yiyi brought up her father and Qin Jiahuai suddenly appeared to help her out, she suddenly remembered that they had experienced something similar when they were young.
When I was four years old, my father passed away.
There is a custom in Fengpu City that at the funeral of the deceased, the eldest grandson or eldest son needs to carry the spirit banner. If neither of them comes, the son-in-law must come.
Her family didn't have any, so she originally wanted to find a distant cousin to come and help.
But grandma wouldn't let her. She said it was a girl and she was my father's only blood.
Finally she tried to lift the spirit banner, but the banner was so big and she was so short that it dragged on the ground.
Some of the neighbors probably thought she looked funny and actually laughed.
She felt so sad and ashamed, and she cried as she walked.
It was Qin Jiahuai who suddenly came out and helped her hold up the back of the spirit flag.
The neighbor also told Qin Jiahuai that he should not touch the person who was not a family member, as it would be unlucky and his parents would definitely beat him when he got home.
Qin Jiahuai was so young at the time, yet he dared to be mean to those tall adults. He told them to mind their own business.
Later he really became my father's son-in-law. I wonder if it was because he touched my father's spirit flag when he was a child?
But this happened when he was four years old, so he probably hasn't remembered it for a long time.
But she always remembered this incident... and always owed him a thank you.
Soon, the elevator arrived.
The two of them came out one after the other.
Qin Jiahuai suddenly asked, "How did they embarrass you this time?"
Chu Yao was silent for a few seconds before speaking, "It's not really that difficult. I owe her this. If it weren't for me, Cheng Yiyi wouldn't have had that experience, and she wouldn't have had depression and dropped out of school. I'm responsible for the life she's living now..."
Qin Jiahuai knew this was the case.
She seems unforgiving, but she is actually very thoughtful and blames herself for many things.
Otherwise, I wouldn't have felt guilty for so many years because of what happened to Xu Qingyun back then.
Qin Jiahuai stared at her: "How much do they want this time?"
Chu Yao avoided answering: "I can handle it myself."
She stopped and when she looked up again, her eyes had returned to their former clarity and detachment.
"Given the current relationship between you and Luan Jing, it's not appropriate for us to get too close. See each other less often in the future."
After she finished speaking, she turned and left.
A resolute figure, a little ruthless.
Qin Jiahuai stood there and watched for a long time.
But what she said is indeed the crux of the matter.
-
Chu Yao returned home and took a quick shower.
Sit down at the desk and take out your diary.
Thinking about how to guide the young Qin Jiahuai to help him change Cheng Yiyi's fate.
Back then, thirteen-year-old Cheng Yiyi was scolded by her parents, so she ran to Fengpu City alone to find her sister.
Since I was working at school and had some money, I generously took my sister to the mall for dinner.
After dinner, the two men passed by a gold shop and decided to go in to broaden their horizons.
Unexpectedly, a salesperson suddenly pulled Cheng Yiyi and accused her of stealing.
Chu Yao protected Cheng Yiyi, argued with them, and asked them to check the surveillance footage.
But there were a lot of people in the store that day, and since they were both short, they were blocked by tall customers, and there were several blind spots where they could not be photographed.
Cheng Yiyi cried heart-wrenchingly and said that she did not steal.
But others didn't believe her and searched her body, but in the end they found nothing.
After the two returned home, Chu Yao actually found the bracelet in her bag!
But she made sure she didn't take it.
She suspected that it was because the canvas bag she was carrying was open, and a salesperson took out a lot of samples to show customers. She also leaned over to take a look, and when she turned around, she accidentally touched it and took the bracelet into the bag.
She immediately went to return the bracelet and explained the matter.
She thought the matter was over.
But unexpectedly, two months later, her mother told her that Cheng Yiyi's experience of being searched and stared at in the mall caused her to suffer from depression, which was so serious that she could not go to school.
She took two years off from school to seek medical treatment.
Finally I barely passed the high school entrance exam, but my results were very poor.
Her family paid for her to attend an ordinary high school, but she eventually dropped out because she couldn't keep up with the progress.
Chu Yao always felt that it was her unintentional mistake that ruined her life.
So over the years, she has been asking for whatever she wants from Cheng Yiyi.
But my ability is limited, and this is obviously not a solution.
Since she made her own life a little better last time, maybe she can also change Cheng Yiyi's life for the better.
After thinking for a long time, Chu Yao picked up the pen.
Chu Yao: [Dad, you told me about a classmate of yours who was in such a bad situation. This Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, this classmate went to a jewelry store and a gold bracelet accidentally fell into her bag. She didn't know about it and was mistaken for a thief.]
Chu Yao: [Dad, can you please help this classmate of yours? Just go over and remind him on the same day. I'm also a study committee member, just like you were back then. I think we have an obligation to help our classmates.]
This excuse feels a bit lame...
But her current identity is Qin Jiahuai's daughter.
In order to set an example for his daughter, he should help his classmates, right?
She waited anxiously for a long time.
Finally, Qin Jiahuai replied.
