Chapter 14 Hostility
"We're here! Everybody get off." When the sun was about to set, the car finally reached a valley. The person who took notes had already gotten off the car and was now greeting everyone in the car.
Standing next to him were a few old men driving ox carts. One of them was holding a large pipe and smoking a pipe. When he looked at them, his brows were frowned.
Jiang He knew that the other party might not welcome them. After all, in their eyes, they were just a group of young people who couldn't lift their hands or carry anything, and just ate and drank for free.
"Why does that old man act like we gave him a lot of money? Please don't let us get his place." A girl who came down with Jiang He muttered.
"Everyone from Team Seven, gather here!" The recorder tore off a piece of paper from his notebook and called out the names on it. There were six people in total: Jiang He, Gao Youhui, Lu Fengfeng, Zhao Xiaoxue, Lin Ran and the girl just now. Ji Shijie was assigned to Team Six.
After saying hello to Ji Shijie who was reluctant to leave, Jiang He watched him get into the car and then turned his attention to himself. He didn't care, as this body was used to doing hard and dirty work anyway. These people had misunderstandings about them now, but maybe they would change after a while.
"Yan Zhizhi, that..." The old man who had been smoking a pipe had an embarrassed expression on his face.
"Uncle Liu, you've already pushed it several times. This time, the higher-ups tell you that you must receive a few educated youths, otherwise other villages will complain." Jiang He didn't know if it was because he was standing too close, but he heard what the recorder said.
"Yan Zhizhi, I know what you said, but once bitten, one will fear the rope for ten years. The girl from Liu Er's family is still crazy. If I bring a group of people back, wouldn't it be a stab in their heart?" said the old man called Uncle Liu, and he gave Jiang He a special look, as if he wanted to say something but stopped.
Seeing Uncle Liu's embarrassment, the recorder sighed and said, "I'm really not trying to embarrass you. I can't do this. It's said above that if you don't collect it this year, then this year's performance will not be counted towards you."
"What?" Before Uncle Liu could say anything, a middle-aged man squatting nearby asked loudly, "Why doesn't it count as our performance? Just because we didn't accept the educated youth?"
"Uncle Liu, don't worry. That incident was an accident. There are good people and bad people here. You can't overturn a whole group of good people because of one bad guy, right?" The recorder advised earnestly, "Not everyone wanted him to be angry about this incident, but you can't blame others for this person's fault, right?"
"As long as we don't let those educated youths harm our village, nothing will happen." Another young man with a simple look said this angrily.
"This..." The recorder looked at the six young men who were still standing by and waiting, and was also embarrassed. "Why don't you give them a chance? If anything happens again, I will never send anyone to your village again from now on. Is that okay with you?"
"Okay! But replace them two. I'm worried about leaving these two pretty boys here." Uncle Liu gritted his teeth and agreed, but pointed at Jiang He and Lu Feng.
It's really like a pot falling from the sky at home. Jiang He was almost laughing out of anger. Looking at the cold-faced man next to him who was still indifferent, he felt speechless. This guy is quite calm.
Seeing the other person staring at him as if he was guarding against a thief, Jiang He could only smile and say, "Uncle, if you are worried, just arrange for me to be in a more remote place. If you keep pushing me around like this, I'm afraid your village's performance will be deducted."
Seeing that dazzling smile, Uncle Liu wanted to refuse even more, but he caught a glimpse of a trace of impatience in the recorder's eyes. He lowered his head and thought about it, then nodded. In his mind, he had already planned to arrange Jiang He in the most remote residence.
