Chapter 59 Lin Ran's Strange Behavior (2/2)

After saying that, he ran straight to the next yard, and sure enough, he saw Grandpa Jiang leaning back in a recliner, humming an opera tune, looking extremely comfortable. When Xiao Douzi saw Jiang Heshi, he jumped three feet high, and was coaxed out by him in the same way.

Grandpa then sat up and looked at him, "Aren't you busy with school? Why did you come back so early today?" As he spoke, he looked up at the sun above his head and asked in a surprised tone.

"One of the ten egg-laying hens raised in the village is missing. We found out that something ate it. We plan to go together to catch the chicken thief tonight. I may be back late at night, so I thought of letting you stay with the children and keep an eye on them." Jiang He said.

"What ate the chicken? Was it a wolf in the mountains?" Grandpa frowned.

The quiet mountain village should be the safest place at this time of year. Besides, there is not much food in the village, and almost every household has a hunting rifle. Those beasts are very smart.

Jiang He told the other party about the previous encounter with the python, and repeatedly told the other party not to come out. He put the steamed buns prepared in the space in the main hall and said, "That's all for you and the children today. I'm going to go to Grandpa Haizi's place."

As he said that, he went straight to another yard, put away the things he had prepared, and took out a bag of realgar from the storage rack in the space. He scattered the realgar around the house along with the things in it. After putting these things away and admonishing a few children, Jiang He went towards Qi Zi's home again.

After all this going on, the sky gradually darkened. When Jiang He went over, the villagers had already set up traps and were waiting for dark.

"Jiang He, why did you come so late?" Gao Youhui took a bite of the steamed bun that Jiang He brought over, and drank it down with a big gulp of boiled water.

"Oh, on the way back I went to see if the school gate was closed, but I did meet someone." Jiang He took out another steamed bread from the bag and handed it to Lu Mingfeng who was sitting next to him.

"Who is it?" Gao Youhui asked curiously.

"Lin Ran!" Jiang He didn't eat anything, he just unscrewed the lid of the kettle and drank a sip of water. When he spoke to Lin Ran, there was a strange light in his eyes.

"She?" Gao Youhui was puzzled when he heard it. "She doesn't look like a moral role model to me. Is she coming up with some bad idea to mess with you again?"

It's no wonder that Gao Youhui is so suspicious. Both the superiors and the village chief have given the task of setting up the school to Jiang He. If there are any mistakes, the other party will be held accountable.

"When did you meet her?" Lu Mingfeng asked suddenly.

"It was probably around four o'clock. I saw her holding a vole in her hand. Maybe she came here to catch mice because she saw one in the school." Jiang He smiled, as if he didn't care about the other person's behavior at all.

"She caught a vole?" Lu Mingfeng suddenly stood up, his face serious. "What else did she do after that?"

"It's nothing. She even asked me if I saw anything. What else could be in there besides tables, chairs and benches? She just said she didn't see anything and left. There shouldn't be any problem with that, right?" Jiang He broke off a piece of the steamed bread in his hand and said with a smile.

"It's okay!" Lu Mingfeng's eyes were dark, and the color of his pupils was as dark as ink.
