In the late stages of pregnancy, Lin Man often woke up in the middle of the night, either with pain in her buttocks or leg cramps.
When Huo Qingci heard his wife moaning with her eyes closed, he stuffed a pillow into her arms, sat up and massaged her legs until she fell asleep again.
When Lin Man woke up the next day, she found that it was almost nine o'clock and only her mother-in-law Xiao Ya was at home.
"Manman, get up. Go wash up quickly. I'll go heat up your breakfast porridge with preserved eggs and lean meat."
Lin Man felt a little embarrassed. Her sleep quality became worse and worse in the later stages of her pregnancy. She had to wake up several times at night, either because of pain here or there or because she wanted to go to the bathroom.
I sleep until eight or nine o'clock every morning, and Huo Qingci usually helps me make breakfast.
After Lin Man washed her face and brushed her teeth, she sat down to eat breakfast. Xiao Ya chatted with her, "Manman, Qingci said your legs always cramp at night. I think you're calcium deficient. I went to the supply and marketing cooperative this morning to grab some shanks. I'll make you some soup for lunch."
"Thank you, Mom. Where are Grandpa and Qinghuan?"
"They went to see Commander Lu and probably had lunch at his house. Manman, have you washed the children's clothes? How about I wash some and hang them out to dry?"
"Mom, I've washed all the clothes and blankets, and I've also prepared fifty diapers. That should be enough."
"The small clothes I brought have been washed, so you can just take them out and wear them when the time comes."

Lin Man had just finished breakfast when Xiao Ya asked her to go and rest. How could she possibly sleep after just eating? She planned to take a walk in the yard.

Lin Man let her do whatever she wanted. When her mother-in-law came, her hands were free. She just had to stretch out her hand to get clothes and open her mouth to eat. She didn't have to do anything. Not only did she not have to do laundry or cook, but Huo Qingci also helped her take a bath.
Now she is too fat to squat on the ground, and she can only go back to the space to squat on the toilet when she goes to the bathroom.
My mother-in-law made lunch. Since my grandfather and Huo Qinghuan were not at home, she only made three dishes.
A pork bone stewed with carrot soup, a pan-fried hairtail fish, and a stir-fried shredded lettuce.
Lin Man didn't say anything. She drank two bowls of soup and only ate half a bowl of rice at noon.
Huo Qingci said, "Mom, I'll buy the seafood and vegetables from now on, and you just need to buy the meat."
Xiao Ya asked: "Why do you have to buy them separately?"
Huo Qingci explained: "I will buy seafood and vegetables from the fishermen, and you can go to the supply and marketing cooperative to buy meat and other daily necessities."
He couldn't say that there was endless seafood in Manman's space. It was not convenient for Manman to go out now, so he had to bring back the seafood.
"Okay, I won't buy seafood anymore. I'll only buy meat. But you don't have many tickets to buy meat! Son, you didn't buy the tickets from a scalper, did you?"
“No, I usually trade with my colleagues. If I can’t, I’ll eat less meat.
Or you can go find local fishermen, some of whom have chickens, ducks, and geese at home, and you can give them a little more money so they don’t need a ticket.”
"Then go find some fishermen tomorrow and buy some chickens and ducks, and stew them for Manman."
Huo Qingci nodded and said, "Okay, I'll go buy it after get off work this afternoon. Grandpa likes fish, so I'll steam a fish for him in the evening."

After dinner, Xiao Ya cleaned up the dishes, and Huo Qingci pulled Lin Man back to the room, and the two of them entered Lin Man's space.
Lin Man asked Huo Qingci, "What kind of fish do you want to eat tonight?"
"Get a larger mackerel to make fish balls, and a smaller grouper to steam."
When my mother-in-law and grandfather came, they certainly couldn't just put these things into the kitchen out of thin air, they had to bring them back from outside.
In the past, when Huo Qinghuan went out to play, Lin Man would secretly take food from the space, and when Huo Qinghuan asked, she would say she bought it. When her mother-in-law came, she would not go out for shopping unless she had something to do, so some things could only be brought back by Huo Qingci.
"Let's go fish it out in the fish tank now. Besides making fish balls, we can also make dumplings with the mackerel meat."
"Manman, you stay here. I'll go to the fishing boat and get the fish from the fish hold myself."
Lin Man waited in the villa for more than ten minutes. Seeing Huo Qingci coming in empty-handed, she asked, "Didn't you get anything?"
"No, I put them in the water tank in my space. Manman, do you want to eat turtles?"

Huo Qingci wanted to take a nap, so Lin Man stayed with him until two o'clock. When she came out of the space, she found that her grandfather and Huo Qinghuan had returned.
Huo Li discussed with Huo Qingci, "You've been here for so long and you haven't invited Commander Lu and his family to dinner yet. Why don't you invite them over for dinner in a couple of days?"
"Grandpa, I was planning to treat them to a meal after Manman gave birth, but if you come, we can treat them to a meal in a couple of days. It will just trouble Mom."
Xiao Ya said, "What's so hard about cooking? You are such a fool. You should thank Commander Lu and invite them to your home for a simple meal.
Your aunt and her family were brought here by Commander Lu. If they were moved to another place, they would probably be put up for self-criticism every day."
"Mom, even though I didn't invite them to dinner at home, I sent him seafood several times."
Lin Man also felt that it was okay for them to do so, and it was not too rude. She had given them a lot of gifts, but she just didn't invite them to dinner at home. She probably thought that even if she invited them, they might not come.
Now that her grandfather was here, she thought that even if they didn't go to ask Commander Lu for help, he would come to her on his own initiative.
Sure enough, the next evening, Commander Lu came to visit with his wife Zhu Xiuhua, eldest grandson Lu Nanyu, and youngest granddaughter Lu Beiwei.
I heard that his three sons are not in Sanya, one is in Beijing and two are in Guangzhou.
Lin Man was really glad that she had placed traps in the fish pond in Huo Qingci's space the night before. She caught a lot of loaches, eels and turtles and raised them in the backyard kitchen.
The duck that was killed in the afternoon was intended to be stewed with soft-shelled turtle in the evening. Fortunately, it was not stewed. Since there were so many people, it was just fried.
I made a basin of mackerel balls at noon and added some seaweed to make fish ball soup.
Then braise a soft-shelled turtle, fry a plate of loach, make duck with ginger, pan-fry yellow croaker, add some cold spinach and steam a bowl of boiled egg.
The Huo family warmly entertained them, but of course Lu Zheng and his family did not come empty-handed.
They tore off two pieces of cloth, saying they were to make clothes for the baby in Lin Man's belly. They also bought a few cans of fruit and two cans of malted milk, saying they were to nourish Lin Man's body.
Lin Man accepted it with a smile, and after dinner, she asked Huo Qingci to go to the kitchen and get two large dried red fish for them to take back.
There was give and take, and Lin Man didn't think they were being impolite.
