Chapter 79: Excited and Forgotten Time

Chapter 79: In Excitement, I Forgot the Time (Page 1/2)

Although the seafood here is really not expensive and they have enough money to buy fresh seafood, Lin Man just wants to get it for free and wants to go fishing herself.

Because she has space for so many ships, it always feels a bit wasteful if they are not used. She has space for large trawlers, yachts, propeller boats... The large ships are suitable for fishing, and the small ships are suitable for sea fishing.

Lin Man took Huo Qinghuan with them and they kept digging cat's eye snails, spider snails, razor clams, clams, and mantis shrimps on the mudflats, having a lot of fun.

Before they knew it, they had been digging for nearly three hours. Their buckets were almost half full of small seafood. Lin Man said, "Qinghuan, let's go back now. The tide will be high in an hour."

"Sister-in-law, look at those rocks over there. Aren't there a lot of fish in those little puddles? What are those people fishing for with their nets?"

There were a bunch of small shelled seafood in their buckets, but they didn't catch any fish or crabs. With so many people fishing in the small puddle, could there really be fish in the puddle?

Lin Man was a little tempted. She said, "Then let's go to the puddle now. You pour the snails into my bucket, and you can just carry the empty bucket."

"Okay, sister-in-law."

The two walked for about ten minutes before they reached a rocky beach. There were puddles of various sizes near the rocks, and the water level in the puddles was at least up to an adult's knees.

Lin Man was a little worried that Huo Qinghuan might fall into the water and be unable to get up, so she said:

"Qinghuan, don't come down. Just stay here and guard our bucket. I'll see if I can catch a couple of fish. We'll make fish soup tonight."

"Well, I'll come down when the water isn't so deep."

Lin Man saw someone fishing in the water with a net bag, and soon he caught a small skinned cow that was three fingers wide.

Today they happened to bring a small fishing net bag, which they had brought with them for most of the day but had not used yet. Now it came in handy.

After Lin Man settled Huo Qinghuan, she took the net bag and went into the water. Looking at the somewhat turbid sea water, she thought that the tide might rise again soon.

However, her eyesight was good and she could still see what was happening in the water. Suddenly, she saw a creature that looked like a water snake swimming towards her.

She was considering whether to throw a lightning ball over, but then she remembered that there were other people nearby. Water can conduct electricity, and it would be bad to hurt innocent people.

Without thinking, she used the net bag to catch the water snake-like creature. Why did she catch it? Because some water snakes can be used to make porridge!

Seeing that the creature was swimming very fast, Lin Man was quick-eyed and quick-handed. She scooped up the creature with a net and the thing went straight into the net.

Lin Man picked up the net bag and took a look, then laughed. It turned out that it was not a water snake but an eel. This was really a pleasant surprise. However, this eel was not big, probably only more than two kilograms.

Lin Man was holding a net bag and preparing to empty the eels into the bucket. Huo Qinghuan was shocked when she saw this. "Sister-in-law, why did you catch a water snake?"

"This is an eel, not a snake. Don't touch it with your hands. It has very sharp teeth and can bite. I'll go down and see if there's anything else in the puddle. I'll catch a couple more fish and make you fish soup tonight."

"Okay, I won't touch it. I'll just watch you guys catch the fish."

Lin Man went into the water again. After staring at the water surface for ten minutes without seeing any fish, she simply went to other small puddles, lifted up the rocks, and looked under them to see if there were any crabs or anything.

Who would have thought that she would see a large rock covered with densely packed small snails? Since she saw them, she had to pick them off. After picking the snails off, she continued to lift the rocks and actually encountered a crab.

She was wearing gloves now, and she bent down and grabbed the crab out of the water with her bare hands. She held the crab up and said to Huo Qinghuan on the shore, "Qinghuan, you have crabs to eat tonight."

"Wow! Sister-in-law, you are amazing!"

After Lin Man threw the crabs and spicy snails into the bucket, she went down and caught several small octopuses, four small skinned beef, and another two or three pounds of spicy snails.

Seeing that the sea water began to flood over their thighs, Lin Man estimated that the tide would soon rise. She secretly took out her watch from the space to check the time. It was already 5:10, and they had to leave.

"Qinghuan, let's go back quickly, your brother is about to get off work."

"Okay, let's go back and cook seafood."

This was their first time going to the beach. Although they picked up only small, worthless seafood, they were still a little too excited and even forgot the time.

By the time they brought the seafood back, it was almost six o'clock and Huo Qingci had already returned from get off work.

"Have you been playing at the beach all afternoon?" Huo Qingci looked at the two clay figures with a smile.

"Brother, look, we went out with two empty buckets, and when we came back, both buckets were almost full. That's a great harvest, right? Am I awesome?"

Huo Qingci looked at the small seafood in the bucket and said with a smile, "It's indeed a big harvest."

Huo Qinghuan was just waiting to be praised, but Huo Qingci said, "But they're not worth much. Eels and mud crabs are a bit more valuable, but they're too small. This eel is probably only a little over two kilograms, and the mud crab is less than three ounces."

Lin Man glared at Huo Qingci and said, "Humph, it doesn't cost any money, so why bother about whether it's cheap or expensive?"

Huo Qingci quickly added, "Manman is right. Picking up seafood for free is a good deal. Thank you for your hard work, Manman! I've already prepared the meal. Go take a shower first, and I'll take care of these small seafood."

Huo Qinghuan shook his head. His elder brother only knew how to bully him and changed his face in front of his elder sister-in-law. He must write a letter to tell his mother.

Lin Man went into the room to get clothes to take a shower. Huo Qingci looked at Huo Qinghuan and said, "You little mud monkey, why are you still standing here?"

"Brother, I want to ask you a question."

"What's the problem?"

"Brother, am I your biological brother?"

Huo Qingci laughed and said, "You are not, your mother picked it up in the public toilet."

Huo Qinghuan snorted coldly, "Humph, big brother has no humanity when it comes to the opposite sex, and he only knows how to bully me."

After saying that, she went back to her room with a cold face, ready to get her clothes out and take a shower.

After Lin Man finished taking a shower and washing clothes, Huo Qingci had also prepared the meal: braised eel, blanched mantis shrimp, and scrambled eggs with tomatoes.

Huo Qinghuan also finished his shower, took out the dishes from the cupboard, looked at the dishes on the table and asked, "Brother, why don't you cook that crab? And those clams, razor clams, and conchs..."

"Those need to be soaked in salt water overnight to make them spit out all the sand, and then eaten at noon tomorrow."

Lin Man agreed, "There's indeed a lot of sand in them. We have to let them spit out the sand before we eat them."

"Isn't there still a blue crab? Will it die tonight?"

"There's seawater in the bucket so it shouldn't be that easy to die. If it dies, we can catch it next time."

Huo Qinghuan didn't ask any more questions. He felt that the seafood made by his elder brother was much more delicious than the ones from the cafeteria. The seafood from the cafeteria had a fishy smell.

Fortunately, their kitchen was finally ready for cooking. Otherwise, if he continued to eat in the cafeteria, he would probably be starving to death within two months.

"Sister-in-law, are we still going tomorrow? There should be a low tide tomorrow."

"It's too sunny at noon. Next time we go to the beach at night, bring your brother along."

Huo Qingci smiled and nodded, saying, "Okay, I'll go with you next time. We'll go there after dinner at seven and come back at nine. I heard it's good for catching crabs at night."

"Oh, really? Then let's go tomorrow night! It's too sunny during the day. I feel like my arms will peel off if I stay in the sun for another two days."

"Next time I'll prepare sun protection sleeves for you so your arms won't get sunburned and peel."
