Chapter 221: Invisibly Suppressing Children (Page 1/2)
Song Jingjing was somewhat reluctant. She had finally come back and put her son in the last class because she didn't want her son to go to the same class with her eldest sister-in-law's twins, a boy and a girl. This way, her son would always be suppressed by them.
"Qingyan, I think we should forget it. Xinxin has a good memory and my sister-in-law has spent a lot of time training the children, so they can recite a lot of ancient poems.
Our Chenchen doesn't have any training, but he's smart and can write poems. Even though they're just doggerel, they're pretty good, right? After all, he's not even six yet."
Huo Qingyan retorted, "He's just making up a jingle, not even a doggerel. What about mooncakes being round, delicious, and free?"
If it doesn't cost money, is there anything I can pick up for mooncakes? If I have to make it up, I have to make it sound reasonable."
Huo Junshan was furious when he saw that his son did not encourage his grandson but even belittled him. "You are so good, Huo Qingyan! Chenchen can at least make up a couple of doggerel to suit the situation. Not only do you not praise him for his intelligence, but you also belittle your own son. What do you mean by that?
Since you are so talented, why don't you write some poems about the moon? "
Xiao Ya agreed, "Yeah, then you can also write a few poems with the moon in them. Chenchen is actually very smart, but no one taught him."
"Dad, Mom, you've already said everything. What else can I say?"
Huo Qingyan smiled awkwardly and said, "I don't think I can do it. I know my son is smart. He looks like me."
Huo Yiwen thought his second uncle was a bit cheeky, so he also composed a poem with the moon in it, "On the fifteenth day of the eighth month, the moon is full, the whole family enjoys the moon together, my cousin is excited and writes a poem, my second uncle boasts that he doesn't need to..."
When Huo Yiwen said the last word, he suddenly paused. Lin Man covered his mouth with her hand and scolded him softly, "Wenwen, little boy, you should be polite."
Huo Yiwen blinked and smiled, "Mom, I didn't scold my second uncle. The last sentence was that my second uncle boasted that he didn't want money. Mom, did you misunderstand me?"
Lin Man thought, doesn’t this guy want to say that Huo Qingyan is shameless?
She had a puzzled look on her face, but still chose to believe her child.
Thinking of this, Lin Man released the hand covering Huo Yiwen's mouth and gently touched his head, "Little boy, you must learn to respect your elders and be polite."
At the same time, she also gave Huo Qingyan an apologetic look, hoping to resolve this little misunderstanding.
Huo Qingyan waved to Huo Yiwen, "Wenwen, come here."
Huo Yiwen ran up to Huo Qingyan and whispered, "Second Uncle."
Huo Qingyan pinched Huo Yiwen's cheek and said with a smile, "Good boy, were you trying to insult your uncle just now?"
"No, absolutely not?" Huo Yiwen shook his head repeatedly.
"No? Then praise your uncle a few words, use poetry to praise him!"
Huo Yiwen thought for a moment and then praised earnestly, "I wish the spirit of a gentleman could be spread out and planted like green pines."
Huo Qingyan looked puzzled, "What do you mean?"
Huo Qinghuan laughed heartily. "Second brother, these two lines of poetry mean: I hope to have the bearing of a gentleman, like a green pine, always standing upright in any place. Wen Wen is praising you for your bearing of a gentleman."
Huo Qingyan asked Huo Yiwen, "Wenwen also thinks that Second Uncle Prime Minister is very magnanimous, right? Then use the poem with the moon in it to praise Second Uncle."
Huo Yiwen thought for a moment and continued, "You are like the moon in the sky, unwilling to shine once. Second Uncle, can I go back and eat mooncakes?"
"Good boy, you understand what your uncle said. You are comparing your uncle to the moon."
Huo Yiwen pursed his lips and smiled, continuing to flatter him, "Second Uncle, you stand like a delicate orchid and a jade tree, and your smile is like the bright moon in your arms. You rustle like the wind under the pines, and shine like the moon in the forest..."
Huo Qingyan laughed heartily at the string of flattery. "Wenwen is amazing. You're so good at praising people. Second uncle wants to reward you. Whatever you want, second uncle will buy it for you."

"Uncle, you really need to reward me! I want to touch the plane. Can you take me to see it?"
Huo Qingyan was a little hesitant. Of course he couldn't take his nephew to see airplanes, but he could give him a model airplane toy.
"Wenwen, Uncle Er will give you a toy airplane when the time comes."
As soon as Huo Qingyan expressed his opinion, Huo Yingzi became unhappy and started to make a fuss: "Daddy, I want a toy too. I can also praise you with the moon."
"Then you praise it?"
Huo Yingzi remembered her cousin saying that the moon was big and round tonight, so she said, "The moon is big and round... big and round..."
I kept repeating this sentence over and over again, and I couldn't continue writing halfway through.
Huo Qingyan asked her, "Then what? The moon is big and round, what does it have to do with dad?"
Huo Yixin came over and added with a smile: "The moon is big and round, and my second uncle is big and strong."
Huo Yingzi clapped her hands and said, "Dad is big and strong."
"Hehe..." Huo Qingyan chuckled, looked at his daughter and then at his son, "Huo Yichen, praise me too, and Dad will buy you a toy plane too."
Huo Yichen thought for a moment, then continued his sister's words: "The moon is big and round, but my dad has no money in his pocket."
"What? What do you mean I don't have any money in my pocket? I want you to praise me with poetry, not curse me. Fortunately, today is Mid-Autumn Festival, not Chinese New Year. You kid, you are not as good as your sister."
Lin Man on the side was trying to hold back her laughter. Huo Yichen was really good at tricking his father!
When Song Jingjing heard Huo Qingyan say this about her son, she retorted unhappily, "How is Chenchen inferior to Zizi? Our Chenchen is the most filial. He even peeled tangerines for me just now."
Huo Qingyan knew that his daughter-in-law favored her son, so to avoid arguments, he did not refute her.
Seeing his wife eating oranges non-stop, he said, "These green-skinned oranges are not very sweet, eat less."
"I want to eat something sour right now. I don't like sweet things."
Lin Man glanced at Song Jingjing and saw her sitting at the table with her son in her arms. There were orange peels all over the floor. It looked like she had eaten six or seven oranges without worrying about getting a sore throat.
After sitting for a while, Huo Qingci looked at his watch, then suddenly stood up and said, "It's getting late, let's go back first."
When Huo Qingyan saw that his eldest brother was about to leave, he hurriedly stood up as well. Although he lived close to his parents' house and it only took eight or nine minutes to walk there, his children had not taken a bath yet. He wanted to go back early to help them take a bath and rest early.
Lin Man also quickly got up, went to the backyard to wash her hands, and prepared to go home. Seeing this, Huo Qinghuan hurriedly handed her the bag of seeds on the cabinet.
"Sister-in-law, don't forget these seeds."
"Okay, I'll go back and find a flowerpot to try and see if I can grow it."
Huo Qingci walked over to Lin Man and stared at the bag in her hand. "What do you want to plant?"
"Qinghuan collected fruit seeds in southern Yunnan. He said I was good at growing fruit trees and wanted me to give it a try."
Huo Qingci smiled and said softly, "Qinghuan, southern Yunnan is a place where it's spring all year round, but the climate here in Beijing is very different from that over there.
So, even if these seeds can be successfully grown into seedlings, they may not necessarily bear fruit when they grow up."
Huo Qinghuan nodded gently, showing his understanding, and continued, "Of course I understand this. Even if I really planted it, it might not produce any fruit.
But, I just want to give it a try. If you can help me grow these fruit tree seedlings, planting them in our courtyard as ornamental plants would be a very good choice."
