Chapter 223 Vivian

Chapter 223 Vivian

"Let's dry some firewood, set up a pot in the yard tomorrow, and raise two ducks in the pond out back. When they're fat, we'll stew them in the pot. It's bound to be delicious."

Shaking the bunch of wild flowers and weeds I had picked, I made sure they were all exposed to the sun.

After arranging it, Zhao Zhaodi stood up with her hands on her waist, and with her hands behind her back, she slowly admired her masterpiece, feeling quite satisfied.

Stroking my chin, I wondered if it was more cost-effective to raise two ducks or two chickens.

A roar of a car came from behind.

Zhao Zhaodi suddenly had an idea, stamped her feet and clapped her hands excitedly, her eyebrows were full of joy,

"No! This is Hong Kong. No one cares how many chickens and ducks I raise!"

"Oh my, the yard is so big, I can raise at least twenty ducks! And there's a pond in the back, I can raise another twenty ducks. Oh my, I'm rich!"

Ye Lin didn't know that his aunt wanted to convert their home into a breeding farm.

He glanced through the car window at the "dry firewood" on the ground, sighed helplessly, but didn't say anything.

Just pull them out, it doesn’t matter if there are only a few flowers.

Ask Ah Hui to stop the car temporarily, and he will go down to see his aunt.

"Brother Lin, I want to go too."

After getting out of the car, Ye Lin paused and looked back at Ye Xiulan's face. He didn't have the heart to tell her how smelly she was. "You should go back to the room and clean yourself up first. Remember to put more shower gel on."

Ignoring her clamor, Ye Lin told Ah Hui to take Ye Xiulan to the lobby, then got out of the car alone.

Zhao Zhaodi was sitting on the stone bench in the pavilion, cleaning the dirt out of her shoes. Seeing her nephew get out of the white car opposite, she quickly waved her paws, which were covered in yellow mud.

Smiling like a flower, she shouted loudly,

"I'm back now. Come and sit down. I have something to discuss with you."

Seeing how excited she was, Ye Lin had a bad feeling in his heart. His aunt was probably eyeing this flower garden.

Sure enough, as soon as Ye Lin put his suit jacket on the stone bench, Zhao Zhaodi started talking about her grand ambitions.

"Lin, your yard is just sitting there anyway, why not plant some cucumbers, potatoes, and cabbage? Look, I've been digging holes all afternoon, and all I need is seeds."

Ye Lin looked in the direction she pointed, and saw that not only the pit but even the drainage ditch had been dug.

"And the pond out back, I see a lot of fish in it. They're fatter than rabbits. Many of these colorful, plump fish don't look like they're edible, so they're perfect for feeding ducks."

That makes sense. Apart from the fish in the pond at the back, there are a few koi with excellent pedigree and appearance, each worth around HK$10,000.

Apart from this, there is no problem in feeding it to ducks.

Zhao Zhaodi became more and more excited as she spoke, "And your house is built in such a weird shape, you can definitely grow some loofahs or beans on it without even using vines."

"Raising pigs might be a bit smelly and affect your image, but if you can raise a flock of chickens, you can kill some chickens to entertain your company's clients when they come to your house."

"Look at this family of more than 20 people. How much does it cost to buy vegetables in a day? Let's grow some vegetables ourselves. They are cheaper and fresher. Don't waste money all the time."

"And the toilet, where did it all go? If you have time, please help me find where the toilet is connected. I need fertilizer for growing vegetables, and..."

The more she talked, the more outrageous it became. Ye Lin was afraid that if he didn't stop her, his aunt would ask him to pick up manure.

Hastily interrupting Zhao Zhaodi's fantasy of a better life,

Make a stop gesture with both hands.

"Aunt, stop, stop."

"You want to farm? Fine. There's a forest in front of you. You can do whatever you want with it."

"It's okay to raise chickens, but you have to build a chicken coop to keep them contained and prevent them from running around. Forget about the ducks, but I have to keep the fish in the pond out back."

"Uncle Fu has the fertilizer you want. It's in the utility room in the side building. Ask him to find it for you."

Zhao Zhaodi got a satisfactory answer, and hummed a tuneless little song while strolling back to the main building with Ye Lin.

I wondered where to buy chicks in Hong Kong.

Dining room,

After changing her clothes, Ye Xiulan is playing three roles and telling everyone about her adventures of the day.

Sometimes he lay on the ground, sometimes he climbed onto the table, his performance was so lifelike.

No one noticed the two people coming in through the door.

Ye Lin walked over the broom on the ground as a prop with his pointed leather shoes and turned to go upstairs. Ye Xiulan's exaggerated praise, coupled with the audience's chattering, mixed with dialects, Mandarin, Cantonese and English, sounded like the quacking of a hundred ducks.

He hurried upstairs to hide calmly.

After reading documents for a whole day, Ye Lin felt his eyes were a little dry. He pressed his eyebrows down, blinked the dry corners of his eyes, half closed his eyes, and walked to the door of his room relying on the feel of his feet. When he turned the doorknob, the tightly closed study door at the end of the corridor suddenly opened outwards.

Ye Lin suddenly stopped opening the door and looked towards the study.

Vivian, dressed in a black housekeeper outfit, came out of the study carrying a bucket. A damp dark orange rag was placed beside the bucket. It looked like she had just cleaned the place.

When she ran into Ye Lin outside, Vivian was only slightly surprised, then she regained her composure and slowly closed the study door.

He walked lightly, stopped when he was more than one meter away from Ye Lin, bent down and performed a standard Western etiquette, which was elegant yet a little old-fashioned.

"Master is back. Madam Rebecca called just now. Please remember to call back."

After saying that, Vivian bowed again, indicating that she was about to leave.

Seeing Vivian struggling to carry the bucket, Ye Lin called her to stop.

"Wait a moment."

Throwing the coat in his hand into the bedroom, Ye Lin caught up with Vivian and took the bucket from her.

The thing is not heavy, but Vivian is old and her health is not as good as before, especially in the past two years. She has to gasp for breath after walking a few more steps.

"Auntie Wei, let Xiaoyue and the others do these chores. Whatever you do, don't be unwilling to accept your age. Don't do any heavy work in the future."

Ye Lin looked at Vivian with some concern.

Vivian was his mother Irene's personal maid. After Irene passed away, Vivian stayed by his side to take care of him.

Vivian didn't care about her body. Seeing Ye Lin carrying a dirty bucket, she said it was against the rules.

"Master, put it down quickly. How can you touch these things? I know what I am doing. I won't do anything that I can't do."

Ye Lin didn't let go. Vivian tried, but ultimately didn't dare to snatch it away. How could a servant snatch something from the master's hands?

The strict class concept of the aristocracy deeply restricted the thinking of this middle-aged Western woman.

He helped Vivian carry the bucket all the way back to the cleaning room. Vivian refused to let Ye Lin go into the servants' room and stubbornly carried the bucket in by herself.

Looking at her staggering back,

"Aunt Wei, why don't you go back to Italy? I don't need anyone to take care of me anymore."

Vivian's figure froze for a moment, and the bucket fell to the floor from her hand. The dirty water slowly soaked her and Ye Lin's feet. She looked back at Ye Lin with shock and loss, her light blue pupils shrinking slightly.

But after saying this in his mind, Ye Lin realized that what he said was not right, and quickly tried to make amends for himself.

"Aunt Wei, I'm not trying to drive you away. What I mean is that you've been with Mother and me for so many years. You've dedicated most of your life to the Fairburn family. There's no need for you to spend the rest of your life with me."

"Before she passed away, Mother told me that the Fairburn family would cover all your expenses until she passed away. As long as I'm alive, you don't have to worry about that."

"Besides, your family is in Italy. Don't you want to go back?"
