Chapter 273 Let’s Go Home

Chapter 273 Let’s Go Home

The sunlight filtered into the room through the thin curtains. Xavier stretched out on the bed, rubbed his dry eyes, and his wandering thoughts gradually came back to life.

He seemed to have brought someone back to stay last night? A brother who showed up in the middle of the night!

Xavier's confused eyes suddenly widened, and he woke up instantly.

He pulled back the quilt and looked at the iron bed opposite. There was a nest made of clothes on the bed. The clothes were still there, but the person was gone.

Xavier muttered to himself, "Where are the people?"

Just as he was about to go out to look for someone, the old wooden door was slowly pushed open from the outside, making a slight creaking sound.

"Awake." A hint of surprise flashed across Ye Lin's eyes, and then he casually opened the door and strode into the house. "Are you hungry? Get up, I'll take you to eat."

Xavier's eyes flickered and he said dryly, "Oh."

He scratched his messy hair, glanced at Ye Lin secretly, and then ran out of the room with the washbasin in his arms as if escaping for his life.

After a night's sleep, the excitement of recognizing his relatives last night faded a little. He felt uncomfortable looking at Ye Lin now and just wanted to find an open space to hide away.

No matter how much he procrastinates, he only has two rows of teeth. He brushes his teeth up and down more than ten times while standing by the sink. When it's time to go back, he has to go back.

He threw the toothbrush back into the toothbrush holder dejectedly. The toothbrush already had half of its bristles left, and after being tossed around by him, three more bristles fell off.

Xavier returned to the room at a snail's pace, holding the washbasin. He glanced at Ye Lin who was leaning against the wall, lowered his head awkwardly, not knowing what to say to him.

Pretending not to notice his discomfort, Ye Lin put on his coat and walked out: "I'll wait for you in the corridor. I'll come out when I'm done."

Twenty minutes later,

Xavier looked at Ye Lin with a look of astonishment: "Do you really want to eat here?"

Ye Lin nodded and said, "Well, what's wrong? Is there something wrong with the food here?"

The car ran out of gas last night, so we had to eat somewhere nearby.

There were no decent restaurants in this area, so the two walked down a street and crossed an intersection, where they came across a street stall owned by a middle-aged couple. The lazy Young Master Ye said he would not walk any further and pulled Xavier to sit down and start eating.

Xavier curled his lips, looked around the humble street stall, and then looked at the noble young master sitting on the greasy wooden stool opposite. He felt like he was rolling in the mud with a beautiful flower.

"There's nothing wrong with the meal, I think there's something wrong with you."

Xavier was afraid that the boss would hear him, so he pulled his small wooden stool forward and continued in a low voice, "Do you really want to eat at a street stall? Don't you rich people only eat at high-end restaurants? The kind with Michelin stars?"

Last night, Xavier woke up in the middle of the night and saw Ye Lin lying on the bed without even a mattress. He felt a little bad for him and decided to treat him to a good meal in the morning.

He deliberately took most of his fortune with him before leaving the house, but it turned out that his stepbrother was too weak and couldn't even walk three blocks.

Ye Lin picked up two decent looking spoons from the small basket on the table, took out a silk scarf and carefully wiped the edges of the spoons. He smiled when he heard Xavier's question, "Really? I didn't eat much last night and I was starving. I don't care if he's rich or poor. If you starve the world's richest man for a few days, he'll eat a piece of tree bark. If he doesn't eat, he's not hungry."

Seeing that Ye Lin really didn't mind the poor environment here, Xavier felt an inexplicable sense of relief in his heart. He suddenly felt that this person didn't seem that far away from him. He just had some money, but he was still quite down-to-earth.

Soon, Xavier overturned this idea.

His cheap brother must be mentally ill. The last person who made him speechless was his new deskmate Daniel.

"Why did you give him a hundred dollars? Are you crazy?" Xavier looked at Ye Lin angrily. Coupled with the muffled laughter of the stall owner hiding in the distance, Xavier felt so distressed that he wanted to jump up and down.

Ye Lin blinked innocently and showed him his wallet, which was empty. "I only have one hundred yuan in cash. I can't write a check."

Xavier was mad: "Didn't you say it was my treat? And why didn't you give him the change?!"

"How can I let you pay? As for the change, I don't want to carry a bunch of change in my pocket. It's useless and a burden."

Xavier took a deep breath, pinched his thigh, and silently said in his heart: Don't curse, don't curse.

But he really couldn't stand it any longer, he slammed the table, and counted with his fingers to settle the bill with Ye Lin: "This meal costs 300 lire, one US dollar can be exchanged for 800 lire, you gave the boss 100 US dollars, which means you paid 80,000 lire for this meal, my dear brother! 300 and you gave 80,000! I really am, you..."

The more he calculated, the angrier he became. Xavier jumped up from the stool, circled around Ye Lin, and talked non-stop.

Ye Lin didn't say anything else. He just sat on the stool and listened to Xavier scolding him with a smile on his face, nodding from time to time to support him.

Xavier's mouth was dry when he spoke, so he sat down and drank some water, then he suddenly realized what he had just done.

He was really dizzy just now and actually scolded this person.

He cleared his throat and drank a few sips of water to cover up his embarrassment. His eyes wandered around, observing whether Ye Lin was angry.

Ye Lin was listening with great interest. Seeing Xavier suddenly stop, he jokingly said, "Why are you done? I think the money is well spent. You even call me brother."

"I was just angry." Xavier glared at Ye Lin.

"Don't be angry, money is meant to be spent. Our family lacks everything except money." Ye Lin picked up his coat and waved to Xavier, "Let's go. I'll go back and drive you to school."

Xavier's eyes lit up. This was the first time someone sent him to school. He instantly forgot about the $100 breakfast.

He quickly ran two steps to catch up with Ye Lin, with a rare hint of joy in his tone.

"Didn't your car run out of gas last night? This place is far from the gas station."

"Yeah, so I called the housekeeper this morning to get gas."

Xavier...it turns out that oil can be added this way.

The silver sports car stopped at an intersection away from Union School.

Xavier was not mentally prepared and didn't want to be questioned by his classmates, so he asked Ye Lin to leave him here.

Before getting off the car, Ye Lin told him: "Come out after school this afternoon, I'll bring you some daily necessities."

Xavier's movement to get out of the car suddenly stopped. After a few seconds, he opened the car door slightly stiffly, lowered his head and uttered a sound through his nose: "Hmm."

Ye Lin sat in the car and watched Xavier walk towards the school. He watched him carefully dodge the playful students, and saw his thin back leaning against the street, a little stiff. His eyes changed slightly, as if he suddenly remembered something. He unbuckled his seat belt, got out of the car and caught up with Xavier: "Xavier!"

"Huh? What's wrong?" Xavier turned around in confusion, a little surprised why Ye Lin caught up with him.

"I forgot to tell you something."

Let go of Xavier's hand,

Ye Lin stood straight across from Xavier, his eyes sharp. His handsome mixed-race features, when not smiling, gave him a cold aura. His expression was rarely so serious. He said in a deep voice,

"Xavier, I want you to remember one thing. We are from the Fairburn family, one of Italy's top financial groups. You and I were born into nobility. I don't care what your past was like."

"From now on, you're Xavier Fairburn. Under the protection of this surname, you can live your life freely and unrestrainedly. You can experience fighting, racing, and squandering money. Even if you poke the sky down, I'll be there to clean it up for you."

"Your life is meant to be bold. There's nothing to be afraid of in this world. Do you understand?"

Xavier understood what Ye Lin meant. In the past, he always kept to himself. Not only did he not want people to talk about him being an orphan, but he also had no parents and couldn't afford to offend children with parents.

No one would ever speak up for him. Even if it was someone else's fault at school, the teacher would just put all the blame on him since he had no parents to supervise him in order to keep the peace.

Over time, he began to use dodging to solve everything. He did not provoke anyone and lived cautiously in his own space, thinking that this would protect himself.

But today someone told him that he could live like those children with parents, and even go to fight, because he had parents backing him up just like everyone else.

He is no longer the untaught wild child that others say he is.

"I..." Xavier's eyes were red, his voice was hoarse, and the veins in his neck were raised. It seemed that he had used up all his strength to say the following words.

Unable to hold back the grievances in his heart any longer, Xavier threw himself into Ye Lin's arms, making a fuss in the arms of his family like a child, venting the grievances he had suffered over the years: "Brother, I want to go home, I want my home! I don't want to be a wild child..."

"Okay, let's go home. We don't have school today. Let's go home and let brother take Xavier home."

Ye Lin hugged the crying child tightly in his arms and coaxed Xavier over and over again without getting tired of it.
