Chapter 24 Birthday
"I was just kidding," Wen Eryu said, throwing up her hands. "We're not even adults yet, how can we possibly get married?"
Shen Jize's eyes darkened and he said, "In another week I will be an adult."
Wen Eryu was a little surprised, but she quickly remembered that in her previous life, Chen Jize was indeed one year older than her, but this didn't make sense, as she and he were in the same class.
Shen Jize picked up the pen from the ground and said nonchalantly, "I took a leave of absence during my freshman year of high school."
"..." Wen Eryu was silent for a moment and then smiled, "Since you are older than me, should I call you brother?"
"Ahem." Shen Jize choked on his own saliva, his face turning red at a visible speed. "Wen Eryu, don't yell at people."
Wen Eryu covered her mouth and laughed secretly. She didn't expect that Shen Jize, who was usually so cold, would be so easily teased!
"Stop laughing. Do you know how to solve the problem?" Shen Jize tried to bring the topic back.
"Oh oh oh." Wen Eryu put away her smile and focused her eyes on the exercise book.
Suddenly, an exquisite red velvet box appeared in front of her.
"As I said before, I'll give you another one." Shen Jize said, "Now I have time to give it to you."
Wen Eryu took it, but this time she didn't open it. Instead, she carefully put the box into the pocket of her school uniform.
Shen Jize frowned and said, "Don't you like it?"
She shook her head. "No, I'm afraid it will be snatched away again like last time."
Before Wen Eryu could finish her words, the classroom door opened and Li Wei walked in from outside.
"Chen Jize, you are here. I have been looking for you for a long time." He said breathlessly.
Li Wei didn't expect Wen Eryu to be there too, so he immediately swallowed back the dirty words on his lips. The next second, he looked at the two of them with subtle eyes.
"What are you doing—" he said in a long voice.
"I'm explaining math problems to her." Shen Jize stood up and said, "What's going on?"
But Li Wei didn't believe it at all. He had already imagined something in his mind.
"Oh, I was planning to ask you to play ball."
"Next time." Shen Jize refused.
The expression on his face seemed to say something rather tactless.
Wen Eryu immediately interrupted him: "No, you guys go ahead and play. Anyway, you gave me the solution. I'll get it when I go back and look at it."
After saying that, she picked up her exercise book and ran to the door.
"Bye." Wen Eryu turned around and waved at him.
After Li Wei saw everyone leave, he walked to Shen Jize's side.
"What were you doing here just now?" he asked curiously.
But after waiting for a long time, there was no answer from Shen Jize. It turned out that his eyes were still on the direction where Wen Eryu had just left.
"Talk about the topic."
"Are you really discussing a topic or are you on a date?"
Shen Jize nudged his chest with his elbow: "What's going on in your head?"
Li Wei scratched his head and raised his eyebrows. "What else could it be? Of course it's something colorful."
"Go away." Shen Jize walked out of the classroom, "Let's go play ball."

In April, when spring came, all the dead trees on campus sprouted tender green buds and unknown small yellow flowers.
Wen Eryu received a call from Song Bowen as soon as she returned home.
"Eryu, are you free this Saturday?"
"What's wrong, Brother Bo Wen?" Wen Eryu asked.
Song Bowen paused for a moment on the other end of the phone and said, "I'm leaving H City."
"Why so sudden?" Wen Eryu asked, "Why?"
Song Bowen: "A big shot in the art world wants to train me. This Saturday is my solo piano concert. I'd like to invite you to attend and meet you by the way. I'm going abroad after the concert."
"But..." Wen Eryu hesitated, because this Saturday was Shen Jize's birthday.
Song Bowen heard her confusion and said with a smile, "Did you have something to do that day?"
"Yes."
"But I want to see you one last time before I leave H City." Song Bowen took a deep breath, his tone pleading, "Is that okay?"
There was a long silence. After some inner struggle, Wen Eryu finally accepted Song Bowen's invitation.

On the day of the piano concert, Wen Eryu wore a formal suit, put on some simple makeup, and came to the H City Grand Theater.
She stood at the entrance holding the VIP ticket.
There were many people in front of the Grand Theater who came to listen to Song Bowen's piano concert, but most of them were very well-mannered and lined up in an orderly manner.
Wen Eryu touched the items in the small bag and looked at the time anxiously.
7:30 in the evening.
The piano concert will end at half past nine, a full two hours. When it is over, she will rush over to find Shen Jize and give him the birthday present.
After entering the venue, Wen Eryu found his seat, in the middle of the first row, where he could watch the performers up close.
The theater, which was noisy just a second ago, suddenly became quiet.
Song Bowen, wearing a high-end tuxedo, walked out from behind the scenes. He bowed to the audience and then sat down.
The white and slender fingers began to jump on the black and white keys, very noble and elegant.
Wen Eryu listened while looking at his watch.
When she looked up, she happened to meet Song Bowen's eyes on the stage.
This scene happened to be captured by the staff.
He edited the copy, placed the picture at the top, and posted it on VB to promote the piano concert and raise Song Bowen's profile in the music industry.
In just a few minutes, this post received over 10,000 likes, with the top comment being:
[Help! This girl is so beautiful! Song Bowen's eyes are so piercing when he looks at her! Is this something I can handle? /nosebleed nosebleed/starry eyes/]
However, Wen Eryu didn't know all this. What she was thinking was that the piano session would end quickly.
Two hours later, she was invited to the lounge.
Song Bowen was sitting on the sofa, browsing VB. When he saw Wen Eryu come in, he quickly turned off his phone, with the same smile on his face that never changed.
"You're here."
Wen Eryu was a little reserved, not knowing where to look: "Brother Bo Wen."
"Sit down for a while." He smiled gently.
"No, no, I have something to do later, so I won't stay long." Wen Eryu said, "Congratulations, Brother Bo Wen, you have finally achieved what you have today. I have always believed that you will definitely be able to excel in music."
Song Bowen lowered his head and chuckled softly: "After I leave today, it may take three or four years for me to come back."
Wen Eryu looked up at him.
"So...did you miss me during the years I was away?"
"I..." Wen Eryu was stunned. Why did she feel that Song Bowen was different from usual?
His eyes changed. Before, he looked at Wen Eryu as if she were his sister, but now it seemed as if he could no longer hide the love in his heart, and his eyes were full of naked temptation.
She avoided his gaze and said, "You took care of me like an older brother. Of course I will miss you."
Song Bowen smiled bitterly: "But that's not what I think."
Wen Eryu looked at her watch. It was almost time, so she walked towards the door.
"Brother Bo Wen, I'll see you next time you come back. I'm leaving now." Wen Eryu said, "I'll treat you to dinner then."
Song Bowen still didn't say what was in his mind. He quickly composed himself and said with deep eyes, "Okay."

When Wen Eryu came out of the Grand Theater, there were many people around her trying to get a taxi, and she didn't know when it would be her turn.
She finally borrowed a bicycle and immediately rode towards Shen Jize's house.
When they were almost downstairs of his house, Wen Eryu called him, but there was no answer.
After parking her bike, she went upstairs and knocked on the door.
"Chen Jize, are you home?"
There was a slight sound of footsteps from inside, and soon the door was opened.
Dada was barefoot, and when he saw that it was Wen Eryu, his little eyes lit up.
"Sister Wen! You haven't come to play with me for a long time."
Wen Eryu bent down and touched Dada's head, saying softly, "Long time no see, Dada. Is your brother home?"
Dada shook his head: "He just went out."
"Out?"
"Hmm." Dada thought for a moment, then leaned over to Wen Eryu's ear and whispered, "I feel like my brother is in a bad mood today."
Wen Eryu immediately understood why Shen Jize didn't answer her call.
"Where did he go?"
Dada said: "My brother should be in the community. Whenever he is in a bad mood, he will go to the slide."
Wen Eryu said, "Sister has something to do with him now. Remember to lock the door when you are home alone."
Dada nodded obediently.
Although it was spring, the temperature at night was still a little chilly. Wen Eryu walked to the slide shivering.
But she didn't see Shen Jize.
She wandered around and finally found him on a bench.
Wen Eryu saw a flickering spot of scarlet on his lips under the dim street light. The next second, he raised his eyes and looked over here.
"Are you here?" Shen Jize's voice was hoarse.
His current appearance is so similar to Shen Jize in his previous life.
Wen Eryu pursed her lips nervously as she walked over and saw cigarette butts scattered around his feet. She frowned unhappily.
"Why do you smoke so much?"
Shen Ji Ze glanced at her, took another puff of his cigarette, then stubbed it out, threw it on the ground and stomped on it a few times.
"Are you concerned about me?" Shen Jize sneered and said to himself, "Who are you to me?"
His attitude took a sharp turn for the worse today, and his cold voice made Wen Eryu feel a little aggrieved.
She thought Shen Jize was angry, so she explained softly, "...I didn't forget your birthday."
He stood up and approached her, saying with a hint of anger: "I don't give a damn if you come or not, just go away."
After Shen Jize said this, he turned and left. Wen Eryu immediately followed him and grabbed the corner of his clothes.
But the next second, the young man grabbed her wrist and threw her into Shen Jize's arms.
“Hmm…”
"Why do you want to see him?" Shen Jize tried hard to control his emotions, but his heart was already sore. He said in a deep voice, "Speak."
Wen Eryu was frightened by his appearance, and tears gradually soaked his chest.
Shen Ji Ze was in a trance for a moment, then let go of her: "Don't come to me, I'm not worthy of your love."
Wen Eryu stopped sobbing, wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes with the back of her hand, then took out a gift box from her bag and stuffed it into his hand without saying a word.
"I understand. I won't bother you anymore." Wen Eryu said with a sob, "Also, happy birthday."
After saying that, she left the community without looking back.
The cold wind blew on Shen Jize's face, and his heart ached as he watched the girl's back as she walked away.
He reopened his phone, and the interface was still stuck on the VB of Song Bowen's piano concert. He stared at the large picture, his back teeth almost breaking.
"I really lost to you."
