Chapter 198: The Daughter’s Burden

Chapter 198: The Daughter’s Burden

Zhang Zhiya came back after washing the fruit.

She didn't know about the conversation between Jiang Yue and Song Lehan just now, and still greeted Jiang Yue warmly, asking him to eat more fruit.

Even if she disliked Jiang Yue, she could only be nicer to him since her daughter liked him.

At least, Jiang Yue can treat Song Lehan better because of her good qualities.

"Mom, how is my dad doing recently?" Song Lehan really cared about Song Jianguo.

Although the doctor had just checked and told her that everything was fine, there were many details that the doctor could not tell her.

Zhang Zhiya glanced at Song Jianguo lying on the hospital bed. She had noticed a tear at the corner of his eye. Although she was puzzled, she didn't think much of it and simply wiped it away.

"Your dad is still the same. He's just lying here, completely motionless. Apart from breathing, he's not responding at all."

Song Lehan: "That's good. As long as it doesn't get worse, that's good."

"That's true, but if he keeps staying like this, I don't know if he'll ever wake up again." Zhang Zhiya's eyebrows etched with sadness as she spoke. "I've been taking care of him year after year, and I'm getting old. In a few years, I won't be able to look after him anymore."

"If he gets sick again, I might leave before I even see him wake up."

Song Lehan's face fell unhappily, "Mom, how can you say such things? Hurry up and say it."

"Oh, what's the big deal? I'm telling the truth." Zhang Zhiya was very calm about death. "If I die, you don't have to worry about your father anymore. It's just right that we're together, so I'll have company."

Zhang Zhiya spoke very optimistically, but Song Lehan felt very sad when he heard it.

She didn't want her parents to leave her like this.

But she also knew that this was inevitable.

Sooner or later, her parents will pass away and she will grow old.

"Mom, take care of yourself. Don't think about this all the time." Song Lehan took a deep breath and tried to speak of the future in a better way. "Who knows, one day my dad might wake up. Then, our family of three can live together again."

Zhang Zhiya laughed it off, and the topic was completely over.

After chatting for a while, Jiang Yue felt that he had stayed long enough, so without giving Song Lehan any hint, he directly suggested leaving.

"It's getting late. Lele has an announcement tonight, and I have to take her there." Jiang Yue pulled Song Lehan's arm, then looked at Zhang Zhiya with a smile, politely and well-behaved: "Auntie, let's stop here for now. We'll come back to accompany you and uncle another day when Lele has time."

When Zhang Zhiya heard that Song Lehan had a job, her reluctant expression immediately disappeared, and she immediately urged them: "Okay, then hurry over and don't delay work."

"It's fine with us whether you come or not. If you're busy with work, don't come. Take good care of yourself and eat more."

Zhang Zhiya gave the final instructions.

Song Lehan lowered his head, looking reluctant.

At the door of the ward, Song Lehan took the initiative to hug Zhang Zhiya and said, "Mom, take good care of yourself. Don't think too much all day long. Everything will be fine."

"Yeah, Mom knows." Zhang Zhiya patted Song Lehan on the back and nodded in response.

Song Lehan let go of Zhang Zhiya and said reluctantly, "Mom, I'll leave first."

"Okay, let's go. Mom won't see you off." Zhang Zhiya stood at the door of the ward and watched the two figures completely disappear before turning around.

After such a hug, she felt a little reluctant to let go.

Zhang Zhiya wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes and returned to the ward. Just as she sat down and was about to chat with Song Jianguo, she saw a hairpin dropped under the bed.

This should be Lele's.

Zhang Zhiya picked it up and didn't want to give it to him at first, but when she saw the shiny little beads on it, she thought it must be quite expensive. After thinking about it, she got up and chased after him.

At the elevator door.

Song Lehan and Jiang Yue stood side by side, waiting for the elevator to reach the floor.

"Are you in a good relationship with your mother?" Bored, Jiang Yue began to inquire about the relationship between Song Lehan and his family.

Song Lehan didn't want to reveal too much, so he just said "hmm" lightly.

"That's right. If your relationship wasn't so good, you wouldn't be so easily manipulated by me." Jiang Yue felt that he had just asked a nonsense question. "If you had a bad relationship with your parents, and I still used them to threaten you like I do now, would you definitely listen to me?"

Song Lehan lowered his head and pursed his lips, "I don't know."

"I guess you will never be as obedient as you are now." Jiang Yue said with certainty.

With a "ding" sound, the elevator arrived.

As soon as the door was half open, Song Lehan couldn't wait to lift his foot and walked sideways into the elevator.

Seeing her like this, Jiang Yue lowered his gaze and followed her in.

The elevator door slowly closed and then went down.

Not far away, Zhang Zhiya, who was hiding behind the wall, slowly lowered her head, and the hairpin in her hand fell from her palm.

She heard everything that was said just now.

Zhang Zhiya always thought that Jiang Yue was a good man and would be nice to her daughter.

After all, he would come here to visit her and Song Jianguo from time to time, and he would bring a lot of things every time he came.

She thought she had misjudged him. Jiang Yue might not look good, but he was impeccable at doing things.

Wrong.

All wrong.

Zhang Zhiya was not wrong.

Jiang Yue is a bad person. He uses them to force his own daughter to do things she doesn't like.

Zhang Zhiya never thought that one day, she and Song Jianguo would become a burden to their daughter.

She clearly wanted to do good for her daughter, but was taken advantage of by Jiang Yue.

Jiang Yue is not with Song Lehan, they are not a couple.

Realizing this, Zhang Zhiya quickly realized that Jiang Yue was forcing Song Lehan to be with him.

No wonder, when leaving, Song Lehan changed his normal behavior and hugged himself.

So, it turns out...

Zhang Zhiya came to her senses, bent down and picked up the hairpin.

Old Song, we can't delay our daughter.

Thinking of this, Zhang Zhiya turned around and walked back to the ward mechanically.

Sitting next to Song Jianguo again, Zhang Zhiya's mood had changed.

"Old Song," Zhang Zhiya suddenly laughed, "Isn't it ridiculous that the two of us could become a burden to Lele?"

"Our Lele has a bad life. She has a sick father like you and a useless mother like me. She has to support herself and us as well."

"I thought about holding on for another two or three years. I thought you should be able to wake up in another two or three years, right?"

"But it seems like I can't hold on any longer."

Zhang Zhiya's voice was choked with sobs and her eyes were red.

"If we hold on any longer, Lele will continue to suffer." At this point, Zhang Zhiya couldn't hold back her tears and burst into tears, "If the two of us were still alive, Lele would..."

"Old Song, you think so too, don't you?"
