Xia Xi didn't eat dinner and was so hungry that her stomach was sticking to her back. Everyone in the family had already eaten. She rummaged through the kitchen cabinet, found a pack of instant noodles, and set up a small milk pot to boil water to cook the noodles.
"Why didn't you eat on your blind date? Didn't we meet at a western-style restaurant?" Su Jinru didn't know the whole story. Seeing this, she rolled up her sleeves and pulled her aside. "Eating instant noodles so late at night is so unhealthy. I'll make you something else."
"Don't bother."
Xia Xi glanced at the pot and saw that the water was boiling. She tore open the bag and threw the noodles in, beat an egg, cut a few slices of luncheon meat, and threw in a handful of washed green vegetables. It looked very rich.
Su Jinru: "Tell me quickly, what happened tonight?"
Xia Xi tore open a few seasoning packets and poured them in, stirring the pot with chopsticks. She was too exhausted to complain about what had happened tonight. She found her phone, clicked on the previous recording, and then handed the phone to Su Jinru: "After you listen to it, you will know what kind of person that man is."
Su Jinru held the phone and went to the side to listen.
Xia Xi took out a noodle bowl, rinsed it under the faucet, and took the noodles out of the pot.
The two little ones stopped watching TV when they smelled the delicious food and ran over. Youyou stood on tiptoe to look into the bowl, swallowed her saliva, and asked knowingly, "Mom, what are you eating?"
Ziheng also blinked, and the meaning in his eyes was very clear - he wanted to eat.
No child could resist the temptation of instant noodles. Xia Xi placed the bowl on the counter and asked, "Didn't you two eat dinner?"
When my grandmother heard this, she laughed and said, "Everyone drank a big bowl of rice, half a bowl of soup, and ate half a plate of lamb chops."
"Such a good appetite? Then don't steal Mom's dinner. I didn't eat a single bite last night." Xia Xi sat down on the high stool and touched the top of each of their heads. "It's not healthy for children to eat instant noodles."
"Mom~" Youyou said in a baby voice, raising a finger at her, "Can I just have a bite?"
Ziheng rarely acts like a spoiled brat, but he will stare at you with his doe eyes until you soften your heart.
Xia Xi sighed, unable to do anything about them. She stood up and fetched two small bowls. She put a handful of noodles in one bowl, along with a piece of luncheon meat. "We agreed to just one bite."
"Yeah! Long live Mom!"
The two children immediately smiled and started eating with satisfaction while holding their bowls.
After listening to the recording, Su Jinru came over angrily, pointing at the phone with a trembling hand: "Is this guy a scoundrel?"
Xia Xi buried his head in slurping noodles and replied vaguely, "Probably."
Su Jinru looked at her worriedly. "Did he do anything to you?" She deeply regretted listening to Aunt Su and arranging tonight's blind date. "If I had known what kind of person that guy was, I would never have let you go. What kind of person is he? He's a beast! How could he say such things!"
Xia Xi certainly didn't doubt her mother's love for her. She drank a mouthful of soup, raised her face and smiled at her: "I'm fine. There were a lot of people in the restaurant, and I met a kind person who helped me, so he didn't take advantage of me."
"It's really terrible." Su Jinru became more and more angry as she thought about it. "I'll call that Su guy and ask him what's going on. Who is he trying to offend by introducing that kind of person to my daughter?"
Su Jinru put down Xia Xi's phone, picked up her own, and called Aunt Su. Her voice was sometimes louder and sometimes softer, as if she was debating with the other party.
Xia Xi filled her stomach, watched TV with the two children for a while, then went back to her room, took a shower and lay down.
It was still early and she was not sleepy, so she opened the various social apps on her phone and browsed through them.
The classmates group that had been silent for a long time suddenly became lively for some reason. She had previously set it to "Do Not Disturb Messages" and accidentally clicked on it, only to find that there were hundreds of messages.
Xia Xi looked up and found out that they were talking about a class reunion.
"Squad leader, can we bring our family members?"
"Ask in advance what everyone is doing right now so I can have a rough idea of what they're doing. I'm afraid I'll be embarrassed to attend if I'm not doing well enough."
"Well, we're all office workers, there's no need to distinguish between high and low."
"Let's not get into comparisons. Class reunions are about bonding with classmates. It would be even better if we could help each other."
"I agree. Don't do those hypocritical things. It's boring."
"Agree +1"
"I switched to PR and am busy as a dog every day."
"We in the advertising industry are the really busy ones. We get up earlier than chickens, sleep later than dogs, eat worse than pigs, and work harder than cows!"
“Hahahahahahahahahaha.”
"I work in investment banking. It's OK. I can make a living."
"In real estate companies, the industry is in recession, with overall shrinkage and decline, and everyone wants to return to their old roots."
"I'm just hanging around at a building materials company, looking dirty all day long."
"Li Guihang upstairs, stop being so modest. You look so shabby. The last time I ran into you, a bunch of people behind you were fawning over you, calling you Mr. Li. They were saying things like, 'You've just been idling away your time, and at least you've become a 'Mr.'"
"It seems that not all of us are engaged in the construction industry."
The class monitor came out and asked who was sure to come to the class reunion. He was now compiling a list of names to facilitate booking a private room, and he also said that family members could be brought along.
Many people signed up. Xia Xi saw that several of his classmates were working in industries that could develop into cooperative relationships, and he was eager to join. However, he was worried that people would gossip about his relationship problems after he showed up.
Her relationship with Xu Yanfeng caused such a sensation that everyone in the school knew about it.
Xia Xi scratched his forehead, feeling a little confused.
After the monitor finished the statistics, he posted an Excel spreadsheet to the group: "Anyone else want to come? If not, that's all."
