She was numb and too lazy to try to understand what those people meant. She shared the breakfast that Su Yuanjia had forced upon her with several roommates: "It's shameful to waste food. You guys should finish it."
"Don't you want to eat it?" Zhao Lei grabbed a steamed dumpling and took a bite. The juicy and fragrant meat filling instantly conquered her taste buds. She raised her eyebrows, "It's really delicious. I don't know where Su Yuanjia bought this, but it's definitely not from our school cafeteria."
Xia Xi supported her chin with her hand and shook her heavy head: "My mouth has no taste. I can't eat."
After sitting for a while, the teacher came and started the class.
The last two classes of the morning were Professor Li Zongyu's Architectural Design course. According to the schedule, they were supposed to be on Digital Architectural Technology, but the professor had something to do, so they rescheduled the course. Both classes were notified yesterday.
Xia Xi felt drowsy and her eyelids drooped, but she didn't dare fall asleep because Professor Li Zongyu glanced at her from time to time. Several times, her eyes met the professor's and she was so scared that she immediately straightened her back and pretended to listen to the class attentively.
I broke out in cold sweat on my back.
Xia Xi didn't understand what was wrong with Professor Li today. Even if she was his class representative, there was no need for him to pay so much attention to her.
At twelve o'clock sharp, the bell rang, and the arduous morning was finally over. Xia Xi stood up, gathered the textbooks on the table, and put them in her bag. On the podium, Li Zongyu closed the courseware and pointed at Xia Xi: "Xia Xi, come with me to the office."
Xia Xi's head was groggy, so she didn't hear anything. It was Wang Qiuyu beside her who nudged her. She looked up blankly and heard Wang Qiuyu remind her in a low voice: "The teacher wants you to go to his office."
Xia Xi didn't think much about it, thinking that he was copying teaching materials or getting homework, so he picked up his canvas bag and followed Professor Li.
Li Zongyu was nearly sixty years old, with most of his hair white and obvious wrinkles on his face, but his body was still as straight as a pine tree. He wore a neat black woolen jacket and ironed trousers. He carried a briefcase in one hand and a dented stainless steel thermos cup in the other, which was covered with a dark blue brushed cup cover.
Professor Li had his own office. He led Xia Xi inside, placed his belongings on the desk, and then returned to open the door as wide as possible. A draft from the hallway made the door rattle, so he found a mop to hold it shut.
"Do you know why I asked you to come here?" Li Zongyu dusted off his hands, walked back, sat down on the chair, and looked at Xia Xi sideways.
Xia Xi had a bad feeling, but she couldn't guess what it was. She put her hands behind her back obediently, her face flushed red, but it wasn't from fear, it was from the fever.
"I don't know." She coughed twice, her voice hoarse, "Professor, please tell me clearly."
"Are you sick?" Professor Li asked with concern.
Xia Xi nodded.
"Someone has anonymously reported you for disrupting school order and corrupting the school's morale, and they're demanding you be punished." Professor Li opened a side drawer, pulled out an envelope, and placed it on the table. "Ordinarily, this matter should be handled by your counselor, but he left on a business trip this morning. Before he left, he called me and asked me to handle it. He also considered that since you're my class representative, it would be easier for me to communicate with you. I'd like to hear what you have to say."
