Xia Xi hesitated for a moment, wondering whether to go to the infirmary first or to the cafeteria to fill her stomach. After some thought, she realized that it was closer to the infirmary, so she chose the former.
The doctor took a thermometer to measure Xia Xi's temperature. After a few minutes, the scale showed 39 degrees. The doctor suggested that she get an IV to reduce her fever faster.
Xia Xi refused. She would rather take some medicine and lie down in the dormitory to rest than sit here and receive an IV drip.
The doctor prescribed her fever-reducing medicine, as well as some anti-inflammatory and cough suppressant medication. While recording the details in her medical record, he instructed her, "If your fever doesn't go away by tomorrow, you'll need to come in for an IV."
"Okay, thank you, doctor."
When Xia Xi stood up and left, she felt dizzy and every step felt like she was stepping on cotton. She was so light-headed that she didn't react much when she bumped into someone, mainly because she had no strength.
She said "I'm sorry" and left without even looking at who she had bumped into.
The cell phone rang in the bag. Xia Xi turned slightly, unzipped the bag strap, and took out the cell phone.
Wu Qinglu called. After answering the phone, there was a noisy voice from the other end, probably still in the cafeteria: "Xixi, are you done with your work? We've all finished eating. How about I pack you a meal and you can eat it in the dormitory?"
"I don't want to go to the cafeteria, so please bring it to me. Thank you."
"What are you thanking me for?" Wu Qinglu asked her, "What would you like to eat?"
"Dragon beard noodles, cook them softer."
"Okay." Wu Qinglu was about to hang up when she thought of something and said, "Have you been to the infirmary?"
"I've checked it out. I just got the medicine out."
"That's good, that's good."
After the call ended, Xia Xi held the phone and walked towards the dormitory in the cold wind, stepping lightly and heavily.
Behind Xia Xi, the person she bumped into was Yu Tingbo, who was secretly on the phone to Chen Mian. "Xu Yanfeng is such a sinner! Junior Xia Xi got caught a cold last night and has a bad cold. I ran into her in the infirmary to get some iodine. She was carrying a big bag of cold medicine. She used to be such a lively girl, but now she's as weak as Lin Daiyu. I'm really worried she'll collapse on the road."
In dormitory 503, Chen Mian held his phone to his ear. He had already said that he didn't care about Xu Yanfeng's affairs, and he couldn't go back on his word. He deliberately shouted loudly: "What's the point of calling me to tell me all this? It's not because of me that Xia Xi caught a bad cold. Go tell Xu Yanfeng. What? You said she was about to faint? There was not even anyone accompanying her? This is too pitiful!"
As Chen Mian spoke, he glanced at Xu Yanfeng and saw that the ballpoint pen he was spinning in his hand fell on the table.
The sound of "snap" overlapped with the sound of dry branches being broken by the wind outside the window.
