Xia Xi had not taken two steps when Xu Yanfeng's message came back.
A person who says one thing and means another: "Change the name."
Xia Xi burst out laughing. He really minded this name. Not only did she not change it, she even became more excited: "What's wrong with calling you baby? You are my sweetheart. Baby, baby, baby."
A person who says one thing and means another: "Xia Xi."
Calling her name was a warning to her, and I hoped she would understand.
Xia Xi wasn't threatened by him. If he was in front of her, she might have been forced to act obedient under his pressure, but she wasn't afraid over the Internet. "Okay, I'll call you a different name. Baby, be careful on the road, and call me when you get home."
Xu Yanfeng didn't reply to her because the red light turned green and the car behind him was honking its horn to urge him to hurry up. He had to put down his phone, and his usually expressionless face showed a bit more annoyance.
Xia Xi was concerned that he was driving, so she didn't send him any more messages to harass him.
She looked at the nickname she had given Xu Yanfeng and felt uncomfortable. Xu Yanfeng wasn't a "duplicitous person" now; he was her boyfriend. Without even thinking, she casually changed a new note for him.
"Watch the road and stop playing with your phone." Wu Qinglu pulled Xia Xi with concern. If she was a step later, she would have tripped over the flower bed in front.
Xia Xi put the phone in his pocket and was quiet for less than two minutes before suddenly saying, "My friend hasn't told me yet, but Xu Yanfeng and I are together. I'll tell them."
She didn't need to tell others specifically, but she couldn't leave out her childhood friends, lest they come after her later and scold her for being dishonest for not even telling her about such a thing.
Xia Xi threw a message to the small group of three people: "Ahem, I have two things to say next."
Zhou Du: “?”
Liang Yuan: "You say."
Xia Xi: "I've caught up with Xu Yanfeng."
Xia Xi: "I'm not joking, nor am I talking nonsense."
Liang Yuan: "Holy crap! You really managed to get that immortal man?"
Zhou Du: "I underestimated you."
Xia Xi chatted with them for a while, then thought it wouldn't be a good idea to hide it from her own sisters since her childhood friend had already told them. So she called Xia Yue and asked in a low voice, "Are you at home, or at my parents'?"
"At my parents' house." Xia Yue said, "What's wrong?"
"Is our mother next to you?"
"No, I'm watering the flowers."
"That's good." Xia Xi finally stopped controlling her voice. "I'm in love! It's Xu Yanfeng, the guy I mentioned to you before. I'm with him. Don't tell Mom yet. I'm afraid she'll make a fuss and call me with a bunch of questions. I can't handle it. I'll find a time to tell her myself later."
Xia Yue was happy for her: "I said my sister is so beautiful, gentle, generous, sensible, witty and intelligent, no boy would dislike her."
Xia Xi felt embarrassed by the compliment and covered her face: "I just want to tell you, nothing else. You should take a rest first, bye, we'll talk later."
Wu Qinglu was forced to listen to the voices of people sending messages and making phone calls all the way, and finally suggested to Xia Xi: "Do you want to notify your dog?"
Xia Xi didn't react for a moment: "I don't have a dog at home."
After she finished speaking, she realized Wu Qinglu's subtext and jumped over to hold her neck: "Good for you, you usually seem the most honest, but you are so good at teasing people."
"No, no, no, I was wrong. If you keep making trouble, the soup will be spilled." Wu Qinglu couldn't beat her, so she shrank her neck and begged for mercy.
Xia Xi let her go and walked beside her, skipping and jumping, occasionally jumping high and slapping the low-hanging branches on the roadside.
Wu Qinglu could see that she was very happy.
*
The two returned to the dormitory. Zhao Lei got out of bed to eat her hard-earned lotus root and pork rib soup. Wang Qiuyu showered and sat on the bed to call her family. Wu Qinglu went to the bathroom to shower. Only Xia Xi sat in a chair, face propped up by her hands, in a daze, waiting for Xu Yanfeng's call.
About twenty minutes later, the phone on the table rang. Xia Xi was afraid of disturbing other people in the dormitory, so he took the phone to the balcony.
Others said that they actually wanted to listen to it.
The call was connected, but no one spoke on the other end.
Xia Xi glanced at the screen in confusion. This was indeed Xu Yanfeng's WeChat, and the notes were all changed by her not long ago. "Hello? Why aren't you talking?"
There was silence for about ten seconds. Just when Xia Xi thought the network was down, a boy's slow voice came from the other end: "I don't want to pay attention to you. You said you would call you when you get home."
These two sentences were completely unrelated, but Xia Xi understood. He had promised to call her when he got home, and he had done so. He didn't want to talk to her because he felt uncomfortable with that name.
Fortunately, she didn't drink the water, otherwise she would have burst out laughing.
"Xu Yanfeng, why are you so...um...cute." She knew that if she said this, he would probably get angry again.
Sure enough, his tone became a little heavier: "Hang up."
Xia Xi had her own way of dealing with him: "On the first day of dating, you hung up on your girlfriend. Do you think that's appropriate?"
In the past, she would provoke him from time to time, which made him angry but unable to bear it. It didn't make sense that he had to be a good boy all the time after becoming his girlfriend. She also wanted to experience the feeling of being spoiled.
What's more, she was unsure of his feelings before, but now he has agreed to be her boyfriend. If it wasn't because he really liked her, what else could it be?
If you like her, you have to tolerate her.
Otherwise, that's not love.
Xu Yanfeng was blocked by her words, closed his eyes and calmed down for a few seconds: "Don't call me that, everything will be fine."
"No, I must call you, darling, baby, Xu Yanfeng." Xia Xi had a look of "what can you do to me" on her face. She turned around, leaned against the railing, and supported her elbow with one hand. "Do you think I have to call you Xu Er or A Feng? I don't want to."
